What It All Comes Down To

A. Keeping The Diners Supplied The Diner
"Delivery of fresh produce."

Tommy's tired. Perhaps that's why he's coming in later than normal with supplies for this meal shift. Perhaps that's why he looks frazzled and his hair is limp and he's not racing in with all speed. Clearly it's not the heavy crate loaded down with all sorts of foods from the green house, because that's never slowed him down before. But sleep after something like what they'd gone through was... Well, unlikely.

"The cyanana harvest is starting, so I'm thinking about trying to figure out how to make some sorta pudding out of it. That's a thing, right? Banana pudding or something."

He'd been enough out of it on entering that he didn't even know who it was he was talking to. Like hell he'd thought about how the kitchen help rotation was working now. Nor did he care. He was too tired from all his dreams to care.

B. Healing Power of Horticulture The Greenhouse
If there was one place that Tommy often found peace, it was the greenhouse. Today Tommy was trying his best to work there without getting too complicated with other people. For this he'd done the best thing he could do: working the mint wing. The advantage that came that the specific wing was sealed off from the rest of the greenhouse to keep it from spreading too much. Tommy moved slowly through it with a woven rush basket, humming quietly under his breath some German pop music he remembered from back home. While he moved he clipped little sprigs of mint to pass on to Glownies as a treat.

The advantage of the sealed area was that when the doors opened, Tommy knew someone was there. He could hear it. He turned to look at the door and frowned.

"Can I help you? I thought I was soloing the mint today."

C. The Solitary Island Closed to Aeon
It took a while for him to find her, but Tommy had wanted to have an excuse to get away, but he didn't want to be put into a position where his stupid brain could interrupt him. There had been someone interested after all, and so he'd raced through the city until he found her.

"Aeon," he said, offering a hand up for a high five. "You doing anything? Because if not, island time."

D. Wild Card

That... will take some getting used to, suddenly finding himself in another place. Like teleporting. He didn't really feel the effect of it at least. Maybe it wasn't long enough for him?

"Yeah, we shall." And he'd lead the way into the bar.

Well, Shiro was definitely lucky if he hadn't felt it really. TOmmy shoves his hands into his pockets and trails after Shiro.

"Cayde runs this place but I understand it's sorta self serve."

"Then I guess we can just grab what we want." If Cayde had an issue, he could always talk to him later about it, but Cayde was pretty laid back from what he had noticed. "What do you want?"

"I'll take whatever looks or smells hardest," Tommy answered. NOt that he gets anything from it. He flops down onto a stool and smiled at Shiro.

"So, you ready for the talking bits now?"

"Sure thing." Shiro would indeed grab that for him as well as something maybe not so hard for him. Yes, he may have been part robot, but there was still enough of him that could get drunk.

"Yes, I think so." He sat down on the stool, passing Tommy his drink. "So you want to know how I was stuck in a robotic lion?"

"I really do," Tommy agreed with a wide smile. He raced behind the counter for glasses to pour into.

Shiro took the glass when it was brought over, probably more like instantaneously appeared to him. "We were fighting Zarkon: Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, and I. In the midst of the battle... my physical body died. As it did, the Black Lion, which I was bonded to, pulled my spirit into its consciousness so that I was still there... but I couldn't leave and I couldn't speak to the other paladins. I could see everything that was going on, but I couldn't do anything about it."

He poured his drink and took a sip. "Now, I'm sure you are wondering how I got out, right?"

Tommy poured a tall drink and he settles down. For a moment he thinks, trying to determine what the best answer for it would be.

"Cloning," he suggests. Mutants do that.

"Give that man another drink," he remarked to no one in particular, just more as a way of emphasizing that he was right. But he didn't seem too happy about it.

"But that was not something I planned... or my teammates planned. It was the witch who did it... to try and destroy my team."

Ouch, he hated to hear that it had happened. He pours Shiro a drink and himself a larger one.

"Not all witches, man," Tommy said immediately. He's gotta defend his brother. "But I'm sorry that shit happened to you."

"No... not all of them. But this one... I was her pet project. It is why I am missing an arm though it wasn't so... complete before. Apparently, after I physically died, they realized I wasn't around as the Black Lion was not being piloted as it had not accepted a new pilot yet. So that's why they decided to unleash one of the clones they had. The clone sabotaged my team, driving off Keith by undermining him even though he was the new pilot of the Black Lion and turned the others against him too."

He scoffed a bit.

"Of course, the Black Lion wouldn't allow the clone to take over as pilot and thus leader of Voltron since it knew where I actually was."

Well good. They can agree not all. Which means nope, no Billy judgement on that specifically. Just other stuff that he has done.

"Ouch man," Tommy said, frowning at Shiro's words. "So your team just had to get buy without the other lion thing?"

"Yeah... the thing that is infuriating is that... the clone didn't realize he wasn't me, but it was doing everything wrong. Every rule for how someone should guide others to be a leader, it was sabotaging them, but still believed it was me."

Grumble, grumble, rant over.

"Keith eventually came back. Things came to a head and Keith and the clone fought and Keith was injured... the scar on his face was caused by the clone trying to kill him. The clone nearly died from the fight after Keith cut off its mechanical arm, but finally, they were able to hear me and learn what had happened so Allura used her powers to transfer my consciousness into the clone."

Huh, he'd wondered about the scar. That's a lot. An absolute lot of things that are going on. Tommy tilted his head and considered the whole thing.

"Back in my world, there's a lot of clone shit. But not drama like that."

"Really? A lot of clones? Why is that?"

Clones in his world seemed rather nefarious. Then again, he'd only seen one of them so...

"I don't know. It just happens. Hell, my friend back home? He died and was brought back to life because of mutant cloning tech. Weird shit."

They weren't always nefarious.

"Huh... It seemed to have been common with some of the Galra as well. Nothing like that had ever been done in my world. At least that we knew of."

"It's not really common back home either. When it happens people don't know what to do with it. It makes things complicated. ESpecially since I'm certain there is an island where it happens a lot."

How else could he explain the shit David had gone through?

"An island? There's an island where they are making clones?"

He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at that. That sounded suspicious...

"Yeah, Krakoa," Tommy answered. "It's... I'm a mutant, right? There used to be millions of us. Then there was less than two hundred. They're trying to fix that."

That's why there are clones.

"New bodies made for them, minds rejoined. Lives restored."

"Ah... so Krakoa is trying to restore the mutants? Interesting."

He was kind of curious why the number of mutants had dropped, but considering they were called 'mutants', he could suspect that it wasn't necessarily a good thing.

"They're trying to fix what they lost. A species nearly wiped out. They do it only for them," Tommy answered with a shrug. "I don't judge them."

David had gotten to live because of it. A lot of good people. "Sometimes clones aren't bad."

"I can understand that. Trying to help those who were lost. I can't blame them for that either."

He smiled faintly. "I'm sure they aren't. The witch just... she was not a good person."

Not a good person. Man that describes a lot of people.

"I'm sorry you went through that. But you were back with your friends, though."

"It was not an experience I will ever look back on fondly, but I survived. And I ended up with others as well. On the weird plus side to it, if it hadn't happened, I wouldn't have piloted the Black Lion, been to all of the places I went to... also I'm pretty sure whatever the Galra did to me oddly saved my life."
