EVENT: HELP FRIENDS MAKE

BEEP.

You awake to a beep. A strong, piercing beep from your comm that you've never heard before. When you look at the display, the Agrii smile icon is lit up and if you press it, you'll hear the following message:

GRAND MOR-NING HE-ROES!

US MAKE CHOICE FOR THEY. FOR US AND THEY TOO. FOR WE. US LEARN MORE AND THEY LEARN MORE. CO-HORT TEACH MORE. BUT FIRST FRIENDS MAKE.

WE HELP FRIENDS MAKE. WELCOME THEY.

FRIENDS. FRIENDS. FRIENDS.

TALK MORE LATER!

With that, the message ends and the ship button glows instead. Unlike the glowing Agrii smile, or the glow when a normal message comes through, this glow is like the alluring, irresistible light of that first Data Point. You can't help but press it. And once you do, between one eyeblink and the next, you move from wherever you are to one of the spaceships. What’s going on?

This is your new ship. But which ship is it? Hard to tell from the inside, unless you happened to set foot on it during your time in Drift Fleet.

Oh, also?

You can't get out.

Alongside you are the members of your cohort and no one else. The ship is locked down with a blinking, new clock above the door that reads “330.” It seems to be a counter, but what is it counting down? 330 days? 330 hours? 330 years? It's impossible to tell until a little over one Earth hour passes and it goes to 329. You realize then that it’s counting hours: Agrii hours. 329 Agrii hours locked in a ship with people you may or may not know.

This should be fun…

Here's what this means for you...

So, what’s going on? Starting tonight (October 7) and running until October 21 at midnight Pacific Time, your characters are trapped inside one of the recently appeared spaceships with their cohorts. No matter what they do, characters cannot leave. They will not be able to open doors, break through the hull, anything. It’s time to get to know your cohorts!

Communicators and the Network will continue working during this time. You can communicate to those outside your ships, but you won’t be able to physically reach them. The ships appear to have working power and water - don’t worry, you can shower, cook, and keep the lights on. But no matter what your characters do, the ships will not lift off or fly. They are effectively grounded, even if you have someone with the pilot expertise in your group. Engineers won’t be able to figure out where the disconnect seems to be, either. Sorry!

Cohorts and ships are as follows. Again, your character won't know which ship they're on unless they recognize a ship's given quirks from Drift Fleet.

Bishop: Sansa, Tommy, Vash, Wanda, Krista
Bloodsport: Delta, Winter, Phalanx, Connor, Billy, Thrawn
First Breath: Carol, Lance, Clint, Katara, Eli, James
Vanquish: Garak, Vision, Rayla, Julian, Steve
Twin Roses: Jadzia, Bucky, Noctis, Tyrion, Altair
Starduck: Hux, Leonard, Keith, Natasha, Loki

As of midnight on the 21st, the ships’ doors will open and the characters will be able to leave once again.

This is the only event taking place for the month of October, so feel free to post threads anytime this month. Once the ships open and release the characters, you can still backdate posts if you didn’t get the chance to do something during the event. Otherwise, everything on Agra 10 will remain quiet through the end of October; the rest of the month is your own time.

As always, leave a comment here or reach out to the mods on Plurk or through journals if you have questions!

And a little more to consider...

Now that you're all settled, here are some additional things to consider about your cohort and the time spent on your ship:

Does your group have an Engineer? Great! You can adjust the temperature and light settings for comfort. No Engineer? Well, you can't figure out how to adjust the temperature (which might swing up and down a little) and there are some really weird, intermittent beeps you can't turn off. A Pilot might be able to help a little, here, but it'll take longer for them to figure things out.

The ships aren't really flyable (by your characters) - but they might randomly start up, hover, and even zoom around a bit. It's not really high or fast enough to cause real problems, and it always seems to eventually stop. No one with the Pilot skill? You're at the mercy of your ship. If you do have a Pilot, they can't launch the ship, but they'll be able to get it to settle down after the first tantrum and it won't act up again.

The Network is working, but it's a little glitchy, sometimes going down or getting staticky in the middle of calls. Unless you have someone with the Communications skill - they'll be able to smooth things over, so all your messages work as they should.

The ships do have some basic medical kits, including bandages and some kind of sedative medication that might just actually be alcohol. If you have a Medic on board, they'll be able to figure out what's in the kit immediately. No Medic? Well, don't get hurt, or at least be ready for some trial and error.

As for your galley, the Agrii have shoved some veggies in the freezer! Got someone with the Agriculture skill? Go crazy, enjoy some fresh meals. If not... well, enjoy that protein gel.

And a few more odds and ends:

- Character powers such as telepathy and empathy that might allow any kind of communication/link between the ships can't seem to reach anyone outside of your ship. It's as though something is blocking you, but you don't know what or why.

- If your character has pets, they arrived on the ship with you! There's likely something in the galley you can feed them, too, so no one will starve.

- The ships themselves are roughly 60 meters long; they're like a somewhat compressed version of Serenity from Firefly, with several rooms and very short hallways linking them. There seems to be only one level, no stairs or ladders. No engine room that you can find, nor is there a proper infirmary, just the first-aid kit. We'll definitely have more detailed info on the ships soon, but if there's something you want to know outside of the basic rundown on the linked post above, please ask!

I think is missed it somewhere, but is it listed somewhere what group are stuck on what ship?

I'm an idiot and forgot the line of they can't tell from the inside what ship they're on. So to change my question: What about the ships that were merged together? For example the Twin Roses is the Three Twins and Windrose mashed together and they're suppose to have little details of each ship left in them. Like this wall looks like it came from the Windrose and this window came from the Three Twins. That sort of thing.

I guess I'm more wondering for the characters from the original drift fleet who would notice those little nuances that were suppose to be in each ship.

But I thought each ship had something to make them unique even at the basic level? Basically what was at the bottom of this spreadsheet for each ship tag. The first paragraph in the Unique Features and Other Notes section were always there even before the upgrades. Just using the first three ships on the spreadsheet for examples:

The Bloodsport has almost a scrappier look, and features more dull, black metal. It's not creepy so much as it is utilitarian and mechanical, kind of like a garage.

The Red Fish appears to have dimmer lights than the other ships in the fleet. The rooms look older, sharper, and almost archaic. There are an unusual number of skulls hidden in the ship's design.

The Blue Fish is filled with a brighter, more natural light. All of the rooms seem a little more spacious, with more spots to sit. Even te kitchen table is definitely bigger.

Or have they been changed then? I mostly ask because if the ships have been modified to take away these features to look like carbon copies of each other I need to change how Vash has been reacting to them as he'll start thinking that they aren't really the same ships from the show and are just fakes.

Should I contact my cohorts then about claiming a ship? Or is there something happening with what cohort will be on each ship? As right now I'm not sure how to tag as Vash would know what ship he woke up on. And he'll have a different reaction to different ships based on past experiences with the ships.

So the people are getting zapped onto the ships. What about their pets? Do they come too?

I assume this is similar to the telepathy/empathy block, but want to check just in case-

Can Billy magic something to someone on other ship? IE can he give Tommy a birthday present, or is that similarly blocked?

Kind of an odd question but how far does admiral go? Does that count for a pilot?

Whoops since I just figured out it's whether or not you find the data point to be a pilot I'd instead like to ask if it would be okay handwave for Thrawn finding it before being stuck on ship?

Our ship lacks both pilots and engineers. If I wanted to have Vision adjust the environmental controls so Garak doesn't freeze, would he be able to call up someone with Engineering and have them walk him through the process?

Hey, when you say midnight on the 21st do you mean when the clock rolls over to the 21st, or over to the 22nd?
