Well, I don't know about you folks but now that we're back I'm done livin' on ships.
[ A slightly ironic statement to make since Cobb is clearly sitting outside the hangar. ]
So, I'm doin' somethin' about it. I've told a few of you my plans but this is for everyone else that hasn't heard. I'm gonna move out of the First Breath and fix up a house. One somewhere I can pen up some glownies and start ranching them for food and wool. Then I'm gonna fix up the house next door and whoever wants it can have it.
And then move on to the next. And the next. If you want a house somewhere else from where I end up, I'd be willin' to help out there as well.
[ There's a good amount of determination in his tone. Cobb's very clearly done with being a spacer. Stupid pipes everywhere on the First Breath. ]
If you wanna help out, I'd appreciate that but you don't have to. I took that Engineering data point so I understand how to do the work. I could try and teach folks who don't know construction but wanna help. I got tools and figure I'll salvage what I can from houses that aren't worth saving.
We got the bare bones of a town here. Might as well make an effort to build something from it.

[ And he doesn't know that much about banthas in the first place. ]
no subject
no subject
[ Which would make the chosen skill useful. Cobb doesn't want anyone to sacrifice what they chose. ]
Reeves told me there was a ranch space already out by the greenhouse. You wanna see if it's still salvageable? Better to rebuild somethin' than start new if we've got the choice.
no subject
[He nods, lips giving a small twitch of a smile at Reeve's name.]
By the greenhouse? Yeah, I can scout it out. BB and I'll head over and see what's there.
no subject
[ The man has been very eager to help and full of knowledge. Cobb rather likes him so far. ]
Thanks. If it looks useable we'll just start the ranch there instead of buildin' a new one out by the houses.
no subject
If we get anything built that's sky worthy I'd be happy to show you the ropes. Or if you're curious, I've got a glider.
[He nods easily.]
No problem. S'good to have someone organizing things.
no subject
[ He's flown a jetpack. He doesn't need to fly a ship necessarily. ]
Well, I did a bit of it back home. Not trying to step on anyone's toes with this but I really don't like living on a ship.
no subject
[His head tilts, not really seeing Cobb as the government type.]
Well, I'll be sad to lose a neighbor, but I understand. It's not for everyone.
no subject
[ He's not. While technically Mayor and Marshal none of that's official. ]
Just need somewhere I don't have to duck through every door or dodge pipes.

[The moon would have only recently been colonized for Cobb. Poe grins, setting down the device so he can shrug on his jacket. There's an Alliance Starbird on the shoulder, worn and cracked.]
Tsk, you try squeezing into a X-Wing cockpit, you'll start finding these luxuriously spacy.
no subject
[ He's heard about the colonization of Yavin 4 but that's about it. He has no idea how the efforts are going. ]
How long have you been flying for the New Republic?
[ Because that's what that symbol has become to Cobb. Used to be the Rebellion but now it's trying to be a legitimate government. He doesn't have much regard for it. Good intentions had brought a lot of bad things to the Outer Rim. ]
no subject
[It's hard to see in the video, but the patch is lacking the ring of stars that would make it the New Republic's insignia. This one's been salvaged from his parents' days in the war. But Cobb's not wrong in his assessment regardless.
Poe pauses, glancing towards his shoulder and picking the device back up, trying not to display too much in his face that would betray the ultimate fate of the New Republic.]
Uh- used to. Left about...4 years ago, now? But I flew with them for a bit. S'where I met this guy. [He nods towards BB-8.]
no subject
[ He doesn't know the differences in symbols. They're all roughly the same and all go back to the same source. New names, new symbols, it's the same at the core. ]
I remember him. Met him hangin' around Tony Stark. Might've insulted him too. [ His conversation about droids might stick in BB-8's head. ] Why'd you leave? Tired of the politics?
no subject
[The droid chirps, and Poe chuckles, carrying on their chat as he starts making his way out to do his inspection.]
He remembers you. [He doesn't interpret whether it's fondly or not.]
...Gotta better offer. [He smirks, to mask the real reason, and shrugs a shoulder.] It's a long story. And you might get to see some of it play out for yourself, you don't want me spoiling it for you, do you?
no subject
[ Eh, he's not worried if the droid doesn't like him. Cobb doesn't really like droids anyway. ]
Hm, so you're from the future of our galaxy. Not the past like Obi-Wan. [ Din had told him about this but it still made his thoughts stumble for a second every time. It's so different, so insane from the way he saw the world. ] Dependin' on when you come from, I'm probably dead. Don't exactly live the safest life on Tatooine.
no subject
Seem to be the only one. 34 ABY? [He's not sure when exactly Cobb falls, but if Obi-Wan is before his time that puts him maybe in the range of his parents' time.] And I wouldn't count yourself so short. You seem to have done all right with yourself up to now.
no subject
Well, I'm not sure the Maker will give me another twenty-five years. I've used up a lot of luck. Then again, didn't think I'd make it this far. [ And free. Cobb didn't think that would happen. Who knows anymore? ]
But glad to know the universe is still going in the future.
no subject
Maybe the Force is looking out you? You don't see the sort to go down easy, I'd bet you're still kicking somewhere out there. [He flashes a small smirk.]
For now anyways. [Maybe not much longer if the First Order succeed, but...]
no subject
[ But he's angered a lot of powerful people. Cobb's not exactly resigned to death. He'll go down fighting but he knows his chances. ]
But since we're both stuck here for the time bein' time to make something of this town instead. Pretty sure it's safer here than Tatooine but you never know.
no subject
[He grins.]
Right, I'll go check it out and get back to you. Try to stay out of trouble.
