Mandalorian catch all!

A. Disappearing act
Mando didn't stick around for too long after landing, and dealing with Grogu's distress. Maybe a day, maybe two, as they made sure the people, that didn't know the planet, were settled. Then one morning, he's gone. Having left in the early hours of the morning, just before sunrise. When most, if not all, were probably asleep. He had his people to find, and a low profile to keep. What better way to do that, than to disappear into the city.
Using the credits the Agrii provided, he took a speeder down into the lower tiers of the city. Where he knew he'd find them. Or more accurately, they found him first. With their spies within the city, it didn't take long for word of a new, strange, Mandalorian to make it to Coruscant's Mandalorian inhabitants. After being confronted, and proving he wasn't just someone that stole a Mandalorian's armor, Mando was taken to the enclave. For the first time in almost a year, he finally felt like he was home.
Being amongst Mandalorians once again, is what he needed. He finally could heal and maybe, just maybe, resolve the conflict that had been going on within him.
B. Honest living
It's days later, before he manages to extract himself from the enclave once again. With no small amount of reluctance. Even though he'd taken his comm with him, it had been switched off pretty much since he left. He hadn't wanted to be found. He needed to do this on his own. So any messages sent to him, went unanswered. Switching it back on, one of the first things he did, of course, was to send a message to Obi-wan asking how Grogu is. Before he checked for any other messages that may have been left.
He's not leaving the lower levels yet, however. Feeling far more comfortable down here, than he would in the upper tiers. Even though he knew the Agrii were some how providing credits, he didn't like having to depend on them for currency. The main way he knew how to do that? Bounty hunting, and down in these levels, it was easy enough to pick up bounty hunting jobs. Earning a fair amount of credits in only a few days.
C. Moving up.
Eventually he'll head up into the mid tier levels, checking out shops, and seeing what's available. At some point, he'll even get back to the original hangar they all started at. To check on what had been done since he was gone.
D. Wildcard
((Anything else you want to do? Or that we planned? Feel free to drop a starter. Or a line to me with an idea, and I'll write a starter for it.))

One good thing about a planet wide city, with some five thousand levels: It's easy to miss and hide things. There's tension between the Jedi and the Mandalorians, after the latter raided the temple not all that long ago. But for this moment in time, the Jedi weren't outright hunting the Mandalorians, and the Mandalorians weren't bothering the Jedi. The next major conflict between them wouldn't be for another two hundred years. Mando knew of the limited time they had on Coruscant. That in a matter of weeks they'd head back to Temba, and he'd be the lone Mandalorian once again. Still, he didn't linger on it, instead enjoying the time he had.
"Thought you might like seeing it." The tone through the vocoder of the helmet is relaxed. To be among Mandalorians again, has put Mando in a sense ease he hasn't felt in some time. Not since he decided, to not leave Grogu in the hands of Imperials. Once they get to the market, he even looks more physically relaxed. Still standing tall, but his body language is more relaxed, less on guard.
He could have kept it to just himself and Grogu. But...he wanted Cobb to see it too. Possibly one of the last and only times they'd get to see it. Doing this is even more special to Mando, than Cobb realizes. Showing a partner a tribe like this, is not unlike taking your boyfriend to meet the family. Outwardly he's keeping it cool, while inwardly he's anything but.
"Colors have alot of...meaning to Mandalorians."

He did like it. It's a nice little village tucked among the streets and levels of Coruscant. The Mandalorians look a little closer at him but seemed to relax when they see he's escorted by Mando. Cobb understood now how Cayde must have felt walking around with him.
"Yeah?" Cobb asked, genuinely curious. "What's your armor mean being unpainted like that?"
Was color something that was earned? Cobb's borrow armor had been painted pretty nicely before it got all scraped up and dinged. Did he wear an important Mandalorian's armor? Was it more special than he ever knew?
Turned out once he started to learn about Mandalorians and their Creed Cobb was real curious. They were more than the ruthless hunters and killers he had heard stories about.
no subject
He tilts his helm a little, at the question of his armor color. Noting the genuine curiosity, and letting his arm drop to his side. Genuine curiosity about the armor was so rare in their time anymore. Nobody cared about the armor, what it meant or the history behind it. They just cared about how many credits it could bring them. It's a nice change.
"Silver means redemption." There's other armor about that lacks paint, too. Or only as accent colors. The steel itself capable of producing different colors depending on the ore and the vein. "My set before this was brown, meaning valor."
no subject
It wasn't the first time Cobb had asked questions about Mando's people. That night in the Tusken camp he'd learned the basics of the Creed and why the armor mattered so much. He figured why not learn more? Mando was sharing his culture with him. It'd be rude not to listen.
"Valor, very fitting for a man who would let himself get eaten by a krayt dragon." But the redemption was interesting. He didn't know what Mando felt he needed redeeming for. All he'd known the man as was a hero.
He stopped at a spice vendor breathing in the heavy scent of something spicy that burned in the nose. It was the first real spice he'd found that reminded him of home. "What about what I found? Green and red. Had some yellow too."
Cobb started checking the spices. If he got the right one, he was pretty sure he could make ahrisa.
Kinda crappy, but it's late x.x
The night at the camp, had certainly solidified the beginning of their great friendship. Having someone willing to listen, and wanting to learn. Most people never asked. It only made Mando want to talk about it more. Ah, the traded for armor. That he still had on his ship back home. He'd yet to find the owner for it, if he ever would.
"With the green, it showed they had a dedication to duty." He's checking out the spices, too. They had a good selection. He'll probably have to translate, too. "They were also....honoring a parent of leader with the red. While remembering them with the yellow." Or remembering other things too. Din couldn't be sure.
Shhhhs, always good tags
Probably wasn't a good cultural move to take from these people right in front of them. Cobb had learned that lesson with the armor.
"Ma'am, do you speak Basic?" he asked the woman behind the stall as polite as he could. "I'd love to buy some of these spices from ya. This one here? Smells just like what I've been lookin' for."
The kind of spice that would burn the back of the throat and make your nose run. Coruscant did not appreciate spicy food enough.
Hope I did this right
"Kaysh ru'kel guuror at hokor." Mando pipes up with a nod to the vendor, after watching the exchange for a moment. While the woman had understood some, she didn't get all of it. But Mando's words get a sound of acknowledgement out of her, and she holds up five fingers of one hand while saying something back.
"It's five credits a pound." Mando switches back to basic, as he tilts his helm at Cobb. "How much did you want?" He's expecting a lot, considering the Agrii aren't likely to be nice and send them back here.
I have no idea how Mando'a works, lol
"Three pounds if she's got it?" He wouldn't use too much spice in cooking. And yeah, he planned to let others use it too but still three pounds of spice should go a long way once they got back. "Otherwise, I'll just take one."
He held up three fingers so the woman wouldn't feel like they were talking around her then got out the necessary credits. "Bought some seeds earlier while you were off on your own. I'm hoping they'll grow back on Tembra. One of 'em supposed to be a pepper."
And yes, he did plan to carry the bag while they walked around the Mandalorian market. Like carrying a mining haul back in the day. It wouldn't bother him.

"It would be nice. To have more variety, on Temba." The food paste gets old, and other food was always so limited. After the spice dealer, Din heads over to a tea dealer, looking at their selection, even lifting some to the rim of the helmet so he can get a sniff.
"I've been here of the time. Since we landed." Since he disappeared a day or two after, any how. "It's been good. To be among Mandalorians again." He of course had Grogu, and Cobb from their time, Was on good terms with plenty of others on Temba. But it's different being among those similar to him, similar ways and beliefs, once again. "I...had things to figure out."
no subject
While Mando's a little distracted with tea Cobb stepped over to the other stall with his back turned to Mando. "Yeah? What did you figure out?"
He hoped the more Mando talked the more distracted he'd be while picking out tea. Cobb had a little shopping to do that he didn't want Mando to see. Luckily, growing up a slave he knew how to hide his actions from prying eyes.
The vendor definitely overcharged him since he wasn't one of them but Cobb managed to get it done with Tusken hand signs and a bit of Huttese which luckily was still a common trade language.

Just like Mando's definitely going to stock up on tea. It's been sometime since he's had Mandalorian tea. Now that he's got access to it, he's not leaving without any. One advantage Cobb has for being sneaky, is Mando's peripherals aren't that great in the helmet, either. He's silent, as he considers how to answer, while also inspecting tea. Helmet inclining to to the side.
"I'd been feeling...conflicted. About the creed, and things that've happened." Events back home, and on Temba both. This trip was definitely well times on the Agrii's part. He'd needed somebody to talk to, somebody that really understood. Explaining what he could, without of course revealing too much about what happened in their time. Wouldn't exactly do to tell them about the purge in nine hundred years. "I...understand better now."
He picks about a dozen different teas, and pays for a large order of them. This should last quite a while, even if he shares some. He also asks the vendor where he'd find a maker for the tea, he needs one of those after all.

The little surprise for Mando was wrapped in a soft cloth and Cobb tucked it in his belt, hidden by the cape. He thanked the vendor and explained it was a surprise for his partner. Which actually got him a nod of approval.
Then Cobb was right back at Mando’s side like he’d never left the whole time he was considering tea. “Any idea how the kid’s doing? I haven’t seen him since he went off with Obi-Wan.”
They moved on to tea sets which Cobb looked over with interest. He still hadn’t been able to find a Tatooine style caf set. He really hoped to find one before they went back. If not, he’d have to see if anyone in the ships could make one from scrap metal.

Nope, Din sees nothing Cobb does, and is finishing up his purchasing of the tea. Taking the packed up tea, and giving the vendor his payment. The question about Grogu, as they start to walk again, gets a low sigh out of him.
"Obi-wan says he's doing better." Which Din is relieved to know. He'd managed to calm the kid down when they landed, but Grogu had still not been in the best state when he went with the Jedi. "I should be able to visit him soon." Or at least he hoped he could. Obi-wan had mentioned the council was reluctant about letting a Mandalorian into the temple. 'Soon' can't come soon enough, though. Din's really missing him more than he'd admit. They've not been separated this long, since before Din found the child.
He examines the patterning on one of the tea sets. "Anything else you wanted to look for?"
no subject
Cobb kept his thumb hooked in his belt as he looked over the tea sets. Yeah, none of those would work for Cobb's needs. What a shame. One of these days he'd find what he was looking for.
"I didn't come down here with any idea we'd be shopping," Cobb admitted with a chuckle. "So, I don't mind just wandering with you. What do you wanna show me?"
These were Din's people. Cobb didn't to insult anyone by wandering where an outsider wasn't welcome. He'd stick to Din's side and when the moment was right surprise him with the gift.
"Must be something you really missed that this place has."
no subject
They can go looking at other shops for tea sets, that are more of Cobb's type. But really, shopping wasn't what they had come for. Din had brought Cobb down here for a reason.
"There is." He responds with a nod, before picking out a set and paying for it. He asks the vendor to hold onto it until he comes back for it. He's been holding off, even staling. Using the shopping as a distraction. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he knows where this could, and maybe is leading. Somewhere he's not entirely sure he's ready for.
"Come on." He turns to Cobb, as he speaks, before they start walking again. "Where we're going, you need to be respectful." He says, tilting his helm to the side. Not that Cobb hasn't been respectful, but it felt like it needed to be emphasized.

The longer they spent on Coruscant the more Cobb was reminded that this wasn't home. Yeah, the giant city covering the whole planet gave it away but the little things mattered too. Maybe he was just a silly old man about it but he missed the unrelenting heat and pouring sand out of his boots.
He nodded to the vendor with a polite smile even though he hadn't bought anything then he falls right into step with Mando again. They have a way of matching pace where ever they are.
He chuckled and raised an eyebrow. "I promise to be on my best behavior and keep my mouth shut." It wouldn't be a repeat of the Tusken Camp when he lost his temper being talked around like he wasn't there. Cobb could be a little more diplomatic this time. "You gonna tell me where we're going..."
Cobb cut himself off. "Huh. Probably not respectful to call you Mando around your own people. What do you want me to call you?"
Hope it's okay I nabbed this icon. Love it xD
"I don't like it either." He doesn't like not having ready access to Grogu. That he can't just go get the kid. "He rarely left my side back home. Now it's been a week." A week that Din would admit he needed. But a week is still a long time. "If I could. I would just go get him." He wants to show Grogu his people too, it's the only chance he'll probably have. But he's no match for thousands of Jedi either, if they perceive him as a threat. "I hope they see reason." Obi-wan understood it. He just hoped this ancient council would feel the same way.
"I'm sure you will." His tone light, as there might just be a small smile under the helmet. Oh Din well remembers the incident at the camp. The long talk they had that night, coming to a mutual understanding of each other.
His answer about where they're going gets stalled by the asking what to call him. Making him pause, as the thought rushes through his mind. "No. It wouldn't." He manages, after long moments of silence. Dank ferric, he didn't think this through. But Cobb was right.
"Call me.." He swallows on a touch of sudden nerves. "...call me Din." Some how it felt fitting, that Cobb would be the first out of their group to get his name.
Yes! I'm totally cool with folks taking it.
"If they don't, I can walk in there. I'll just borrow the kid for awhile." Cobb saw no problem with walking in, grabbing Grogu, and walking out. He wasn't a Mandalorian, what sort of protest could they raise to that? "If it comes to that. I don't think Obi-Wan will let it but... it's not right to keep a kid from his dad."
There was something deeply personal there that Cobb didn't want to touch right now but he'd absolutely help steal the kid back from the Jedi. Without hesitation.
"Well, Din, nice to meet you," he said with an easy smile. "Promise I won't use it around the others. Mando and partner only. Well, maybe the occasional friend."
If Din wanted to stay anonymous around the others, that was fine with Cobb. Some people didn't want to be known like that. There were folks back in Mos Pelgo who had changed their names after being freed to distance themselves from that time. Din had his reasons for protecting the name.
\o/
When he finally manages to speak, after fighting to push the feelings back down, it's just a uttered quiet-- "Thank you." There's an edge to it he doesn't want to touch, and he's thankful the helmet keeps Cobb from seeing his face. The words shouldn't matter, it's an offer probably anyone, specially those from Agra-10 that know him, would give. Yet, hearing them from Cobb gives them a different feel.
There's a couple more moments of silence from Din, before the name thing gets an appreciative nod of the helmet from him. "You're...the first. From our group to know my name." Which after this trip will probably be changing. Din just needed to get it in his head, that this wasn't their world. Neither was Agra-10. There really wasn't a reason to hide his name. Even Obi-wan had stopped going by 'Ben' some time ago.

"You and I have a little bit more history than everyone else, partner." Cobb couldn't help the little bit of smugness in his voice. He liked being the first, liked knowing that Din trusted him a little bit more than everyone else. "Though, you should probably tell your kid if you haven't. I don't think Grogu can talk but shouldn't he know as well?"
Din might have a reason for not telling Grogu. Maybe something about the Creed but Cobb didn't think so. "Unless he already does. I guess I'm assuming a lot with that, huh?"
No matter what feelings he had Cobb really shouldn't assume he was somehow more important than Grogu. The kid came first.
no subject
"We do." There's people who gets along with, that he'd probably consider friends. But there wasn't that natural connection he had with Cobb. The feel of ease he had around the man. However, he's distracted by the reminder of Grogu, and he turns his helm back forward, tilting it down a little. It was the creed that had kept him hiding his name, from all but a few. Cara and Greef only knew it because of Gideon. Who really had no right to know it in the first place.
"No, he doesn't." Din doesn't know that Grogu already knows it. He wasn't in a state to realize it at the time, what with nearly dying and all. Story of his life. "I'm...telling him next." Really, Grogu would have been first one he told, his kid came first above all others. Whatever feelings he may have. But extenuating circumstances got in the way, and really, he can't have Cobb calling him Mando here. "But you needed something to call me."
no subject
"I guess I could've stuck with partner. But I'm glad to know you, Din." He might never see Din's face but he had his name. It was another little bit of trust between them. Cobb was careful with bonds but he couldn't deny this one.
He didn't want to.
"So, where we going now? You said it was somewhere I had to be on my best behavior." Cobb didn't think Mandalorians had temples like the Jedi but what did he know? Din's people were practically myth in his time. Most of what he knew before meeting Din were old stories and half of those were made up he had realized as he learned more and more.
If they were headed to some sort of sacred place, well, he would definitely keep his mouth shut and his head down.
