A Search for Peace
WHO: Obi-Wan Kenobi and YOU
WHERE: Various locations around Temba
WHAT: Jedi doing Jedi things.
WHEN: During the V-Day Mini Event
WARNINGS: Grumpiness probably
Waking up on his bunk in the Twin Roses one morning came with a surprise. A random pink mothcat plushie having been left for him at the end of his bed with a little card. The Jedi is confused as he has no idea what this is even about, and hasn't yet seen one of these creatures to boot. Even so, he leaves the plush on his bed before going out to do his thing.
A breakfast of food paste stuff and then morning meditation. Except... that's when the confetti starts. Obi-Wan finding himself covered in glitter and confetti and disturbed by any confusion and chatter regarding the stuff in the ship. Where is it even coming from?! Dusting it off, only to get covered with more, the annoyed Jedi leaves the ship only to find that it's happening outside as well.
He is not feeling the love.
Trying to escape the glitter, which is futile, he also attempts to find a place to meditate in peace. He can be found in varying locations, usually initially appearing as a sparkly mound as sitting and being still gets him covered in the glittery stuff raining down on everyone. Though every time someone talks to him or disturbs him in some way, he ends up moving somewhere else.
Ultimately he ends up on top of Cayde's tower. How did he get up there?! It's a mystery. Either way, he's sitting up there, trying to get away from it all and calm his mind.
It's proving very difficult as this ridiculous glitter keeps falling.
Come meditate with him or bother him. The choice is yours.

Belatedly, he realizes he never addressed the lack of name issue. He is, he realizes, maybe a little shocky, and that's probably not helping his confusion in the slightest. "I'm Ezra. Ezra Bridger. I'm...a Jedi." Of sorts.
His expression crumples. "My master did everything he could to teach me in the time we had together, at any rate."
no subject
“Well, that would explain that,” he said while motioning to the blaster burn on Ezra’s shoulder. Glad to finally know his name and again not surprised when he reveals himself as a Jedi. Though Obi-Wan’s expression softens in compassion at the last part.
“I see. Yes, for some of us our masters are gone far too soon. Before we are even ready to continue on without without them, no matter what we might think.” He knew that all too well.
“Let me see that wound,” he then says, motioning for Ezra to turn towards him.
no subject
So he's fairly trusting, as he peels out his jacket and tunic. "My master lost his master when he was a lot younger than I am," he replies, sounding a little more steady, but subdued. "Master Billaba."
no subject
Reaching out his hand, Obi-Wan places it gently on the boy’s shoulder, closing his eyes as he focused on the Force. He was by no means a master healer. Though it was something he intended to practice at. Thus there would be a warm, tingling sensation as he channeled his energy into Ezra. Encouraging his body to heal more rapidly.
no subject
He's silent and as still as he can hold while he feels energy flowing into him, although he untenses as the pain eases off.
"Thank you," he whispers, then clears his throat. "I'd heard something about you being on the council. I think. Maybe Ahsoka mentioned it? I don't think I knew Master Billaba was, though. Kanan didn't talk about that sort of history much."
no subject
“You knew Ahsoka as well?” He might have been more surprised, but the Mandalorian had also mentioned her. It seemed she got around.
“I take it your master was a survivor of the purge. If that’s the case then it’s understandable he wouldn’t speak of it.”
no subject
"Ahsoka's saved my life, uh, several times," he admits, lips twitching into a sheepish smile. But hey, he can mark one off the tally of paying her back.
He stretches his shoulder carefully.
"And Kanan - I always knew him as Kanan Jarrus. Before the purge his name was Caleb Dume."
Kanan had said there were ten thousand Knights, back then. So hundreds if not thousands of students, right? Ezra doubts even a councillor could know them all. But maybe a friend's student?
no subject
He then looked thoughtful as Ezra brings up Kanan. A hand reaching out to stroke his beard for a moment as he considered the names. "Caleb Dume does sound familiar. I think he might have attended one of my lectures, actually."
It was a minor thing, and he had to think back on it. Though his eyes did light up after a moment. "Yes, I remember. He asked me questions about the temple's recall signal. Quite a bright young student if I recall."
no subject
Ezra wonders if Master Kenobi knows what happened to Master Skywalker. That he's Vader now.
Not the conversation to bring that up, he decides. He's not going to go out of his way to hide it, or lie, but it can wait. Right now they're establishing common points. Ways to connect.
"I believe it," he says proudly, and then adds more thoughtfully, "He had a recording of a signal you sent out warning people away from the temple. It's how I recognized you."
no subject
"He had that did he?" the Jedi Master says a bit solemnly. "I'm glad that there were those that received it." He had wondered if anyone would. If there was even any other Jedi left. Turns out that there was, and they did. That fills him with a bit of hope. Knowing that a few had survived and had even gone on to train their own apprentices. There was indeed hope for the future of the Jedi.
"It sounds to me that your master taught you well."

He takes a deep breath. He's still very tired, and hurting, but his head is swimming a little well. Here and now. Ok.
Next he picks up his jacket, looking it over to try to decide how salvageable it is. The bit of glitter stuck all over it isn't helping.
"So here's my first real question," he says, making a face as he tries to brush the jacket to slightly more presentable. "....what's with the metallic rain?"
no subject
The question though draws an exasperated expression though as the Jedi looks at the sky and the shiny confetti that was still falling down on them. "I don't actually know, to be honest." He knows nothing about Valentine's Day, and this is certainly the strangest thing that's ever happened since he's arrived.
"I can only assume it's just another strange occurrence in this place. Which seems to happen from time to time. Fortunately, you managed to miss the giant spiders that appeared not too long ago."
no subject
"So what happened with the spiders here? And the rain is....new?" he checks.
no subject
"Something, or someone, triggered a strange sound from that tower over there." He pointed in the direction of said building. "It caused most of the wildlife, and a few of the people here, to turn suddenly aggressive. I was able to use the Force to calm those I encountered, with the exception of the spiders. They were immune to any influence and were attacking us constantly during the evening hours. That went on for days. And... yes. The rain is new."
no subject
"Doesn't surprise me that the spiders were the hardest to calm. I kind of have a knack for connecting with animals, but the spiders around our base - I really tried but it never quite worked. If you let go enough of fear and stayed really still in the Force they'd sort of forget about you. But if they're already aggressive, and you have to protect other people, that doesn't really work," he muses.
He looks back towards Master Kenobi. "How long have you been here?"
no subject
The question about how long he had been there was a welcome distraction. It forced him to pause and think about it for a moment. “I would say at least two standard months? Perhaps longer. The cycles here are longer than what we are used to.”
no subject
"Can I ask your advice on how...cautious to be, then?"
no subject
It still bothered him a great deal, but that’s the situation they were in.
“That being said, not much excitement has happened since I arrived aside from the spiders.”
no subject
"What about admitting to abilities? Taking about personal details with the other people stuck here?"
no subject
“I haven’t been using my true name here,” Obi-Wan admits. “So I understand your caution. However, most everyone is aware that there are Jedi here. I believe we are safe in that regard.”
no subject
no subject
At the question he then shook his head. “It no longer matters. Apparently my name has been visible on the network all along. So there is no reason to hide that any longer. You may call me Master Kenobi or Obi-Wan.”
no subject
Right now, he's very tired. "I need to...find somewhere to sleep. And then figure out what I'm doing after that. Thank you again, for your help, Master Kenobi."
no subject
“Then I will give you the advice I was given on my first day.” Obi-Wan motions out towards the city.
“In that direction, not far from the fountain you first saw, there’s a hotel. Or you can sleep on one of the ships. Barring those options, you could do like I did and find the first hole that looks reasonably comfortable. Nothing is likely to bother you so long as you stay in the city.”
