Starduck

Grogu has no idea why he can get into this ship, but Din can't. It's such a pretty ship! Much fancier than the Razor Crest. Not that he didn't love the Razor Crest, but he can't resist the allure of the shiny buttons and knobs that this ship has to offer.

On any given day he can be found fiddling with buttons and knobs (now that he knows what most of them do, he tries to avoid ones that might break something) or standing in the kitchen trying to figure out how to make food happen. Ignoring the bunks, he got one of the lockers opened and made a little nest for himself out of the sheets and towels. He often nestles inside, turning a little silver ball over in his hands.

Twin Roses

This ship isn't as shiny as the Starduck, but it's the one Din is on and Din often brings him onto the ship with him. Grogu still likes this ship and has taken to climbing up to look out the various windows while Din does... whatever it is that he does. He can also be found either in, or climbing down from, Din's bunk. Usually ignoring Din's orders to 'stay there.'

Babysitting Duty!

So you've been asked (ordered?) to babysit the kid while Din goes off and does something dangerous. Aren't you lucky! What do you do?!

At least it looks like BD-1 is enjoying the interaction. He certainly loves the attention.

Cal works at loosening the cover panel so he can have a look at the console's wiring. He glances at the child when he hears the noise, lips quirking slightly. "You know, I wonder how old you are. You remind me of a wise old Jedi Master I know, and he was centuries old. And you definitely seem to understand what I'm saying, so I have to wonder..."

He turns his attention back to the mess of wires, carefully reaching in to hold some aside so he can have a better look. "Might still be some things loose from when we all crashed," he murmurs to himself.

Grogu loves giving him the attention, so it works out!

He looks up at that. Cal must be talking about Master Yoda! He's the only wise Jedi Master Grogu can think of who he might remind anyone of. He nods, making another noise. Yes! He knows exactly who you're talking about, Cal! He knew Yoda!

That has Cal look back at Grogu then, brows lifting as he eases himself to sit on the floor. "You know who I'm talking about?" He can't help but grin a little, glad to be getting somewhere with the small one.

"...were you training to be a Jedi too?"

Grogu watches Cal, BD-1 forgotten for the moment. He nods. That he was. He was at the Jedi Temple, even.

"Me too," Cal says quietly. "I was a padawan when we were fighting the Clone Wars. And then...everything changed."

He probably doesn't need to expound on that. Given that Grogu's acknowledged Master Yoda and that he'd been training too, Cal figures the little one has gone through similar. Hiding. Surviving.

Grogu's ears lower and he looks down with a soft noise. That was a sad and terrible day. He remembers it well... though he sometimes wishes he didn't. Being spirited away from the Jedi Temple and hidden while all of his friends were killed. Not a happy memory.

Such are memories that come all too easily and with little prompting. They'd lost so much that getting caught up in the sorrow made it difficult to think about anything else. Cal slowly reaches out to pat the little one on the back.

"At least you and me, and even Master Kenobi are proof that some of us survived. And I'm sure there have to be more out there. That's something to take comfort in." True his own hope in that had waned as the years went on and he remained in hiding. But a lot has happened in such a short time, and even being here, he feels like he's in a better place than he'd been.

And Ahsoka! He smiles, making a happy noise as he remembers how nice she'd been to them. He nods, Cal is right. Some of them survived, so it wasn't completely bad...

The smile from the little one is enough to cheer up Cal, and he's glad they can both agree and find comfort in something positive. BD-1 borbles encouragingly at them both.

"Do you still practice? Using the Force?" the padawan prompts then. "I kind of had to relearn everything in a hurry."

Grogu hesitates for just a moment. But Cal is a Jedi, too. That will be alright, right?

He pulls a small silver ball out of his sleeve and holds it out in his hand. Focusing for a moment, he raises the ball with the Force, floating it in the air between them.

Cal says nothing at the hesitation. It's something he completely understands. But Grogu has his full attention when the little one brings out the ball. The hole in it...did it used to belong on something?

A smile touches his face as he watches the ball rise, Cal nodding encouragingly. He holds his own hand out, giving the lightest nudge of the ball through the Force.

Shhh. Din still doesn't know he has it. He doesn't want him to take it away...

Grogu smiles, moving his hand to nudge the ball back towards Cal. Force catch!

Cal chuckles and draws his hand back a little before gesturing subtly to send the ball floating back. Who says you can't have a little fun practicing?

Grogu giggles and motions to slow the ball's approach. He gestures to send the ball in an arc, raising up in the air before floating down towards Cal.

Watching nearby, BD-1 whistles gleefully as he watches the metal sphere fly, glancing from the child to Cal almost expectantly. Cal grins as he takes his turn with the ball, making it circle in the air a couple of times before arcing gently towards Grogu.

Grogu makes a happy noise, raising his arms and giggling as he watches the ball soar around the room. He hasn't used the Force like this in years. It's wonderful!

When it gets closer, he looks to BD-1. He should play, too! Concentrating, he moves his hands and gently floats the ball over to land on the droid's head.

The droid beeps in pleasant surprise before shifting back and forth as he balances the ball on his head. Once he feels he's got it under control, he tweedles and dips his head before pushing up to send the metal ball back into the air between them again.

Force powers he does not have, but he can improvise!

Grogu giggles, holding his hands up to cheer the droid on in his little balancing act. Once the ball is airborne again, he holds out a hand and uses the Force to pull it into his palm. He holds it in his hands and beams at Cal.

Cal laughs, giving an approving nod at the little one. "Not bad! You've got some good control there," he says. "Any time you want to play- I mean practice," he corrects himself with a crooked grin,"-let me know, all right?"

He nods. That was fun! They'd definitely do it again. He smiles at both Cal and BD-1, clearly pleased with the 'training.'

Is this how it would be, training younglings, a new Order of Jedi? Cal smiles faintly at the thought, reaching over to pat Grogu's head before he starts to get up.

"I'd better get back to work on figuring out this problem with the doors," he says. "Not sure how long it will take, but BeeDee can keep you company if you want."

It's a good training exercise for him! Grogu would definitely put his seal of approval on any other similar training sessions.

He giggles, his ears lowering at the pat. Smiling up at Cal, he nods in agreement. Sure! He can hang out with BD-1 while he works!

"All right then," Cal laughs, nodding at the two before he picks up his tools and turns back to the panel to get back to work.

BD-1 beeps his own acknowledgment before hopping around Grogu. Time to have some fun!
