Starduck

Grogu has no idea why he can get into this ship, but Din can't. It's such a pretty ship! Much fancier than the Razor Crest. Not that he didn't love the Razor Crest, but he can't resist the allure of the shiny buttons and knobs that this ship has to offer.

On any given day he can be found fiddling with buttons and knobs (now that he knows what most of them do, he tries to avoid ones that might break something) or standing in the kitchen trying to figure out how to make food happen. Ignoring the bunks, he got one of the lockers opened and made a little nest for himself out of the sheets and towels. He often nestles inside, turning a little silver ball over in his hands.

Twin Roses

This ship isn't as shiny as the Starduck, but it's the one Din is on and Din often brings him onto the ship with him. Grogu still likes this ship and has taken to climbing up to look out the various windows while Din does... whatever it is that he does. He can also be found either in, or climbing down from, Din's bunk. Usually ignoring Din's orders to 'stay there.'

Babysitting Duty!

So you've been asked (ordered?) to babysit the kid while Din goes off and does something dangerous. Aren't you lucky! What do you do?!

“Where are you going little one?”

Did Grogu really think he would escape the notice of the Master Jedi who also lives on this ship? Despite the fact that the lights are out and everyone else is asleep, Obi-Wan is still awake.

You’ve been caught Grogu!

Busteeeeeeed.

Grogu's ears lower when he hears the voice. Uh-oh. Uuuhhhhh. He turns to look up at Master Kenobi, um. He was hungry?

Obi-Wan just gives him a look and then beckons the youngster to come over to his bunk which was under another.

“You should be asleep, Grogu,” he says softly so as not to disturb anyone else.

“Come, tell me why you’re actually awake.”

The ship isn't the one that Cal's been assigned to, but all it takes is someone's permission to be aboard, and the padawan has gained it along with the request to look into some possible malfunctioning equipment. Honestly he's not surprised that some things might still be on the fritz given the hard landings all the ships had taken months earlier, and he's not at all annoyed at having something mundane to do.

Even with the whole spider threat taken care of, he's gotten accustomed to wearing his newly minted lightsaber at his belt, a weight and presence that's comforting in its own way, making him realize just how much he'd missed having his master's weapon there ever since he'd first woken up on this planet. The shiny metal rod is maybe slightly longer than his forearm.

Hanging over his shoulder is a worn bag of tools, and hanging onto his rigger's harness is BD-1. The two have a look around before Cal smiles over at the little green child. "Oh, looks like someone's already checking things out. Everything working here?"

Grogu looks up at Din's still helmet, reaching out gently with his mind to make sure he's asleep and not just laying there listening. Nope, he's asleep.

Turning back, he makes his way across to Master Kenobi's bunk, ears still lowered as he looks up at him. He opens his mind to the Jedi, He'd been dreaming about the Jedi Temple... about everything that happened. Being around Jedi again has brought back memories he'd been trying to avoid thinking about.

“Oh... I see,” Obi-Wan says softly. There is a sadness and a compassionate understanding in his voice. He then reaches out his hands, offering to pick Grogu up if he allows it and put him on his bunk with him.

I dream about that too. That’s why I’m awake as well.

Obi-Wan resorting to speaking to Grogu, mind to mind, so that there was no risk of disturbing anyone.

Nodding, Grogu raises his arms, letting Obi-Wan pick him up. Really, if he couldn't trust Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who could he trust?

He blinks at him, cooing softly. You do? I'm sorry, you lost so many, too.

Shiro found the accommodations on the ships rather pleasant and oddly familiar so he had opted to stay on the Starduck rather than moving to the hotel or somewhere else. He was rather surprised though by how lavish this ship was. However, he had yet to see some of the others so he couldn't compare.

But as he walked into the kitchen, intent on getting something to eat (something he actually couldn't mess up on this ship), he spotted the tiny green child already there looking up at the food dispensers.

"Hey there. Are you hungry?"

Catra strides right past Grogu in his attempts to figure out the kitchen, ignoring as she set about making her own food. She only really seems to take notice of him when she goes to take a seat, nudging him out of the way none to gently.

"Move," she grumbles.

"Do you remember me?" Billy asks abruptly, seated on the floor with the child as they play with the small selection of toys he's magicked up. He flushes then, it's not like the kid can really answer.

"I used to watch you for your...um, Dad." Is that their relationship? He's not really sure. "You're still not talking, huh? I don't suppose you can write?"

He murmurs a few words under his breath and conjures up some paper and crayons, demonstrating how they work before offering them up to the child.

Smiling sadly as he laid back on the bunk, Obi-Wan just sighed softly as he continued to speak to Grogu telepathically.

We all lost a lot that day, young one. You, me, Cal, we lost not only our friends and the only family we ever had, but our home as well. It’s natural to be sad, and lonely, even scared sometimes.

He knew that Grogu was scared. Obi-Wan could hardly blame him, especially at the thought of losing this new family he found with the Mandalorian.

Grogu sits down next to Obi-Wan, looking at him as they spoke. He hasn't talked to anyone other than Ahsoka in so very long. It's nice... even if they're speaking about something so sad. At the mention of family, he looks over at Din

He's lonely, too. There's so much fear and death and fighting everywhere.

Grogu's poking at one of the toys, curious about it. He hasn't had any sort of toy in a very long time... except for the ball he kept from the Razor Crest, of course. At the question, he looks up, tilting his head. He makes a curious noise, his ears rising. Nope, sorry, my dude, he doesn't remember you.

Oooo what are these new things? His eyes widen and he watches with interest at the demonstration. They're so pretty! He picks up the blue crayon, looking it over.

And promptly puts the pointy end in his mouth.

Grogu watches her with interest, curious about the process of making food in this strange kitchen. Not that he's big enough to do it on his own, it's still interesting.

This changes, of course, when he's so rudely pushed out of her way. He makes a surpised noise, practically falling on his face. Hey!

Grogu's attention turns to the tall person as he walks into the kitchen. He'd seen other crew members around, but as he's unable to do much but watch people it makes introductions difficult.

But, hey, at least this guy knows where it's at. He nods, making a noise and pointing up at where he knows food comes from.

"Oh-...no!-" Billy corrects belatedly, eyes wide, holding back a laugh as he tries to pull the crayon away again.

"It's not food." He scribbles again on the page, pointing to it. "See? You draw with it. You don't eat it."

With a green crayon he draws a crude little doodle of Grogu to show him.

"See?"

Obi-Wan’s gaze followed Grogu’s to the Mandalorian.

Without the Jedi, that will only continue I’m afraid. That is why those few of us who are still alive must pass on what we know. So that someday we can bring peace again.

He had very seldom spoke this way with other Jedi. It was a skill they all had but rarely used. Yet he found it nice as well to be able to communicate with Grogu.

She takes a seat, expression unmoved by the noise, though her ears do swivel back, expressing emotion much like Grogu's.

He's not her responsibility, she reasons, huffing and turning her chair so she can't see him, tail swaying behind her through the back of the chair as she chows down on her meal.

True, but that's no excuse to be rude.

He watches that tail curiously. It's enthralling, actually. What is it? Is it a cybernetic enhancement, or actually a part of her? He knows there are some races who have tails, but none he's seen who look like her. He reaches out, trying to grab hold of it.

Oh hey, someone he knows! Two someones, actually, counting BD-1. He smiles, burbling happily at the pair. Hi there! And, yes, everything seems to be in working order. He gives them a wave before pressing a button that he's learned closes the doors. They whoosh closed and he smiles. See?

Like she needs an excuse.

Her ear twitches back, hearing the movement of the child behind her, continuing to ignore him. That twitching tail evades capture for a short while before a sudden yelp confirms he's caught hold of it, and Catra jerks in surprise, banging her knees against the table as she spins round on him.

"Hey! Let go! That's not a toy."

He looked back at Obi-Wan briefly before his gaze drops. It's good to talk about this... well, it's good to talk about anything, but it's good to talk to someone who understands.

Are there enough left?

He's had to hide who he was for so long and so few people seem to even know who the Jedi were anymore. What was even the point of being trained, anyway?

Though it was a sad thing to talk about, it was something Grogu needed. They both needed it really. Obi-Wan had been in isolation for a few weeks already before being brought here and he had felt the loneliness keenly.

I don’t know. But that is why each of us is precious. So long as at least one of us remains, there is a chance for our light to grow.

That was the point. If they didn’t pass on the ways of the Jedi, then the Order would truly be gone. Their memory and wisdom lost forever.

Stooping down to be more at the kid's level, Cal also lets BD-1 down from behind him, the droid hopping to the floor as he beeps a happy greeting at the child.

Cal glances over as the doors shut, grinning back at the little one then. "Good job. Guess I brought these for nothing then," he chuckles. "But maybe a quick check on things won't hurt either. Doesn't seem to be a hurry though. You doing all right?"

"Alright, I can help with that. Is there a specific one you want?"

Shiro asked, already getting the plate to put it on. If he had a preference, he would get that one for him first. If not, he'd pick a few options for him to try.
