Lost Lion. Please Help?

This was certainly not the last place that Shiro remembered being. He had last remembered returning to Earth and ending up with his new robotic arm. As he stood there for a long moment, wracking his brain, there wasn't much more after that. Certainly, there wasn't enough he would have suddenly found himself here in a world that seemed far more dilapidated than the Garrison was with far fewer technologies.

The information that suddenly came to him was certainly helpful, but very disturbing to him. After all, what had most of his recent life been like other than some other being deciding he needed to be somewhere that he didn't consent to going?

Typical.

But Shiro was out in the town and exploring. Sure, he had the device and he did pause a few times to review it, specifically looking at the map more than anything else, but still, he'd rather see them for himself. After he had figured out where he was going, he could see if there was anything that he could assist with. If he was going to be here, might as well do something productive.

"Hey, compared to what I've seen, this isn't so bad."

At least right now...

Oh come on, he's totally is pretty bad. But he supposes that he really gets Shiro's point.

"Maybe your friends can tell you what it's like compared to your world."

Is he? He will probably have to see how bad he really is~.

"Yeah, I'll have to ask. They will have a better idea of what this place is like compared to him. At least, I'd hope they would."

Oh, people tended to have opinions on how bad Tommy was. But no doubt Shiro would see thought that. He was friends with Keith after all.

"They probably will. Keith has been here about as long as I have. We even got to be kids together, though I did try and fight him."

Shiro gave that comment a weird look.

"Got to be kids together?"

"There was a planet we went to last winter," Tommy explained. "There were these candies. If you ate them, you could be turned into a kid."

And they had gotten all argue-y

"Huh... interesting. I can't... I can't say that I have ever heard of something like that before. Unfortunately though, trying to fight is not unexpected for Keith if he was younger."

He'd seen it... way too many times.

"We were both like that," Tommy answers with a brief shrug. "I think we're similar. Keith and I."

But he doesn't know that he should say much more. Just because someone knew someone else back home doesn't mean they know them deeply. And what Tommy 'knows' he mostly suspects, based on that child interaction.

"Perhaps. I guess I'd have to see to know for sure."

Since he could speak to Keith's character when he was younger, but obviously couldn't speak to Tommy's.

Well, Tommy's character was just that, full of character.

"You think you can handle watching these guys while I refill their water troughs?"

Shiro looked down at the glownies that were gathered around him. One contently getting brushed, a few others hoping for some more mint.

"Yeah, I think I got it. They aren't too much trouble."

Besides, he could just stand up and most they could do was bump into him.

"Alright then," Tommy says with a smile as he stands. "I'll get to those chore. Shout out if you need me or it's time for more tour or you get hungry."

Yeah, he doesn't mind helping Shiro out. Tommy's like the welcoming committee.

"Sure thing."

As he headed off to do that, Shiro continued to brush the glownies, offering mint to lure others in when closer so he could brush them. At least they seemed happy enough with this arrangement... even if there was a lot of attempting to get the mint from his hand or even off his person in general.

Damn but he's cute all surrounded by glownies. That's Tommy's educated opinion of course. He finishes the other chores and even rushes off to gather more mint for Shiro and the animals.

After he's given the guy a bit of time he returns to Shiro.

"Still having fun?"

Shiro kind of lost himself a bit in taking care of the glownies. It was nice. Even considering that they far outnumbered him, it was relaxing to be able to be there and take care of them. He was very appreciative of the mint that was brought so he could keep feeding them.

"I am. Hard not to when they are rather cute."

"I think they've made a glownie believer of you," Tommy smiles, arms crossed over his chest. "It's good, they could use attention. I'm hoping to talk to Stark to see if he can make some machines to do stuff with their wool, to just weave it or something. He should be able to manage that."

"I think so too. I'm a believer now. Isn't that right, little guy?" He asked the glownie he was currently brushing. It made what might be considered a happy sound. "I'd be happy to come up and make sure that they are taken care of."

He thought about that for a moment. "I can't see why we wouldn't be able to. It would be another resource at our disposal."

"Yeah, and it's probably better than begging the Agrii for clothes," Tommy agrees.

Though who knew whether the wool would still glow once woven. Interesting questions, ones he'd have to figure out the answers to later. For now? Now he smiles to himself.

"They've been lonely, I think, since Sansa left."

"The Agrii don't give good options or they are unlikely to listen?"

It would be interesting to see. Would make it easier to spot people at night if it still did. Though, he'd imagine whatever made it glow would eventually fade the longer it was no longer attached to the glownie. But that would be something to test later.

"So Sansa was the one taking care of them before?"

"They... don't always understand what we mean. I asked for a stuffed animal once, as a gift for someone. They gave me something htat looked rabbit and had blood around its mouth."

It was pretty hard to come back from that. But the question about Sansa makes Tommy sigh.

"Yeah. Her and her direwolf, Lady. A few other people too. They're sorta mostly gone now. A lot of people who were here left."

"Huh... I mean. I could see the confusion there having been around enough aliens who are unfamiliar with our phrases, but that still... that is not what I would have expected you'd get."

He was quiet for a moment after he said that.

"I'm sorry to hear that so many are gone now."

"Yeah, I didn't expect it either," Tommy admits with a shrug. "But they do things like that all the time. As if they can't understand our language except in small chunks."

Sorry to hear they're gone. Oh man, it's not that simple at all.

"The ones that are gone, they go home, I think. So we should be happy they are."

But that doesn't take away the loneliness.

"Ah. So this is a common thing. Probably better to try and be as self-sufficient as possible then. Don't want to ask for peanut butter and get peanuts in the shell in heavy cream."

Shiro nodded. "It's a complicated thing. You know they are in a better place, but at the same time, they were people that you cared about, that you talked to. So it's both good and bad."

Exactly.

"Oh no, they'll get peanut butter right. But they'll also give you things that look like burgers and taste like peanut butter. The one thing we know is that Agrii like the taste of peanut butter."

So it's safe, even if it's a potential allergen and pretty much everyone would come after Tommy if he tried to serve them peanuts at this point. But he definitely nods at what Shiro notes.

"In a place like this, it's like those movies where people become sorta like family by the end. So you're losing people you care about. You've gotta figure out how much you're willing to open yourself up to that."

"Oh... well, that's odd. I guess kind of like the blue banana."

Shiro nodded his head, understanding. "Yeah, sometimes family is not the ones you are given, but the ones that you make. Even though it will hurt when they are gone, it was still good to know them at the time."
