Jedi Lost
WHO: Obi-Wan Kenobi and YOU
WHERE: Throughout Tembra
WHAT: A new arrival!
WHEN: Beginning of December
WARNINGS: None - Will update if needed.
It was a strange experience.
Obi-Wan Kenobi had recently moved into the little hut that he found abandoned near the Dune Sea on Tatooine. His Eopie had been munching on feed nearby while he fiddled with the broken down vaporator, trying to get it running again so that he would have a source of water. The twin suns beating down on him as he worked. It was miserable work, but it was necessary. The hood of his cloak pulled over his head to protect him from the suns and the blowing sand.
He had just put in a new part and was hooking it up when things suddenly changed. He found himself waking up in a strange place, surrounded by old crumbling buildings covered in overgrowth. A far cry for the beak desert planet he had just been on. In alarm he tried to get his bearings, confusion overwhelming and threatening panic which is managed to quell by releasing his feelings into the Force. It was then that he caught sight of a glowing orb, finding himself drawn to it.
After getting the mental download, things were clearer, but he was no more happy for it. He shouldn't be here. This wasn't his place. His destiny and purpose was to be on that force forsaken planet, looking after a young boy who was no more than a baby. Not in this strange place called Agra 10. He had to get back, yet he didn't know the first clue on how to do so. If he could just find out where he was exactly, find a ship, something, he could get back to Luke.
Not trusting the device that he found himself with, he tucked it away in his robe and began exploring the dilapidated city. His hood still pulled over his head as he snuck about and rummaged around. His senses on the alert for anything that might be perceived as a threat. Any sudden movement likely resulting in him whirling around and taking the defensive with lightsaber in hand or a force push for anything that got too close. He was on edge, suspicious of everything, expecting to be attacked.
In his explorations he eventually comes upon the hangar, hope filling him as he sees the grounded ships. Finally, something that looked promising! The Jedi making a dash for them, and finding that he could only access one which happened to open up for him when he came near. It was the Twin Roses. With the utmost caution he carefully stepped onto the ship, hoping not to run into anyone, and making his way to the cockpit.
((OOC: Feel free to run into him just about anywhere in the city! If you want to continue off a TDM thread I'm cool with that too!))

"Forgive me, but I don't recognize you. Are you new? I'm Reeve, by the way."
no subject
“I’m... Ben.” And he just can’t help himself as the doll waves at him. “Is that... thing. Is it alive?”
no subject
"Yes, and no," Reeve admits. "It is animated through magic. Though Mini-C here is fully self aware, with his own personality and desires. Not unlike some of the 'droids' I have met in this place. However he is not a living being in the same manner that I am."
no subject
Thus they have no signature in the Force at all. This doll was different, though he would agree it didn't feel like an actual living creature either. It was as if it was somewhere in between. It was very odd to him.
no subject
"Droids are purely technology. Engineering and computers and the like. Mini comes from magic. There is a difference."
He's sorry that it's odd, but Reeve is used to this reaction by now. It meant that he took the observation with a smile and quite a good deal of patience.
"Does it help, Ben, if I tell you that he means no harm?"
no subject
"Oh, forgive me. I'm not afraid of your little friend. It's simply that, I have the ability to sense living things. Though I'm not certain what you mean exactly by magic, it clearly is different from what I'm accustomed to."
Some liked to think of what he did as magic, but Obi-Wan could argue that point.
no subject
Not that he knows Cal would be known to this man. Or would come to be known to him. It's just what it could be.
"Magic is... Well, it's very hard to explain when I cannot display it beyond Mini himself. But back home I could call lightning or fire or ice. Mini is just a different form of magic."
no subject
“Your magic must use some element of the Force. Which is to say, it’s an energy present in all life. If it didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to feel it.”
It’s a curious thing indeed. There were very rare instances where life just spontaneously appeared. But any individual being able to create life with the Force was unheard of.
no subject
"I continue to puzzle people," he says with a chuckle. "I haven't really tried to look into it so deeply."
no subject
Either way, it didn't really matter. The fact was that the man was capable of it, no matter the how or why. Obi-Wan then turns his attention back to the doll and bends over a bit to be more on its level.
"Forgive me if I offended you little one. It was certainly not my intention."
no subject
The fact that he addressed Mini directly earned a warm and happy smile from Reeve. As for Mini, the doll held out a hand to shake.
"He forgives you for the unintended slight, and thanks you for the greeting. Most people aren't comfortable enough with that."
no subject
"It is my hope that we can become friends." This said to both Mini and Reeve as Obi-Wan straightened up to look at the man again.
no subject
"It is mine as well, Ben. As for Mini, he loves making friends."
Mini, hand shaken, was nodding vigorously now.
"I should warn you. My goal is to one day upgrade his form, which means he will be able to talk. Hopefully this will not bother you."
no subject
"Oh, not at all. We have droids that can speak as well. I look forward to having some interesting conversations." So long as Mini isn't the type to tell him the unlikely odds of everything they do or the like. There were some protocol droids that were a bit insufferable.
no subject
"Yes, I've heard how droids speak. I cannot understand them, but Mini seems to get on with them well enough," Reeve muses. But he didn't know any protocol droids, so it was interesting.
no subject
Obi-Wan personally didn't like relying on droids if he could help it. Thus he had taken it upon himself to learn several languages himself. Plus there were situations where having a translator droid wasn't always possible.
no subject
"So you have droids to translate droids?"
no subject
It was a ridiculous thing, but the droid was loyal and proficient in what he did. Obi-Wan had relied on it a few times, including what he would consider the worst day of his life.
no subject
"Including interpretive dance?"
Was it wrong of him to want to know?
no subject
“I wouldn’t be surprised in all honesty.”
no subject
"You're newer, yes? Welcome to our... Well, I don't know much how to call it."
no subject
Obi-Wan was never attached to droids. Certainly not in the way that Anakin has been. He had always thought his former student was overly fond of the machines. It had created a problem more than once.
“Yes, I’ve only recently arrived. Whatever it might be called, I thank you for the welcome.”

"I'm certain if you reach out to our communication network, people might be able to tell you where we're particularlly lacking. I think agriculture and medicine are two of the less served areas. And engineering is always useful. Security less so on the planet itself, and piloting only when we're on the ships."
But sometimes they're not prepared for when they are going ot head onto the ships so what can you do?
