Doctor's Check Up- Network- Text

Hey everyone.

So, that was a really trying couple weeks.
I just wanted to remind everyone that if they need anything they can drop by the hospital.

[Billy seems to be expecting him, not so easily startled for once.]

Um...why don't you just go chronologically, I guess?

Shit man, even that's complicated. I don't always know when all this shit happened. Uh... David I guess. We, uh... started dating.

I won't know.

[He can't help but grin, happy for his brother.]

Were you guys a thing before Mother, or just once we got you back? How did it happen?

Loaded question, man.

[Tommy finds the first place he can sit comfortably and does so.]

I guess I was still sorta in the questioning phase then. Sure I'd made out with a guy or two at clubs, claiming I was drunk or high or caught up in the moment. But that's not really something I can be, right? We sorta hit it off at work. And by hit it off I mean he was my age and he looked good and interesting so I asked him to go to lunch with me after his shift was over. And then coffee another day when he didn't want to go clubbing. And dragged him along to my stakeout. I sorta wanted to have the courage to ask.

[He had opened up so much to David because he had realized so fast that David got it. And he wasn't going to admit to his brother that the whole time he was at the club that weekend he had been thinking about David.]

You know how he got me back from the whole Patrinot thing?

[Billy moves to join, head tilting as Tommy explains, surprised to find him so open.]

No, no one really explained that part, you were just...there.

[Yeah, it must have been like that for Billy.]

He kissed the thing that took me, and it brought he back, putting me right where he was. And there wasn't much he could do about it. I sorta just shoved him away, said it was too fast, and joined the party. It was weird, the whole time we were out to breakfast.

[Billy gives a small snicker at hearing Tommy use the phrase 'too fast', not able to stop that teasing grin.]

Kisses my fiancé, kisses my brother, I don't know if I should be mad at David or wondering what's wrong with me.

[The look Tommy shoots his brother is one that says he's so tired of that joke. Sure, for Billy it's new, but for Tommy? It's old hat. He's beyond tired of it.]

I was pretty fucked up after it all, and scared of commitment and a lot of stuff. Freaked out by all of you and the things you get up to. So I went to space with Noh-Varr for a bit. Then when I came back David was flirting with this girl at a party we were both at and I just sorta... flipped. Just swept in and kissed him. After i claimed I had too much to drink.

[Such a damn lie.]

[Billy snorts fondly at that excuse.]

Knowing David, I'm guessing he saw right through that?

[Oh hush. Tommy can't help the way he's blushing now.]

It became a thing. Going out to bars with you guys and him. One of us getting 'tipsy' and making out. Like you and Teddy used to do. I was scared he'd reject me. He realized I needed the cover.

[Billy grins. He so rarely gets to see Tommy like this, especially for a happy reason.]

So which of you finally made things official?

[Yeah, happy reason. Fuck, little bro. He's in love.]

Him. It was after this night in a club in Germany. You and Teddy don't know yet back home. Stuff hit fans and all of that. Granted, I haven't seen him as much since Krakoa. But he got to come to the wedding so I got to introduce him to mom and sad. Even though David and Wanda were SUPER awkward.

[Tommy. In love. Billy never thought he'd see it. Tommy wears it very well. Little bro is very happy for him.]

What's Krakoa? [And there was that wedding again. There's so much he wants to know.]

[Tommy is really in love, and he looks so pleased. But that name earns a sigh.]

Mutant nation. Apparently Xavier and Mags and tons of others just made a mutant nation again. Can get there through plant gates. They made people accept them because of these three drugs. One to enhance human life spans, one to cure mental illness, one to cure diseases. David lives there now. He's a member of the new X-Factor.

[Plant gates? Cure for-?? Billy blinks, not fully understanding, and feeling an unease he can't really explain.]

Wh- how...w-...?

[Where to even begin?]

They literally did just. Not even kidding, man. They did it. They're a fucking country. They have their own language, spoken and written.

Few months. Don't know. Nearly all mutants live somewhere in Krakoan territory these days. But they have secrets. A lot of them. Like... David has his powers back.

[Tommy neither knows, nor thinks he'd approve of, how it happened.]

[Brows creasing, Billy frowns. This all sounds very...wrong. Very obviously wrong, and it concerns him that whatever this is has happened so quickly. And enveloped so many...]

...I don't understand. How is any of that possible?

[Oh Billy, you have no fucking clue.]

All I know is that it's got to do with plants and a LOT of Omega-Levels working together for the first time. I'm sorta not... Listen, it's complicated. There's questions back home as to whether we're even mutants or not, if Wanda and Pietro are really Mags', all that shit. So my boyfriend moved away and I'm just lucky the gates mean I can see him quickly when he isn't investigating murders and all that.

Plants??

[Billy never did get around to testing for an X-gene, but the thought that he might not be a mutant still sets him off. He might not be accepted as part of that community, but it's still part of him. ]

Of course we are, why- how could he not be? Pietro looks just like him.

I don't know a lot about Krakoa, B. Please don't ask too much. All I know is that David was visiting there, and then Teddy went off and did his shit, and then David was missing for a few days, and then one night he showed up at our apartment and just curled up in my arms and I could feel him trying not to cry, and he had his powers.

[Tommy would happily point out that he and Billy had Mags' jaw too. But they were created by WANT and MAGIC. So they looked like what Wanda wanted them to.]

Yeah. Murders. Apparently Northstar's sister died.

[There is no way NOT to ask to much. With each new reveal Billy feels more and more confused. And less and less sure how this has been allowed to go on what sounds like completely unchecked.]

[Yeah, that's... pretty fair. Tommy breathes a deep sigh and then shrugs.]

Listen, it could be worse. Like, a LOT worse. For one thing, the Skrull and Kree could still be at war, and not probably frantically googling Judaism.
