[The image starts out crooked but the Exo's actively adjusting it before he steps back and gives someone a thumb's up off-screen.]

All right, so good news? Nothing sprung a leak despite prior circumstances, surrounding area's a little damp though, but all in all? Everything's pretty much how I left it. Even got some supposed cyanana booze that's been uh...going through this still since before we left for space. -okay I'm not exactly sure how that might taste? So in the meantime, I've got a backup plan.

[He seems to remember something then, coming up close to the communicator.]

But Cayde, you say, what's all this about anyway? Excellent question! I was so excited I forgot to say. Ahem. So, some of you- a good number, actually, might be aware that I have been in the process of putting together a bar-slash-common gathering area type of hangout...thing. It's pretty much been done, just not stocked- but now that we're finally back from...all that and then some, I've got a selection of fine drinks for your...uh... drinking pleasure. Also some non-alcoholic stuff for the non-drinkers and the under-aged. Oh, and there's tea and coffee too.

[Fishing around in his pocket, he holds up a map he's drawn up, the location circled.]

We're right down here, southeast sector, past the lake- I'm working on getting some kind of a landmark but this place is fresh out of neon signs. Anyway! I'll be around. Come as you please, even if I'm not- don't trip up the stairs, help yourself and uh, don't mind if the fish stare at you.

Making the network announcement had helped to fully kick his mood back into a semblance of normal. Truth be told, he just wanted to gather up people together, real people, and settle in with an ambiance of more pleasant times and warmer company.

The backdrop of the water-filled courtyard that made up the center of the nest of buildings had been something Cayde had at the time thought whimsical. During the daylight hours the light that filtered through the large window was a wavering green-blue, offset by the small sconces along the wall and a few individual lanterns at tables and flanking the bar area adjacent to the makeshift aquarium.

Cayde had set up the various bottles of drinks he'd acquired from their planetary pit-stop and scavenged from the cafe on a somewhat crooked shelf behind the bar itself. He'd been trying to go for rustic like those Old West saloons but in the middle gave up and just let things shape itself as he found them. The glassware is just as mismatched as the furniture, but everything's clean and ready to be made use of. If there's anything he really wishes he had, it would be an old-fashioned phonograph player or some kind of music source just to drive off the quiet that filled the space when no people did.

The visual display is actually quite useful, enough that Lauri-Ell looks at it very seriously and considers the mug. And, though she might not want to admit it, she finds the thing fetching. So very fetching.

"It is beautiful," she tells him, reaching out to touch the side very lightly. "This is what whimsy is? I think I like whimsy."

"See?" Cayde grins, feeling accomplished. "Whimsy's like a flavoring to otherwise everyday, straight-forward things. Life would be a lot more dull without some whimsicality to it."

Around here especially, he figures. He's used to being the fun one surrounded by straight-laced people, and all the more so did it seem people had to remember to try enjoying themselves when they could, around even a place like this.

"So, what was your name again? Laurie? Somethin' close?"

"Lauri-Ell. It is my pleasure to meet you."

She continues to consider the cup, turning it very carefully.

"I admit, I am not certain as to whether my life has had much whimsy in it."

"Back at'cha. Name's Cayde. This is Sundance." The Exo thumbs over at his Ghost, who dips slightly in acknowledgment as she hovers.

Leaning on the bar again, Cayde gives a little shrug. "Eh, never too late to change that. Sometimes it depends on the circumstances. But hey, you know something of it now, which means it's an open option now. Just gotta keep an eye out for opportunity."

Lauri-Ell gives the Ghost a very thoughtful look. And then back to Cayde.

"What are you?"

"Complicated."

Cayde smirks. "We're called Exos, back home. Robots, if you don't wanna get fancy. Not exactly, but I mean, we cover most of the qualifications so really, we don't get worked up being called otherwise."

Complicated is a concept she understands. She was not born, she was created by careful scientific ends. So truly, a complication was not something she was bothered by.

"Sapient robots are not known in my understanding of the multiverse as very welcoming to biologicals. Which makes you intriguing for your differences. But I have never met an Exo, therefore you are clearly different."

An alien to earth well familiar with other species had a very easy time making the distinctions.

"Hm, that right? Well, we were made by humans. We used to be human."

Cayde supposes he shouldn't be surprised. There'd been enough concerns about the Warminds overstepping their bounds, and Exos themselves hadn't been developed without consideration of fighting capabilities. Now he supposes there's only so many of them and yet enough that they're as common a sight and accepted as anyone else dwelling in the Last City.

Made by humans and formerly humans? Intriguing. That did not make full sense to her, but she took it as given. What purpose would he have to not tell her the truth? Not that, without her hammer in hand, she could confirm one way or another the validity of his words.

"So you are truly of Earth."

"Sure am. Was it that obvious?" Cayde chuckles, shrugging. "Yeah. My Earth's different from the ones everyone else that says they're from is, so far as I can tell. We've been through a lot. Humanity's not in the best place, but it's still got a place and that's what counts."

Was it obvious? No. Not at all. She did not understand it, this was beyond their technological capabilities. Even that of 'Iron Man'. But to hear it is a different Earth makes the explanation easier to take.

"I am glad you still have a place, and a world. That is not easy."

"Sure isn't, especially when it seems everyone else out in the universe is out to get you. But we make do, and we're still kickin'." Cayde knows there's still a lot of things they don't understand about, well, a whole lot of things, but they've been given the means to protect themselves, to protect others who can't. While it's possible that it's exactly that means that's lured all the bad things to have it out for them, it's not like they can just ignore it or reject it now. A rough and violent cycle, but there are far worse things lurking in deep space and dark places.

"So how 'bout you? What's your story?"

Oh, she can give her story. It's easy.

"I'm a genetically engineered super soldier, meant to serve as a great warrior in a war that was ended by the Emperor uniting the Alliance. I am now the justice of the throne."

"Whoa, uh, wow. Okay..! That's...that certainly is a story," Cayde concludes after a few blinks. "Sounds like a heavy job. So like, people come to you with their problems and you handle them? That sorta thing?"

Oh yes, a very heavy job. Good thing she is very strong.

"No, not that at all. I am the Accuser. I go where wrong as been done, determine the truth, and pass judgement."

See, she's a good girl.

"My job is to bring peace and justice and honor."

Cayde's eyes almost brighten at that. "Ooh, now that's a title. The Accuser. Brrr. If I still had skin I'd probably get goosebumps hearing it. But that aside...yeah. Pretty much what I said. Problem presented. You handle it. Personally not my thing so I'm glad someone else has to do it back home."

Yes, goosebumps. What are goosebumps? Her head tilts with confusion at that.

"I was called by the Universal Weapon. The Emperor chose to allow me it."

No explanation is forthcoming, unfortunately. Cayde's already latched onto this Universal Weapon thing. "What, wait- that's it? It's just called the Universal Weapon? It better be something or I might just be disappointed."

"Yes, it is the Universal Weapon. There are more than just this one. But it is a powerful tool for truth and honor."

And she supposes she could go collect it.

"I have left it somewhere safe.

[deal_me_in]

"Yeah, but what does it look like! You can't just say Universal Weapon and have people nod like, oh yeah, that thing."

Well now she's done it. The fact that there is something known as the Universal Weapon here just makes the Exo giddy. He does love weapons. Suddenly he's practically leaning across the bar.

"Wait, wait, wait. So you mean to tell me you have it here?"

"I can fetch it," Lauri-Ell offers, tilting her head. He's going to be so shocked by the hammer. "It is decidedly here. I would not be an Accuser without it."

[deal_me_in]

Cayde beams, straightening as he settles back from the counter again. "Would you? I would love to see this amazing weapon that The Accuser wields." He is so very sincere about this.

[kree_soldieress]

"Yes. It will take me time to go and return. Will my coffee stay warm?"

SHe does like the coffee.

[deal_me_in]

"Euuuuh...." He's blindsided by the question, taking a moment to pick back up. "Might not, depending on how long it takes you to go back and forth. Okay, you don't needa like, go right now. But I can always get you a fresh, piping hot cup of coffee either way."

More coffee? Yes, this is an acceptable agreement. She pushes to her feet and offers him back the cup.

"Give me several minutes. I shall fetch it here."
