Weapons systems weren't high enough on the list of immediate concerns for Reeve to be colourfully cursing, so Tony gave Raph a skeptical look for his priorities and asked, "Is that what you're looking for in there? That box is all veterinary equipment. Look, it says..." He indicated to the box Raphael was digging in and the alien writing up the side of it, frowned, and gave an apologetic shrug. What that box was doing on this alien ship was another matter that was mildly concerning. Reeve's hand was jutting out by then, so Tony immediately grabbed it to haul him out and up so they were both standing at the panel, where Tony was less immediate to move back and give Reeve the room to make a questionable call. That was Tony's panel, he was doing something. He didn't get in the way, but loomed sulkily, watching Reeve's work closely.
What could be better than weapons? The question is quite evident on the turtle teen's face, even though he doesn't voice it.
"-wait, what?? You could've told me earlier!" he grumps, not that he'd been looking in there very long. Although he has to wonder about why there's such equipment as well, he's more annoyed at how disorganized all the boxes around here are. But then that's probably just because he can't read any of them.
"I was looking for either weapons or ship stuff. There any of those?" he asks, stepping back as Tony helps Reeve up.
Anything. ANYTHING would be better than weapons. Weapons was violence. Weapons was a failure at diplomacy. Reeve mentions neither of these things and lets Tony pull him to his feet. Because he knows that hand very well, and knows it as soon as it grips his own.
Once he's standing he shakes his head at Tony.
"Should have told him," Reeve mumbles under his breath, intending to only be heard by Tony. The tension between them shouldn't affect the rest of the team. They were the adults here. Most of the rest of their team hadn't even seen twenty years. They were the ones with the kids here.
"Billy, you have magic, correct? Perhaps you could help the gentleman look for weapons."
Is he trying to dismiss Raph while he tries to process what he's found, crowding into Tony's space to control the panel? Yep.
"Tony... There were some locked functions earlier, right? Can you should me how you pull them up in the system? I think... I think I know what they are. But I need to see how they display on the screen to be certain."
That was an unnecessary comment, and Tony frowned for the unwelcome input, replying in the same hushed tone, "How was I supposed to know what he wanted? Maybe he was looking for medical supplies, he's a turtle..." Twirling a finger in the air to tie up that thought that Tony felt had been pretty obvious, thank you, he cut a look Raphael's way and flashed him an innocent smile. Reeve's suggestion for Raph to continue his hunt with Billy was seconded with a nod of encouragement and roll of his eyes, can you believe this guy?, Raphael's direction, before Tony was continuing in his murmur, "They're not going to find any."
Tony wasn't easy to jostle away, stepping around Reeve just to lean close over the other shoulder only when he had to, but he provided what Reeve asked for without argument. With both arms cradled around James, Tony tilted his head as though listening closely, and the display panel flickered with manic rapidity through a variety of interaction prompts and alien text before Tony arranged what he could in a logical folder array that Reeve could scan through, drawing up one for demonstration, labled first in unreadable alien lettering, display interference, then 'SECURITY -- MANAGEMENT'. "Most everything I can see is there, just..." he prompted, shuffling that file back into place and flicking the deck of them up on a swipable carousel.
Yeah, Raph knows when he's not wanted. All the techy stuff goes right over his head- this is more Donnie's department and he'd be all over it.
He looks at the two flatly, rolling his eyes in turn at Tony's, before turning to stalk off and try his luck with another box, looking for the magical Billy of Starkian legend. Hey, if they can't find any weapons, maybe the other kid can magick some up.
Security management. And the lettering vaguely familiar. Reeve considers the thing for a while, tapping the wall because he doesn't think he should touch the screen lest he break something.
At last he turns away from it, though he does have to duck under Tony's arm a little to do so. This is something everyone should hear.
It's... it's a decision he's not certain he should make. Unilateral decisions on this scale were something Shinra did, and he wasn't Shinra.
"I believe I have found a way to bypass traditional security protocols to instead route secondary, override control of the Agri ship's functions through this control panel. However, with the way the system is wired, if I do so from here, I likely would fry the communication network Tony has spliced us into. Granted the ship has the broadcast system Tony found. It's possible that will still function, so we can relay messages out. But we may not be able to receive them. I'll have to inspect the systems further. It will take at least twenty minutes for me to find all the leads and determine what might happen."
"We need control of the ship if we're going to do anything useful for the rest of the teams," Ren says, the words coming out a bit sharp. He's not used to going about things even remotely democratically; he'd been the Supreme Leader of the entire First Order and had been a Sith when there weren't any left. He doesn't do compromise. Still, the tiniest part of Rey in his head stays his hand. He cannot kill everyone here.
"There's no point in being able to talk to anyone if we're floating in dead space and open to an attack. All we'll be able to tell them is that we're being attacked and distract them from the task at hand. Control the ship. The rest can wait."
Raphael turns as Reeve speaks up again to address them all.
"I kinda agree with Curly. We're not doing much here but waiting for updates from people. If we can help somehow from where we are, let's do it."
He frowns. "Knocking out comms might be a definite problem though. We're supposed to be the support, and that's gonna be hard to offer if we don't know what they need. We have visuals on everyone?"
Hauling Reeve up and configuring the display for him was enough to leave Tony in what looked like a meditative state, stepping back to lean his unsteady weight against the console when Reeve brushed past and cuddling with his head bowed close around James, taking measured breaths to control his stomach and avoid puking in front of Reeve's gathered assembly. Control of the ship, good, that was good, not even a question. That sounded like Kylo Ren's voice that Tony was definitely agreeing with, which made him think that maybe this could use further consideration, but it was Raphael's question that had him slitting his eyes open. "I can see where everyone is, and where the unknowns are. We'll be able to anticipate what they need, I believe, and if we have control, those teams wont have to split up to leave a station manned. Keeping them together is more valuable than keeping the lines open."
The Child seems to be quite determined to go out after his father. Billy's been chasing after him through out all this, keeping a general idea of what they're discussing.
"Weapons stuff is in that box," he supplies belatedly, a magical blue aura lighting one up as he joins them, Child in hand.
"So, what are you saying? We can help more, but...it's possible we might not be able to actually communicate with everyone? That seems kind of...I mean, shouldn't we ask the others how they feel about that before we just decide for them?"
Rayla stared cautiously at Billy. She was slowly getting used to the idea that humans could, indeed, use proper magic without being corrupted. It had been a major shift in her beliefs, for certain. Either way, weapons were good. She honestly felt useless without her blades, so she needed something.
Also, she was beginning to think she was going to have to pick one of those glowy orb sphere things when and if they ever got back to where they'd been. She was starting to feel pretty out of the loop by not.
Still, she went over to investigate said box to see what she could find.
"You'll need to give out people a warning, at least... somehow... without tipping off the enemy," she offered, putting the obvious out there. "If you cut them off, and they decide not to stay together anyway, they should at least know they'll be mostly on their own."
All interesting points. And ones that Reeve cannot argue against. At all.
"In the end I would worry that too much time conversing with them might well consume all the time that they needy to achieve whatever ends they are set about. However, we should definitely advise them before starting the change over."
Reeve sighs and offers Tony a brief nod before lowering himself back to the floor.
"The process will take a while to initiate. I'll start with some of the initial work that won't impair the comm systems, so that the bypass can take place quickly if it is determine that is what we should do. Is this fair?"
Raphael glances over towards the abruptly glowing box, blinking. "Oh, uh. Thanks." That was easy.
He nods along with the elf chick and the other points, but so far he's heard no hard no's. To Reeve, he gives a thumbs-up. "Sounds good to me," he says before turning towards the box Billy had indicated earlier. It's not like he can work on the system, but sitting around waiting is definitely not his style, so he may as well look through things.
Rayla quirked an eyebrow at Reeve's idea of a 'discussion' as she moved over to allow the turtle teen room so they could go through the box together. And, of course, Tony suggesting keeping the team together. She gestured at the screen showing that two people had already separated from the main rescue group.
"What about those two?" she asked. "We don't need to have a big discussion about it with them. Just give them warning and then do it, right?"
If it was Tony with his hands in the machine like it should have been, the override would have been done already and this little meeting would have been more informative than reciprocal, if it happened at all. Reeve was too hesitant, and 'just give them a warning and do it' was a better use of their time, so Tony's attention slid to the girl curiously. "Sorry, who are you?" he asked, then turned to the screen she had indicated, impatient. That breakout team was Catra and whoever Cayde had said went with her, and Tony had a feeling that was going to be an ongoing problem--hopefully, letting that feral kitten know she'd be cut off would minimize the urge to scamper off at least a little bit. "If it's looking like they're struggling to coordinate themselves, we can always start locking doors," he offered. That was what control of the ship really meant. Not just the systems, but what the systems controlled. "Let them know, get it done. We can debate whether or not this motley crew is a democracy some other time."
"Tell them what we're doing. Nothing will get done if we're trying to vote with them and among ourselves," Ren says, voice cutting over some of the others. He's used to being in charge and having to vote for things and listen to the input of others is grating to him. Still, he's trying to play by the rules for now.
"They can adapt same as we can. They wouldn't have chosen to be where they are if they couldn't handle it, same as why we chose to be here."
Agreeing with someone instead of telling someone something is new and he doesn't know if it's going to become a habit of his. He certainly hopes not.
"What he said," Raphael snaps as he thumbs back at Kylo Ren, his focus otherwise still upon things in the box. Do things now, explain later. As they can. The comm thing is the issue, after all, but it doesn't mean they're entirely cut off.
That said, Raph's not offering to inform anyone unless someone tells him he should. He's busy trying to figure out what any of the things in the box are, though.
"Well aren't we all imperious with decisions," Reeve mumbles to himself as he returns to the task at hand. Seems like a decision was made and he was going to have a lot of work to do to get himself to the point of ready to flip the switch.
"Someone contact the other teams to advise them of the decision. You can choose to delay until I say I'm about ten minutes out, but giving them more time to ensure they are aware of the decision would be reasonable."

"Name's Rayla," she said quickly to him, leaving it at that for now. They could do a 'get to know you' once all this was finished.
As for contacting the other teams... she'd leave that someone else. She wasn't good with tech, okay?
