Adventuring in Space

WHO: Cloud Strife, Everyone on board the Twin Roses (Tommy, Wanda, Sansa, Soldier), Anyone coming over to visit them!
WHERE: Twin Roses, network, any other ship if needed, where ever everyone else is,
WHAT: Space flying, whatever everyone wants to do, have fun
WHEN: During the space event and going off planet!
WARNINGS: No warnings so far...



Cloud made sure to nab someone that had the pilot datapoint to chart their ship to where they needed to go. He felt a little guilty in switching datapoints but the security one might be more useful. They didn't know what they could be heading towards and fighting might have to happen. He could protect the people on the ship. For now he's wandering around the ship trying to get used to being in space. It's different and he's not sure how he overall feels about it just yet. He knew that Cid would be losing his mind about even being in space. Cloud kept quiet as he glances out a window into the view of space. The reality of the feeling seemed weird. Maybe it would sink in a bit more as he stood there.

Cloud could be doing something on the ship, a chore, anything. But instead he's being quiet, mostly observing, looking around in spots of the ship that maybe he shouldn't be venturing into. Do you need him for something?

He might be in the recreation room using the treadmill early thinking that no one is around. Cloud will get off and start doing squats as part of a routine exercise. Doesn't matter who joins him here people of the crew or even visitors can sneak up on him.

The dining area is the last place he'll before turning in during the evening hours.

Stop having faith in him. Tommy hates it. Steve doesn’t even know anything about all of this.

“I blew up my school.”

There. That should get this sanctimonious asshole off his back.

Why the fuck does everyone ask that? Tommy glowers at the other. How dare he?

“Sure as fuck went to jail for it. Super juvie is fun. They try and turn you into a weapon for assassinations.”

"I didn't ask if you were convicted for it. I asked why you did it. And if you meant to."

Geez, the guy wasn’t ever going to understand.

“Because I make explosions. It’s what I do. Fast, and manipulating molecular structures.”

Still not an answer, right?

"That is what you can do. And what your powers allow you to do. That's not all you do. Really, I would say it's what your powers do to you until you're able to actually control it."

Steve wants to know the facts of this event and he's not going to stop until he does.

"Were you able to control it, then? Did you intentionally blow up that school?"

Dammit he’s so fucking annoying. Tommy glares, and he wishes there was a point to swinging at the man. But Steve could actually take it.

“What the actual fuck is wrong with you?” Tommy snaps, hands fisting at his side. “Someone tells you they blow up a building and injure people and kill a guy and you care why? Why doesn’t fucking matter!”

Fucking asshole.

"Why is the only thing that matters!"

Steve gives Tommy the space he needs, clearly, but doesn't back off.

"There is a difference between an abused boy with no support losing control in an accident and someone calculating an attack in order to murder people.

"You talked about your soul? Your soul is the why. Actions alone mean nothing in a vacuum. They tell you nothing. Who you are and what you want to be is all in the why."

Why do people do this? Why do they talk to him? Tommy wants to run. There is nowhere to run here.

“You... missed the memory. In the calibrations room. It was chem class. It... I didn’t know I could do it.”

It had actually been an accident. The powers triggering in the worst place and time.

Steve suspected. He doesn't say anything at first. Just nods and lets Tommy have a second. His voice is soft and conciliatory when it comes.

"Would you have done it, if you had known?"

Would he have done it? Tommy looks down at his hands.

“I killed a kid that day. No. I wouldn’t have done that.”

Steve takes the steps forward he didn't take before and rests his hands on Tommy's shoulders, light as he can.

"Then why are you blaming yourself for it? It wasn't your fault, Tommy. If you could have controlled yourself, you wouldn't have done it at all. It's not your fault you weren't given what you needed to understand what was happening to you. It's not your fault that you were handed to people who abused you. And I don't give a damn where your soul is from. When it got to you, it became yours. And you're doing great things with it."

Tommy laughs bitterly and backs away from that touch. He won’t accept that touch.

“You don’t know me Cap. Maybe that is who I was, but I’m more like Bucky.”

A weapon. One that holds himself back. Because he’s been told that he would lose everything if he did. The only reason more aren’t dead at his hands was because of his team.

"Used? Abused? Turned into a weapon and struggling to come back and to own his own body once more? His own destiny? Yeah, I would say there are some common threads, there."

He drops his hands but doesn't move back. He wants Tommy to know he isn't scared. Will never be scared of him.

He trusts him.

That’s stupid. So fucking stupid. He should be afraid.

“You... I could probably kill you. You should be afraid of me.”

"You probably could." He doesn't doubt it. The explosion sounds dangerous and Steve isn't sure if he would walk away from it. "But I know you won't. I know you would never kill someone if you had a choice.

"I trust you, Tommy."

“When they broke me out, I tried to kill my jailors.”

So clearly Steve is wrong.

“You do know I’m fucking Ultron’s grandson, right?”

"I don't know that I would have blamed you. And you do realize that I have killed many, many people, right? I was in a war. I knew what I was doing when I threw grenades and shot guns."

Steve is not wrong and he will underline that as much as possible.

"And why does it matter who your grandfather is? Good people come from awful lineage and bad people can do the same from good. You're not your ancestors."

Because he is from two lineages of genocidal maniacs. Not that the man seems to eat it.

“Why the fuck do you even care? I’m not your fucking business, Steve. I’m not even OUR Cap’s business.”

"Because I care about you. I saw how you were treated and it was wrong. You deserve to have someone tell you that." Steve exhales slowly, disappointed with himself. "I should have come right after Calibrations and I didn't. I'm sorry. But what I saw and what happened to you wasn't your fault. You're a good person, Tommy."

He reaches for Tommy's hand instead of shoulder this time.

"You're a good person and I am sorry you were convinced differently."

This time Tommy snatches his hand away well before Cap can touch it.

“Don’t. Don’t you fucking dare. You don’t... you don’t know me,” Tommy insists, backing up a step. “People are only good until those around them decide differently. And you’ll decide differently.”

"If I don't know you then I want to, Tommy. I am not going anywhere and I am not going to decide differently."

It hurts Steve to see Tommy so in pain. He has no idea what to do about except reassure. He wishes he had the right words to make things better.

"You're a good person and I am proud of all you've done and all you've survived against. You're strong. Stronger than you should have needed to be.

"I haven't seen or heard of a single thing that makes me think you're bad."

“Then you don’t know me at all, I guess.”

But he does. Already Steve has the true measure of him. And Tommy HATES it. He hates being so easily known by a man like this. Hates being recognized for who he is. A good person who had a lot of bad things happen to him.

“I’m what the world made me into, Rogers.”

"Don't give the world that power over you."

Steve is patient and just stands there, waiting for the temper to go through its progression. It isn't like he blames Tommy at all.

"You're more than what other people want you to be, Tommy. You're more than what they tried to turn you into."

“Oh yeah? Sure seems like you’re trying to make me what you want,” Tommy dismissed, a touch of annoyance in his voice. Don’t be stupid Steve.

But he knows he is more than what that place made him. He was an Avenger.
