out_of_order: (sometimes I'm not being chased)

[It's not often he shows himself on the network, and of open addresses such as this he's made none since his arrival. But here Cal is, looking to be in relatively good spirits.]

Jon, looks like the Agrii were on the same page as us.

[He shifts the camera towards a pile on the floor of the building he's in. A pile of parts. For a Replicator, if any of the external pieces are anything to judge by.

Beside them, his droid BD-1 beeps and circles it, one of his lenses flickering to life with blue light that plays over the pieces here and there.

Cal speaks off from the side before eventually flipping his communication device back towards himself.
]

So, everyone? Looks like we got ourselves a Replicator, like the ones we had access to on Risa. Kind of a do-it-yourself job, but BeeDee's checking to see if everything's here. He did some preemptive scanning of the functioning ones, so hopefully that should help us figure out how to piece one together.

[Whether it works or not from there is another thing, but Cal's at least hopeful.]

Anyone up for a side project?

[ Now that’s a pleasant surprise. And this Archivist also looks equally surprised as, well. Pleased? Is that an expression he is familiar with?

Well. Maybe it’s rather a bit of cautious hopefulness. They could use one of these after all. ]

Unexpected, but I won’t complain.

Do you think you can put it together?

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-02 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately I can’t claim to be of much help with this. Though I recall talking to a few people that might be able to assist.

Where did you find this anyway?
beholding_archivist: (Trying hard to ignore this mess)

[personal profile] beholding_archivist 2020-04-02 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't remember having been anywhere with a... Box.

[ And he doesn't really forget stuff these days. Instead he gets random knowledge dumped into his head. If you ever want to hear the fascinating history of horseshoe pitching, he's your guy. ]

Well. If it's gone anyway, I assume we will have to wait and see how this replicator ends up working. I can bring by some tea later if you like.

[ Is he adopting Martin's antics now or simply trying to feel a little less useless? Maybe one is just leading to the other... At least he's not actively aware of it now. ]
beholding_archivist: Do not take. Thanks. (Smug little Archivist)

Then I will be leaving you to your work for now.

And good luck.

I don't mind helping out, should you need a hand with it.

[He's already starting to get frustrated with his surroundings, and could need a distraction. Some of that frustration is probably visible in his expression.

So a project would be nice.

Glad to be able to lend a hand. I'm pretty decent with tech.

[Understatement. He is very good with tech, in fact.

He's always liked tasks that require a lot of focus.
]

When were you planning to start working on it?

[personal profile] stabgremlin 2020-04-02 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I'd forgotten that I told you about that.

[With everything else, and his brain damage on top of it all.

Is he slipping?

He's totally slipping. He should do something about that.
] Guess I'll start heading your way, then.

I can assist if you need it.

Do you wish me to stop by now or later?

[personal profile] tiedonastring 2020-04-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. I'm working on a particular piece right now, so once I get to a comfortable stopping point, I'll stop by. Where you are located?

It'll certainly be more reliable than the box. Which is to say, our dear overlords did something intelligent for once.

[He can admit that much.]

Have you gotten enough volunteers to put it together?
kallig: (Having some doubts)

[personal profile] kallig 2020-04-12 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
It definitely was.

[Altair had some good luck with it- but some very bad luck, too.]

You could luck out, of course. But it's good that we have something more reliable now.

[Some more control in their hands rather than in the hands of the Agrii.]

I'd offer to help, but I don't know much about machinery at all- beyond knowing things about the medical machinery found in the hospital here, thanks to the data point. At home though there was never much need for me to learn. Guess I lucked out in finding someone to take care of my ship.

[Still, it is a skill he lacks. Maybe he should take the time to learn a thing or two. Just in case.

And just mentioning home makes him miss his people a little.

Hopefully everyone collected enough supplies to bring back from Risa to last until then.

[He knows he brought back a lot. Not just for his personal use, but for the hospital as well.]

If it's you and others who're working on it, I'm sure you'll manage. It's unfortunate that in this case I'm of no use- other than to boost morale, though I doubt that's necessary.

[He's joking.]
