[Video Post] Back on Agra Vacation Time Over.
[Hux is sitting in front of a table back at the Power Plant. He's tinkering with various wires and droid part with the attempt of building a new droid. He wasn't heavily focused on the project. It was more to keep himself occupied as he tried to sort out what he wanted to say. He did think about blocking the post from a couple of people, but at this point he didn't care. Eventually people would learn and it was better to hear it from the exact source. When he does speak he doesn't look at the camera and he talks in a soft and hesitant tone.]
How does one redefine their person? Even while among Drift Fleet and here for a time being --I had always clung to my title as General. I also always knew that I was the face of the First Order. It was something I knew I had to return to when I was home.
As much as it pains me to admit....I no longer have the title or any title for that matter. It's just....Hux. The military and First Order had been the only life I had known. I had been taken from my mother to serve the First Order's needs as my father helped form it. Only to learn the ultimate plans later and what First Order's real plans were... In everything we had worked hard for and did...in the end we were just a simple pawn in the grand scheme of things. Even a military can be expendable.
I at least have my engineering skills to use and find some purpose. But that feels very trivial in light of how my life had been. I'm aware that others are probably struggling with the same thing to varying degrees. It's a hard thing to adjust to. I wouldn't mind hearing what you have chosen to do.

Greetings, Mister Hux. I'm Jonathan Sims. I may not be familiar with the military group you speak of or have experience with even being in the military myself, but I want to believe that I have a semblance of experience if it comes to... Well. Rather drastic changes in a person's life.
In that regard I want to point out that you are doing well with having taken the first step of moving on and finding a new purpose for yourself. For some, that turns out to be the hardest part. Change... Can be difficult.
[ There's a short pause here. ]
If you ask how I myself have been dealing with being here... Well. I was a researcher before becoming The Archivist and I feel like I am drifting back into research here. Studying the Agrii as best as possible under our current circumstances. Though I can't say I terribly mind that we have finally left Risa. It was a useful stay, yes. But if I want to study what they left behind, I can rather do that here.

When I first arrived here, I made it a point to get the Power Plant up and running. I've been working on other projects once we got the plant working. I suppose that I am just used to having a bigger goal to work toward.
voice
[ For which he still can't really see himself to be much help. ]
May I ask about those other projects?
voice
voice
[ Maybe not his field, but. ]
I suppose that could be useful as well, yes. Though....
[ Aaaaand here he's a little reluctant to ask. ]
Do you believe it will be terribly likely that we are going to... Actually fly with those ships?

[Gets destroyed.]
...changes.
Titles aren't much, but everything that comes with them, those still stay with you. If you can repurpose yourself, find new uses for the skills you have, then I think it makes it easier. Everything else will fall into place.
[Video]
How can we repurpose our self here when we don't even know our full purpose for being on Agra 10?
[Video]
You had to earn it. But even if you didn't, you'd have built up experience. I guess you can look at it like a matter of shifting focus. Focus was in what you were for your title, but without the context to hold its meaning, you have to learn to focus on what you can do because you worked for that role.
I'm not saying it's easy. I'm still working on it too. I think lots of people are. But if we try to look at things too broadly, it'll be easier to feel lost.
The Agrii believe we can help them. I don't know how possible that is, and it's hard to believe when they're not even around. But we're not the only ones here, so we can help each other, and in doing that, it'll help with restoring this place a little. And maybe the Agrii will learn to open up more to us.
[Video]
[He takes a deep breath in an attempt to curve his building anger at the whole situation.]
I had everything taken away from me at home. [Including his life...but Hux didn't say that out loud.] How do they expect me to be capable of doing what they want?
[Video]
[Cal falls silent, listening. He hears you, Hux. He really does.]
...I know how that is. Everything I knew was taken away from me too. ...only recently I started to find my footing again, but my last experience before I was brought here...
[He shakes his head.]
I think I'm just using being here as a distraction from it. From what happened. If I think about it too much it'd be too easy to see things here as being just as lost as ever.
[Video]
Instead of being a pawn in one game...I'm now a pawn in another game.
I helped get the Power Plant up an running. I'm trying to make adjustments so it can run better along with other projects that people have requested. It's just feels so trivial to what I am used to working with.

[Come find him in the power plant.]

The flaw in your thinking is that your position in that military to be what defines you. Military leadership is a journey, not a destination. If your skills are best suited to military leadership, it is possible that you may need to find another. On Agra-10 there is the possibility of finding another world entirely which was not available to you before.

I had heard that you were here....it's an honor to finally meet your acquaintance, sir.
I'll admit it's a hard transition to do. I had known nothing outside of a military life style since I was a child. My first interaction outside of it had been with Drift Fleet. But even with Drift Fleet it still had a military atmosphere to it which helped. Agra 10 has nothing in the ways of the military save the ships.
How have you been able to adjust to such a change?

I will admit that I have had difficulty adjusting. However, this is not the first time I have been separated from what I have known.
[ It helped him to think of Agra-10 as an exile planet. ]
My experience will still differ from yours so I would suggest that you be patient. Military leadership requires a certain skill set; awareness of the strengths and weaknesses for your army but also a micro-understanding of each soldier within that army. Proper management of your resources and large scale transport when needed. But before all of this, you will need to answer a single question.
Why? Military leadership takes determination to achieve and there are most often setbacks, so why? What is it you wished to accomplish as you advanced through the ranks?

I was an illegitimate child that my father saw weak and useless, but was forced to deal with because the Empire had needed children. I had wanted to prove to him and to his cronies that someone so ill thought of could climb up the ranks.
I suppose in the end it was selfish to a degree.

[The question isn't really directed at Hux, it's more to himself than anything else. Doesn't really matter, he supposes.]
Identity is difficult. Can't really look at anyone else's homework and fake it, you know?
[Or you could, but that would serve a purpose- it wouldn't be real. Wouldn't be you.] Imagine I'll struggle finding myself too.
Can't think of anything to say that might help you on your quest, though if you get some good suggestions, mind sharing with the class? [Might as well ask.]
Voice;
If I find something that works...I'll be sure to share.
Voice;
[He will appreciate it. He needs to find someone other than the agent he's been trained to be. At home he can manage.
Here?
He isn't sure.] And no- no- I... I mean, I build droids myself. Bit of an enthusiast, I suppose. Depending on the droid. Prefer to do the programming, really. Nothing prettier than a good line of code- except maybe my boyfriend.
[His boyfriend's definitely prettier than any line of code.] Guess I should feel lucky that I have my datapad with me...
Voice;
So you basically enjoy the coding aspect of things?[He noted the comment on the boyfriend but refrained from commenting on it. He didn't know the other too well to feel comfortable discussing such things.]
I miss the one I had at home. This one is pretty basic.
Voice;
[Place like this, not big on tech.
Not any more, at any rate.] I do, yes. Don't mind putting a droid together, but the coding's... More complicated. I like complicated. Engages the brain more.
