Who: Hux and You
What: Exploring
When: The first few days of arrival
Where: Power Plant/Exploration up till the Power Plant
Warnings: None at the moment will update if necessary

Upon arriving at the strange world, Hux wasted little time at the hotel, or at least the building claiming to be a hotel. Everything around him appeared to be rundown and not been in use for a long time. It felt like the particular hotel was being used for the first time in ages.

He had a lot of questions, but there was no host to ask them to. Everyone around him appeared to be just as confused. The last few things Hux remembered were his times aboard the S.S.Bishop. It didn't feel right either. This wasn't a simple drift he was accustomed to of late. He felt on edge and restless.

Hux decided to set out and explore wanting to gain a better understanding of what had happened. Maybe he would see a familiar face or learn of what happened to his cat Millicent. And if the ships were still around.

Eventually his wanderings found himself in front of a stone gate with a sign with a bunch of markings he couldn't understand. He found what appeared to be a pathway, but that itself took time. It was only through sheer stubbornness that Hux managed to find a bunch of buildings. Hux had been hesitant on taking some of the plants with him as samples to study later, but not knowing what they were and having the right equipment he refrained.

It took a couple of days of exploring for Hux to gain an understanding the purpose of the building and what needed to work....which was pretty much everything. The humming sound of what appeared to be crystal rods gave him a lot of hope. This seemed to be a possible power source. Yet, Hux didn't understand how it worked. In another building he came across a small floating orb. Curious, Hux reached with his gloved hand to touch it. He seemed to gain an understanding of how things worked and what was expected. Was this like the augment he had back with the Fleet? It felt like it. He smiled, pleased with the knowledge he gained and began to set to work on what could be done to get everything in working order. He knew if he could get this plant to operate it could get the rest of the area back up and running.

It was during one of those first few days that Rayla spotted this red-headed human wandering around the strange building. She hadn't touched the floating orb, nervous to do so, quite honestly, and kept watch of him from the trees for a while. She followed him, silently, almost like stalking her prey, before finally deciding that he might not be one of those "horrible" humans, but maybe a "not so horrible" one.

So, waiting for the right moment, she finally revealed herself to him by dropping down from the tree next to him.

"So... whaddya say this place is?"

Surprise elf!

Oops. She didn't immediately notice his reaction, so good for him. She did tilt her head a little as she listened.

"How can a building provide energy?" She knew what energy was, but the term 'power plant' conjured a whole different image in her head than what he likely meant. Simple terms were okay, but she came from a world that was at the level of medieval humanity. She wasn't going to understand technology without touching that orb.
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Oh...?!)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-08-30 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The glow and humming noise was honestly enough to get the point across for now. Rayla just chalked it up to magic, quite honestly, even if that wasn't entirely true.

"Oh. That's actually pretty handy. And the energy it houses, that can make things in the city work again, yeah?"
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Yaaaayyy.............)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-08-31 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Rayla looked over at the orb.

"That thing over there gives the knowledge, right?" She considered that, but... nope. This wasn't her thing. She'd honestly rather do something else. "Maybe ya could get a crew together and have them all touch it."
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Listening)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-09 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Really? I've seen a few people further back in town 'round that hotel. Found a few out an' explorin', too, in the woods."

She shrugged at the question. "I'm not really sure, yet. I guess I could learn what the creatures are like 'round here an' hunt for food for people. I'm more of a fighter than anythin' else."
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Amused Smirk)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-09 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I can probably make somethin'," she said, thoughtful. "I hafta say, it was a little annoyin' showin' up here without mah normal weapons."
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Rayla Is Not Impressed)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-12 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"I've been trained to," Rayla explained. "It's part of being good at what I do."

She watched him.

"So, didja learn anythin' useful?"
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Listening to Callum)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-20 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Rayla nodded.

"Well, it does look pretty broken down, so I can see it'll be a lot o' work." She looked it over, and then glanced at the surrounding area as well. "Ya know... ya might be needin' more than just people to fix this place. Ya might need a few people to make sure nothin' comes outta them woods to attack."
tingmoonshadowpowers: (I Think We've Been Caught)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-24 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Rayla looked shocked for a second.

"Me? In charge?" Woah... "I-I... Um. I was just suggestin' the idea..." She didn't have that kind of experience! She was still new to the whole idea of being a professional fighter anyway. But to lead a security force?
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Oh Ha Ha Riiiiight)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-09-25 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Rayla smiled a bit weakly.

"I've already done the big mistakes thing. I'd rather not repeat it."

Pushing herself to hard to come on such an important mission as the assassination of the Katolis ruling family, only to fail at killing the human guard who spotted them and ruining the element of surprise... yeah. She'd made big mistakes by attempting something she wasn't ready for already.
tingmoonshadowpowers: (Sad Face)

[personal profile] tingmoonshadowpowers 2019-10-03 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
That was appreciated. She nodded a little.

"I can certainly ask around an' see what others think," she said. "Looks like we're all gonna hafta work together."

Delta had also found himself drawn to the power plant fairly quickly. Like anyone transplanted from a high-tech environment, there are things he misses greatly about this place. Running water is pretty high on the list, but so is having a way to digitally record and store data, and a network to stay in contact with the other kidnapees.

So he's poking at one of the screens farther into the complex and muttering to himself, using a crystal to have turned the thing on and now trying to determine the logic of the operating system. He seems pretty caught up in his work, but when he hears a noise he turns around quickly. He's a pretty tall, lanky human with braided hair, and an observant person will catch the metallic glint of some kind of ports along his neck when his hair swishes out of the way.

"Ah, good evening. Are you here to restore the function of this building as well?"
alaspooryork: (unarmored: needs a haircut)

[personal profile] alaspooryork 2019-09-05 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Part of the problem, Delta would posit, is that there simply aren't very many of them. Having recently come from a very crowded city, it's a bit odd - but not unlike the semi-abandoned colonies he'd explored back in his own timeline, once upon a time.

"Excellent. Have you downloaded the information from the data point?" Because that's an obvious place to start, if he's really interested in getting things running. "These crystals appear to be a power source; the plant seems designed in part to recharge them. I am not sure what sort of fuel it consumes, however; we can hope for something renewable."

[personal profile] alaspooryork 2019-09-11 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Delta frowns and clicks a few buttons, advancing the text on the screen a bit. It's no font he's familiar with, but certain words or concepts jump out at him thanks to the data point.

"And what they power, aside from the machinery in this building. I think there are other locations...."

He trails off for a few seconds, distracted, then shakes his head and looks away from the screen to focus on the other person. "My apologies. I had thought to take inventory of how many crystals we have, determine a means of recharging them, and then noting all locations in the portions of the city we have access to that may be powered by them. Did you have a similar thought?"
alaspooryork: (unarmored: maybe it's maybelline)

[personal profile] alaspooryork 2019-09-23 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"Agreed." Unless this society was a lot less logical than its buildings would suggest. One can never tell with alien races.

Delta shakes his head as if to clear it. "There was a broken lift in the tall building near the fountain, and a slot that may match these crystals. I would want it to be fully powered before reactivating the lift, however, as I do not desire to become stuck in an elevator shaft."
alaspooryork: (unarmored: skinny bastard)

[personal profile] alaspooryork 2019-09-29 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Delta chews on his lip for a moment. Hospitals and medical facilities have not had the greatest history with him, but it would be good for everyone to have them available in case of injury. "To my knowledge there have been supplies found, but none of the complex equipment is in working order. Restoring the power should help that as well, although I do not know to what extent the associated data point will confer knowledge of the their use, or if any are calibrated in such a way that will be useful to us."

Who knows what Agri physiology is like, anyway?

Delta nods, glancing back at the screen he's been working with.

"I encountered a young man who called himself Billy," he says, "and have seen others around who seemed too engrossed in their own business to warrant conversation. I believe we will have enough resources to resolve this problem."

It's kind of refreshing to have something like this to work on, actually, rather than desperately fighting against an overbearing corporate interest.

One day when Hux is looking around a possible familiar face will be seen poking around. Vash had been on the fleet for the entire cycle so even though they didn't talk much Hux might not be surprised by the way Vash's hair stands up like a broom.

Vash is currently hovering a gloved hand over those crystal robs. Looking deep and lost in thought he doesn't notice Hux right away.
goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (What do you mean I don't look innocent?)

Sorry for the delay! Was waiting for an answer to a question!

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2019-09-14 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh!" Vash smiles shyly at having been caught. "DO you know much about this power plant? I was hoping maybe I could help out a bit."
goldenglasses: (Why'd I have to get the hicky there?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2019-09-17 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
The corner of Vash's mouth twitches slightly in discomfort. Even after nearly five years in the fleet being more open about what he was, an Independent Plant, it was still really uncomfortable for him to be honest. "Back home my sisters we, ah, we can power things. They're a bit different from myself, but I was wondering if maybe I could do something similar. Not long term of course. I don't have any interest in being a permanent living battery. Just something to maybe hold us over if I can."

He shakes his head slowly. "Then again I'm not sure that's smart. I could hurt myself or overload the system, but on the other hand if I don't try then we'll never know."

"Safe sounds great to me." Vash glances at the rods again before moving his hand away to stuff into the pockets of his big red coat. "I guess today I was just seeing if maybe they felt familiar. During my time on the fleet we came across a poisoned moon and they had some terraforming equipment that looked a lot like what my sisters would-" be kept in "-use at home. But these?" He shakes his head. "I don't sense anything familiar about this place. No starting point to jump off from I'm afraid."
goldenglasses: (You really think so?)

[personal profile] goldenglasses 2019-09-27 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Vash watches Hux take a rod, but he doesn't do the same. Worried about the temptation will come back to test what the rods could do if touched with his powers. He's not so sure that's a good idea and thinks avoiding that temptation for now to be best. "I'm alright now using my powers for now. I have to admit, I'm not the best at it." He laughs without any real humor to it. "I'm actually probably the worst at it out of all of my family."

HIS FRIEND!

[personal profile] brooklyn_boy 2019-09-22 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Hux isn't the only curious one. Millie, it turns out, has been nothing but a pest for the last few days as she keeps trying to get free of their room and set off exploring. Finally, one day, she succeeds and Steve spends the greater part of the long morning chasing after her.

Captain America trying to catch a cat. Someone get the news.

He follows her as she races into the power plant and loses her for a terrifying second as he tries to get his bearings. It's a sound, like someone working, that has him moving once more. Moving, it turns out, towards an old friend. One who now has a happy looking cat butting a head against his leg. Steve stops, stunned. It couldn't be. But....

"Hux?"
brooklyn_boy: (smile)

[personal profile] brooklyn_boy 2019-09-23 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
As though Millie's reaction wasn't clear enough, Hux knowing his name is all he needs to hear before Steve is rushing forward and pulling the man in for a fast hug. He can't help it, really; Hux has been gone for far longer than the year after Drift Fleet ended. Steve missed the guy.

"Ha! I have no idea," he says while looking no less pleased. "But it's good to see you."

Steve pulls back and just squeezes Hux's shoulders as he looks him over head to toe. Millie is still there and Steve's smile turns a little sad knowing his friend finally has her owner once more.

"When you left, Millie stayed with me. It's been awhile since then. Have you already heard what happened in the Fleet?"
brooklyn_boy: (Default)

[personal profile] brooklyn_boy 2019-09-29 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve smiles at that and down at Millie. "That would be great. She did grow on me, after all. I would love to have her around a little more but I know she was yours first so don't worry. As long as I can see her I'm good."

Steve's smile wanes after hearing that Hux knew nothing of the Fleet. "The Atroma were defeated," he says simply. "We were all given the choice to go home or to stay. People made their decisions. I personally stayed." Even though the reason he'd stayed had been ruined by the Agrii for almost a full year.

"But either way, the Agrii brought us here so I guess it didn't matter what we picked."
