The Beach, The Birbs, and the Berries | OTA

The Beach

Sephiroth is not discovered by the Agrii, having curled up to sleep in a strange location, burrowed in wings. But he does wake up hearing all the activity from the beach and goes to investigate. He watches for a while from a distance, just to see what’s happening and if everything seems alright.

If you notice him, will you try to get him to join in the activities? Or will you decide it’s just as well to keep his dignity intact and not try to get him to wear any of the wacky swimwear? (Does he ever put on swimwear in general?)

The Birbs

Of course something eventually goes wrong. Sephiroth sees the birbs starting to grab things, trying to grab people, and generally being a nuisance. While it’s not quite the disaster he expected, he’s not surprised there’s a disaster.

He flies over by the nearest person. “This could go on for hours. We should leave.”

The Berries

Sephiroth studies his basket with thoughtfulness. It’s very nicely made. But he’s wary of the berries after hearing Radley’s tales of the weird effects other Agrii foods have caused. He decides to go out and see if anyone else was less wary and what resulted.

And of course there are some. He just has to stop and stare for a moment as a glowing Knuckles throws his arms wide and dances through Temba singing about Hollywood paved with streets of gold and kitties never growing old. Probably a song he heard on Earth with Chris.

One wing flicks. Yes, he is not going to eat any of the berries.

He will probably encounter others who have, though. Feel free to break Sephiroth’s brain with your weirdness!

“Heh. Well, we’ll have to be careful in case it happens again,” Sephiroth said.

[tempredmental]

"Agreed," Keith said with a small chuckle.

[3wingedangel]

“I wonder if the safest thing is not to eat anything brought by the Agrii, in case it has such effects,” Sephiroth mused. “Although I suppose it wouldn’t always be practical to refuse everything.”

[tempredmental]

"No... it wouldn't," Keith said. "Especially if we have a bad growing season with the crops."

[3wingedangel]

“Then we’ll just have to hope that the majority of their food is relatively normal,” Sephiroth said. “Even if ‘relatively normal’ means everything tastes like peanut butter.”

[tempredmental]

"Yeah," he said. "I mean, not that it's terrible, but it's definitely getting to be a bit much after this long." Keith figured that even Pidge would get tired of it, and she really like peanut butter.

“Perhaps we should try to interest the Agrii in other flavors,” Sephiroth said.

[tempredmental]

"Well, there's that," Keith agreed, "but also, the flavor was apparently coming from the stuff that was getting added to their food in order to make them less violent."

[3wingedangel]

Sephiroth sighed. That certainly complicated things. His comment had mostly been sarcastic.

"I wonder if the foods that have such strange effects on us also have some more serious effects on the Agrii, instead of the same ones as on us," he mused. "It would be good to know."

Which brought them back to the idea of trying to test it.

[tempredmental]

"Yeah... it would." Keith looked thoughtful, remembering how Tae had used the lemonade on the stabby boys. "Could definitely come in handy if needed..." He wasn't a huge fan, but desperate times could call for desperate measures.

He nodded. "The first step is procuring some samples of the food. We can work on that and then go from there."

[tempredmental]

"Well..." Keith nodded his head towards the food tables, "there are plenty of samples for the taking right now." He quirked an eyebrow.

[3wingedangel]

“None of that looks like what was causing problems before, but it wouldn’t hurt to make sure,” Sephiroth replied. “Has anyone eaten yet?”

[tempredmental]

Keith shook his head. "I don't know. I haven't."

[3wingedangel]

"Well, then shall we quietly abscond with a few samples?" Sephiroth smirked a bit.

[tempredmental]

"Heh." Keith smirked a bit in response. "Might as well. We have to get our supplies from somewhere, right?" He turned and started heading towards the food. No rush or anything. Just casually walking over like he wanted to see what the selection was.

Sephiroth did the same, carefully loading a plate with a few things that looked good to test. Hopefully no Agrii would come over and try to get him into the swimwear.

Oh, come on, Seph... look at those crazy patterns. The Agrii are so excited, and they immediately notice the pair's approach. They went after Sephiroth first as he wasn't even in beachwear, yet. Keith looked amused at Sephiroth's expense.

Sephiroth is gracious, but makes up that he has some of his own he can go get. He just came to see what was happening and was drawn to the food. As a compromise until he goes back for his swimwear, he will remove his coat and gloves.

He sets the plate down and calmly removes his coat. He has no shame or awkwardness about that and rather seems to like that it gives a better view of his wings. He takes off his gloves and places them in his coat pocket.

Keith just smirked. He managed to dodge most of it because he was already in beach attire, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been... though some did want him to change into something similar to what they had.

But, they each had a plate of food now.

"So, how do we get them to try it?"

Sephiroth smiled at the Agrii. “Won’t you join us?” He held out the plate for them to sample from.

[tempredmental]

Keith also offered some to passing Agrii. There were a few that resisted, saying that it was for the He Rows, and that they couldn't just take food meant for their honored guests, words like that in their broken form of non-Agrii speech. Keith raised an eyebrow at Sephiroth over their reactions.

"You sure? We don't mind sharing," Keith said. "You guys have been great hosts..."

Sephiroth was on guard as well. They might be as innocent as they claimed, but were they? And if not, why would they deliberately want to have the “He Rows” eat food they knew had weird effects?

“Indeed,” he said. “We would be remiss not to offer to share.”

[tempredmental]

They were pretty insistent, though, saying that the food was a gift and it was already given, so they wouldn't take from it.

After a while, Keith huffed.

"Well, that's not going to work."

Sephiroth merely nodded to the Agrii and ceased trying. He waited until they moved on before speaking again.

"Perhaps if we make food for them and slip the berries in as an ingredient?"
