[Sephiroth still isn't sure what's going on, but he's gathered she doesn't want to say over the network.]

I believe so. Are you at the hospital?

My life is this hospital, so yes, my dear, I'm here.

Very well. I will be there shortly.

[And soon he arrives, coming through the hospital doors.]

[And Tae stands there, hands in the pockets of her lab coat. Someone sharp enough might notice she's braced herself a little, that her hands may be wrapped around something in her pockets. Yet when she sees him she visibly relaxes and pulls her hands free.]

Would you perhaps join me in my office.

Sephiroth definitely notices. "Of course," he says with a nod, and moves to accompany her there.

Tae nods and heads away and when he enters the room with her, she closes the door. Then, after a moment of thought, locks it.

She still seems tense, but there's little more she can do. Or perhaps... She takes out her device and raises a finger to him to keep him silent. Then she moves around her office turning on every noisy thing she can think of. This gets recorded with an audio program on her communication device and she turns things off. Finally the device is put down near her locked door with the recording on a loop and the volume turned up.

Only then does she lead him as far from the noise as possible.

"Forgive me if this seems paranoid. I wished to speak with you regarding the attacks. Someone mentioned you might be willing to assist us."

Sephiroth watches her actions with interest, quickly deducing what she's doing even though he's not sure why until she speaks.

"After how long the madness has gone on, I doubt anything is paranoid," he remarks. "Yes, I am very interested in bringing this to a halt before there are any more victims. What do you have in mind?"

"We need to catch those boys and force a confession. Beyond that I'm not certain. I only recently came about to believing their guilt recently myself."

She sighs and leans against the cabinets she's put them near. She's so tired but she's been working on this a lot.

"Back home others would handle this. I'm only a doctor, and not the right kind. But the evidence I have seen seems damning. One of them tried to get the Agrii to shoot Donnie."

"I've believed it for a long time," Sephiroth says. "Donnie told me about the shooting incident. I've been trying to keep a closer eye on them since then, but they aren't always easy to track down. Now one of them has been missing."

And that worries him. Is it just one of the usual disappearances around here, or is it part of some new plot? There are others missing too. Will they find another victim lying in the woods or somewhere else isolated? That is his deepest concern.

Tae sighs. Yes, that's worrying indeed. But for now she has to focus on what she can do in this very moment.

"I've gotten some more details from him. I think we can no longer hesitate to act. Especially with how separated people are."

Sephiroth frowns more at the news of more information. What other treachery have they done or tried to do? He will ask about that, but first ... "Do you have a plan for catching them?"

"Still working on it. I am trying to come up with a way to sedate them, to minimize harm. But it's not something I can do. I was hoping for input and help. I hear you helped with the issues when the plantkin arrived on the Agrii ship."

Sephiroth nods. "I'm afraid catching them may be unlikely under normal circumstances, considering everything that's been tried and has failed so far. It may be that the only way possible to get them to let their guard down enough to be caught is to let them think they have the upper hand by setting a trap. If we could set someone up as an appealing target to be the next victim, we could lie in wait and catch the boys in the act when they try to kill the person." He sighs. "The problem is, I don't like to put anyone in such a potentially dangerous position. And I highly doubt they would be foolish enough to try to kill me."

But if he thought he could get them to try it, he'd do it.

A trap, huh? That doesn't sound bad. But someone being bait scared her. What if they failed? What if someone got hurt?

"There have been so many people they have hurt. I can't imagine who we could reasonably ask to be in so precarious a situation."

"I know. I don't like to ask anyone either. That's why I've been working on my own and haven't said anything." He sighs. "The best option would be if we could get them to come after me. But I don't know if even they would be that foolish. I might be able to incense them enough that they might want to kill me. But would they actually try?"

Coming after him? Tae can't help but chuckle. No, that doesn't sound likely at all.

"I do not think that is a viable option. You look as dangerous as you are."

"Yes, I highly doubt they would actually try to get me ... unless it was another approach such as the fire instead of attacking me directly," Sephiroth says. "If we can't get them to come after someone capable of protecting themselves, our other option is simply taking them by force."

Which the superhero Billy would no doubt frown upon, maybe even after everything else that's happened since he raked everyone over the coals about the mess with Stu. But Sephiroth is fed up and tired of trying to play by the rules. He's always been one to bend or break them if the situation calls for it.

"Maybe we try and find a way to send them after someone durable who isn't as immediately obvious as such?"

Was there someone like that? But by force was her backup plan if she had to go that route.

Sephiroth mentally runs through everyone he knows of who's there. "Do you have someone in mind?"

Someone... She thinks, eyes closed.

"I may... need to talk to York."

"Do you think he will agree to be the target?" Sephiroth barely knows York.

Does she? Tae sighs, arms crossing over her chest.

"If memory serves, the man who was first attacked is important to him. He might."

Sephiroth nods. "That is a good motivator. We should speak with him as soon as possible."

Yes, they should. Tae sighs and then looks firmly at Sephiroth.

"If we do this, ask him to play bait, he needs protective backup. You can't fail him there. He's not human. I can't fix him if something goes wrong. He is, in his own way, more fragile than the rest of us."
