"This is ridiculous! No holidays should be interrupting me from my work," Tae grumbles as an Agrii shoves small boxes of gifts into her hands. A stack of them. One like a clothing box, one a bit bigger, and one rather small. And it's driving her up the wall."2. Problematic Patient | Closed to any He Row injured in any manner
"Gift," the Agrii says.
"I have patients I should be-"
"Gifts," the Agrii repeats.
Clearly there is no argument to be made to such underlings like this. She sighs and shakes her head.
"Fine, but then can I-"
"Sky sparkle," the Agrii insisted.
Yep. Okay. Whatever. Tae sighs and moves over to join someone at a blanket on the not-quite-cold snow.
"Can you believe this? I have important work to be doing!"
There's so much to do, and no clue how much time. That much is clear from the haggard look on the Doctor's face. Because of course she feels exasperated. In addition to trying to introduce the Agrii to the concept of 'regular medical check-ups', she had the other class of patients she had to deal with.3. No Weapons In Medical!
"I really wish they hadn't done this mess when I have so many people to look over already."
Because of course she did. People getting hurt just before they got up here was just something she should have expected. In fact, in this particular moment she's eyeing one of them. And frowning. Arms all crossed over her chest as she tries to stay stern even if she might prefer to be gentle with some of the patients she sees a lot.
"So, pain levels," she says at last. "Let me know what we're working with here."
"No, absolutely not!"
Anyone entering the Medical Bay at the exact right moment was going to be treated to the sound of Tae's voice cracking whip sharp through the air. Anger, scorn, and no small measure of annoyance, dominated her voice. Which at first is probably all anyone will get of her as they enter, given the fact that an Agrii is standing just inside the door, maybe by only a pace or two, and seems frozen by that tone.
An Agrii with an orange token wrapped around their upper left arm. Mu Ly's faction. An Agrii with a long, sharp looking meat fork tucked into their belt as their nod toward being armed.
Which was, of course, what was setting Dr. Takemi off.
"I don't care who you align yourself with, I don't care what discussions are being had, I don't care who you are trying to emulate. There are no weapons in the Medical Bay!"
The Agrii must try to open their mouth because Tae's just barreling on immediately.
"I am also not particularly interested in hearing you explain what your behaviors have been like in the past. Hospitals and medical spaces are for healing, not harming. You are not welcome in here armed. Leave the weapon outside or just leave. Because I've got enough injuries here amid the physical exams that look like they come from deliberate cuts and jabs, and I'm not tolerating more wounds in here!"
Which of course finally leads to the Agrii backing up toward the door. Apparently the small woman was scaring them off.

Still, he might have a point about timing, as much as she hated to admit it.
"Seems like you've come across more evidence since I last heard about the investigation from your brother. I think you have good arguments and rationale. Without a proper forensics team it would not be easy to give conclusive proof, but you probably have enough to go on with a group this small."
So she would support his approach to this.
"Though I will say, I would think alien movies were a fitting question given we were, literally, abducted."
no subject
He blinks then, frowning. "No one would listen to us before, and the ones who did just got yelled at like we were." His gaze drops downwards as he winces, forcing his fingers to unclench from a fist. "...but maybe you're right. Maybe I haven't done enough, I've always been letting everyone else because I started getting too paranoid about my own judgment."
no subject
"It's not necessarily about you, Donnie," Tae says, her voice soft. "Many people here, they come from versions of our world. Mirrors of it. Thus they will have been raised in a legal system that believes in proof. Maybe they have traumas over how accusations are taken, how far they are willing to go. That doesn't make your quest for truth wrong."
She doesn't touch him to offer comfort. He's perhaps too old for that and is clearly still jumpy over contact. But she does nod to him in approval.
"You are very strong, you and your brother both, for pursuing this. Even if it got you hurt. I'm sorry I didn't have more faith earlier."
no subject
"But then that's because the bad guys knew they were doing things they weren't supposed to and not being that secretive about it. This is all...different." He frowns. "...maybe not all that different." Definitely not the first time he'd had the wool pulled over his eyes because someone hadn't been acting like one would expect of your standard media villains, but then that's part of the reason he hadn't felt he could trust himself about people, especially after his missing tablet incident.
no subject
Still, this is something to consider.
"Tell you what. Bring together everything you and your brother have figured out. I'll see if I can't put together some information from my study of all of the other victims, and maybe I'll see if Wesker can't help a bit too. He's good in a pinch. We'll see if we can't get people to act. I don't know how we'd handle the pair, but it's something to be considered. That everyone has to face fully."
no subject
Donnie nods. He doesn't have problems with Wesker potentially being involved, even though he can understand why Leo's uptight about him. But Wesker actually appreciated
and praisedhis tech."I'll try to compile it. There's other data I need to find..."
no subject
She's not sure she's good at that stuff, but if it is something in her wheelhouse... It's better than people coming to her with all of the injuries they are."
no subject
Donnie catches himself from scratching at an arm, mostly out of anxiousness than it being particularly itchy right then.
"...I don't suppose you can help me secure another tablet to use? Mine is still missing... And the one I have still uses that signal to do anything, and I don't particularly feel like sending messages and things that might get intercepted or altered in between." That's one of the reasons why he's been sparse off the network these past months.
no subject
"A tablet? Oh dear, no. Mine has confidential medical records. But maybe I can ask someone if you could borrow one? I could try Radley. We're friends and if I explained why, perhaps he could spare it for a time and help me here."
Which would render him reachable to others.
no subject
Borrowing someone else's tablet isn't exactly what he had in mind. Donnie shakes his head. "I don't want to put someone else out a tablet just because I let mine get taken," he says, not quite petulantly. "I thought maybe the other Agrii might have some spares since they're our suppliers. It's...fine, I'll just go through Leo or something."
no subject
"I lost mine one evening in the hospital and when I woke up the next day it was with me. That may imply a function."
no subject
"I...guess I can ask. Kind of forgot with everything else."
no subject
"You really should. If it's possibly being used for mischief, it should be with you instead."
no subject
no subject
Tae shakes her head. She doesn't like this at all.
"Perhaps..."
She tilts her head, thoughtful.
"A sedative. I could create an injection of some that should put the boys to sleep in a self defense situation. If you would like."
no subject
"But I guess a sedative would be useful to have on hand. Just in case."
no subject
Maybe that would be enough. But a sedative wasn't so hard to use after all. And if Donnie made a new battleshell he could secret it on that somewhere.
"I'll start working on something that has a sedative powerful enough to take out the mundane humans here. I won't be able to guarantee anything that works on people like the powered young men, or Jon of course."
Strange how she doesn't measure Wesker in that either. Like she doesn't know how beyond basic human he is. Or the turtles. Probably better not to use it on the turtle.s
no subject
He nods. "Well, hopefully we won't have to worry about the not-so-mundane. ...Jon though?" He tilts his head. The librarian guy?
no subject
She wasn't entirely certain what he was, but he was not a normal person.
no subject
He never had figured out the man himself, but then his interactions hadn't been very extensive, and so far as Donnie could tell, Jon hadn't seemed so different from other humans he's met. Plus he liked libraries so that was a plus.
no subject
"There are people that I've heard are scared of going to the library because it's his 'territory'."
Of course Tae takes scary people with a side of tea and crumpets in the morning, so she'd be fine.
no subject
Otherwise he's seen no reason to avoid Jon, and Tony had directed him to the bespectacled man before during those storm incidents, so surely he couldn't be all that bad!
no subject
"I don't understand it either. Jon is charming and handsome. Has quiet the librarian vibe. That's reason enough to visit."
no subject
"Are...we done here? I can come by later for the sedative stuff if it'll take time."
no subject
"Yes. I'll see about compounding the sedative from my supplies. Please be careful out there. I will worry if you come to see me again even more injured."
