Slide ~ Goo Goo Dolls
WHO: Billy Hargrove, Tommy Shepherd
WHERE: The Beach
WHAT: Celebrating a certain someone’s birthday
WHEN: Evening of Oct. 12th
WARNINGS: Boyfriends
It's taken awhile to get everything set up. The hammock posted up on the beach just out of reach of the high tide; the branches and wood of various thickness tented together at a safe distance from said hammock; a blanket with the edges tucked into the sand with a large tray covered by another cloth held down by rocks; candles he had asked Tommy for a month or so ago to use in the beach house. Billy stands back, observing that everything is in the perfect spot with hands on his hips.
Earlier in the month they had a rough start. A bad day for Tommy with bad words from Hargrove in his anger that was mirroring his boyfriend's. But there was something that stuck out to the blond, something that let him know that what he was doing was right.
'The only one that wanted me. The only one that ever celebrated my birthday!' Billy could do this now, could let his boyfriend feel so damn special on his day. No being overshadowed by accident with Kaplan. No joint birthday. Just Tommy.
And of course he's made sure he's looking good. A fresh shower, a good scrub on his cheeks to bring out the color, and yes, even a spritz of cologne (thank you Munson). He's got on his cleanest jeans and a tank top from his own birthday, but has decided against boots for now. He feels really good about this.
Really good about it. Billy thinks it's really gonna make his boyfriend happy and that just feels the blond with this Good Feeling he can't quite describe yet, even after all these months. He reaches down to check, again, that the little wrapped cloth is still there. It is. It won't go anywhere until he needs it to.
Ruffling his hair as a last distraction, Billy crouches to set a spark to the candle wicks, then moves away to text Tommy.
'Took care of dinner for you tonight. Meet me at the beach. Sunset. No is not an option.'

God, he wants to kiss his boyfriend’s face. Maybe he should in a bit.
"How about you tell me a couple and then we have some cake?"

One day when he's done using the images that gave him for his spank bank and allowing himself to actually let them have that. Billy lets his eyes wander down and then back up over his boyfriend. "You want that cake now that you've gotten your gifts, babe?"
no subject
"I do. And god, I'm going to be imagining eating it off that tight stomach of yours. See, this is why you can't be this sexy around me. My brain can't handle it."
no subject
Nope!
Billy sits up quick, and tugs his shorts to better accommodate the interest down south. Apparently Billy still has the body, but damn does the speedster have a way with wiggling those words to the libido part of Billy’s brain. "Cake time. Absolutely cake time, you little heathen," though Billy is grinning with his cheeks colored.
The last covered plate gets grabbed, the covering pulled away to reveal small funfetti flavored cake with one candle stuck into the top. It doesn’t take much to light it, using one of the already lit ones to do so, and then he holds it out to Tommy. "Happy birthday, babe."
no subject
"You got me cake? Replicated or Billycated?"
THe white frosting doesn't give away the secret of the type of cake though, so he's happily reaching for it to blow out the candle. And you better bet he made a wish.
no subject
"It’s Kaplicated," he grins. The flame sputters and goes out at Tommy’s blow. Then Billy’s getting a knife to cut into it, a neat little slice to reveal the confetti sprinkles inside. "Hope you made a good wish, and that it comes true by the time you make one next year."
no subject
"Kaplicated sounds like a relationship status," Tommy laughs. And then his expression morphs into one of shock and awe.
"Y-yeah. It... Had to be him if it's this. Oh god. He still remembers."
And that's a softer thing than Tommy expected to say.
no subject
Billy sets the cake plate down and reaches over to gently rub his hand on Tommy's arm like a comfort. "I think you had mentioned it before, but I asked Kaplan about your favorite anyways. Vanilla and funfetti. He even whipped me up a sample so I could try it. I can see why you like the stuff."
no subject
He laughs, soft and fond and shakes his head.
"It isn't the best cake at all. It's basically the most mediocre. But it's, like... a good memory. The first birthday cake I ever got to eat on my birthday."
no subject
Better not tempt that fate.
"Well now you get to eat it again. All this cake for you, babe."
no subject
And he leans forward and kisses Billy's lips very lightly.
"Thank you."
no subject
"Bring your cake with you. We're gonna cuddle in the hammock I had made and it's gonna be the first time someone's laid in it."
no subject
"You got it. Cuddling and cake. Can't think of something better, babe."
no subject
Once he’s got his ass planted securely in the net of ropes with legs straddling it to keep his feet pressed to the sand, Billy pats the space in front of him. "After you finish your cake, you can wrap all around me."
no subject
He does raise a hand on the hammock to try and keep it balanced. Would use both, but you know, cake. Once Billy's secure Tommy winks. And in a blur there is no more cake. He can have another slice slower later. But right now, he really wants to be close to the guy.
"One of the things I have to do either super slow, or super fast," Tommy laughs, looking at the hammock. He goes for slow, to not upset them both.
no subject
When Tommy starts to get in, Billy presses his feet more into the sand to ground himself, to keep the netting steady for the guy to crawl in. "Maybe I should've let you speed us into this then. I'll keep that in mind for next time."
no subject
He settles in next to Billy and smiles at him, relaxing a bit to watch the shoreline.
"Nah. It'd be way harder with two people."
no subject
The waves make a steady rhythm, pulling and pushing sand. It's the only sound for awhile, too, with Billy falling quiet to just take in the moment with his boyfriend. It's so relaxing, he almost falls asleep.
Almost.
Then he remembers what Tommy said earlier. "...You really think about motorboating my pecs?" It sounds like a genuine question, even with the humored tone he says it with.
no subject
Maybe that Eddie guy? He does music. So maybe he could do it.
The whole situation is soothing. To the point that while Billy almost falls asleep, Tommy actually does. Until there's speaking that is. He twists his head to the side, trying to rest it on Billy's chest, and smiles.
"Damn right I do. Those fuckers are gorgeous."
no subject
"How about this. Impromptu birthday gift. You get to touch any skin I got bare, and you can kiss from my neck up?" That would put everything from his waist up fair game for Tommy’s hands.
no subject
He would never cross a physical line, he was too noble for that. But he also didn't want discomfort for either of them.
"So let me just... let me bask in being wanted and being special, okay?"
no subject
Billy runs his thumb back and forth on Tommy’s neck in what he’s hoping is a comforting manner. "Also pretty fucking special to me. Because you’re all mine and no one else’s. You better believe I’m not letting anyone take you away from me. Ever."
Billy turns his head to press a kiss in Tommy’s hair. "I hope I never let you feel unwanted."
no subject
"Careful what you say. Octobers here are hell," Tommy says, his voice soft as he lets his eyes close a bit. God this feels so good. More than that, the touch was soothing. God, he's so beautiful.
"I haven't felt wanted very often. So yeah, this means a lot to me."
no subject
His hand keeps moving, finding the silence permission. "You wanna stay here tonight? Or bask in the good feelings kicking your feet like a schoolboy in your own bed at the diner?"
