Alec's wandered to the center in the hopes of finding some kind of supplies or something to help make his apparent stay here a little easier. He doesn't mind camping — not his favorite activity but he can do it — but the weather is hot and the amenities almost nonexistent. He's starting to accept that he's going to have to seek out both supplies and help.

He starts at the center. He's giving the data point there a wide berth, and he's not too sure about the replicator. Currently he's contemplating the supplies box. Do these so-called Agrii want him to just ask for something? Out loud? It seems weird, and like it can't possibly work.

Similarly, Alec is browsing through the offerings at what appears to be a cross between a department store and a disaster area. He needs at least a change of clothes because his are getting a little, well, worn for the several days he's been here. It'd be nice to have something to wear so he can wash them.

He's not having much luck finding anything suitable though. Maybe he's in the wrong part of the place. Or maybe he needs to resign himself to a blanket toga for the duration of doing laundry.

The space seems largely empty, which makes Alec think he might be in the wrong place. But no, it's set up to look like a restaurant, so it must be the diner, right? Hopefully. He's hungry, and he's not quite sure of the protocol he should be following here.

"Um... hello?" he calls into the empty space. "Anyone here?"

Still getting used to using this tablet. Can anyone tell me, all the icons on this home screen seem to be misspelled but I can't find the settings menu. Any ideas?

[This sure is the message of a man who has not realized how the Agrii interpret spelling.]

"Pretty much, I guess," Radley says. "Apparently they're monsters from some of the kids' home world, which is worrisome. Around the time when it happened, this government guy started asking everyone what kinds of monsters are in their worlds in case they show up here too."

He still thinks Albert Wesker is government.

"Oh. That could be problematic." Especially if the demons with which Alec is familiar are brought here. He doesn't think there are any other Shadowhunters in residence.

"Is there a government structure here? Or is this guy just trying to be whatever he was at home?"

Radley nods. "I reaallly hope that doesn't happen. There's some real loco things that happened in my world that I'd hate to see brought here." And he might feel responsible if they did show up, like that they were attracted to him since he was from their world.

"The latter," he says. "I'm guessing he's government, anyway. He sure acts like it. There's no government structure here, really. We're all just equal."

"You and me both." Alec's home has its own demons — literally — and he'd honestly rather not deal with that kind of mess in a strange place like this.

"That's good to know." A small enough group probably doesn't need a governing body. It sounds like this one particular guy is just being the way he is. It's probably nothing to worry about.

Radley nods in understanding.

"Yeah, it's probably best that way. I was a leader back home, but here I'm just one of the guys." He also figures Wesker is just being Wesker.

"I get that. It's gotta be nice to just set it aside." It's not shirking responsibility, it's taking a break. Burnout is real, right? Alex has to remind himself that needing room to breathe doesn't make him weak. He's allowed to take a break as well. "And I mean, with a small community it doesn't seem like it'd be hard to all exist peacefully."

Radley ponders that. Even though he may not be officially considered a leader here, he still takes on many responsibilities as though he is. But unlike home, people aren't always turning solely to him for solutions.

"Yeah, the breather is nice," he admits.

And he smiles. "We've done pretty well. There's just been a couple of weird hiccups, like the time two vampires showed up among our members and were preying on us." He shudders at that.

Alec frowns; he's had enough run ins with vampires on his own to like dealing with them. At least it seems like the vampires aren't still here, but if they can show up once surely they can do it again.

"I guess these aliens will bring all types here." Which has even further implications of course. Alec doesn't like it one bit.

Radley sure hoped they wouldn't show up again.

"It seems like it," he said. "We've got some oddballs, but nobody who actually seems dangerous."

He hoped.

Fingers crossed!

"I imagine everyone has some kind of quirk." Maybe Alec's putting it mildly; he hasn't met many people yet. But with a relatively small population, people kind of have to work together. Even people who don't like each other can probably cooperate once in a while to get something done, right?

"But from what you're telling me, there are far worse places I could be stuck. This might not be so bad, comparatively."

"Yeah, of course," Radley agrees. "Most of us seem to be good about working together, since we have a common goal. It could definitely be worse."

Privately, it's also a break from the stress of back home. There are different stresses here of course, but it's still a break.

"Guess it really makes seems to get myself over to that hotel then, if that's where most people are staying. Help with the whole common goal thing."

Radley would think the stresses back home must be absolutely horrendous if this is a good break.

"Yeah, that's a good idea," he says. "Do you know where it is? I've still got food to tend to here or I'd come with you."

Well, Alec's only been here a short time. Surely there's plenty coming to change his mind!

"Oh! There's a map, right?" Alec digs out his tablet to pull it up. Makes sense to confirm the location before he leaves, especially since Radley is familiar with it.

Sadly, likely true!

Radley watches while the map is pulled up. "Here we are," he says, indicating the diner on the map. "And here's the hotel."

"It's not as far away as I thought." Then again, it's not like there are street signs or anything. For someone from New York City, where there are signs and billboards and ads and noise everywhere, it's a little bit of an adjustment.

"Guess I should get myself over there, check it out while it's still light out." Just in case there aren't lights in the place.

Maybe Radley will suggest that idea to Reeve.

"The hotel has electricity, but yeah, it's better not to wander the city at night when you're not familiar with it," he says.

"Maybe I'll see you there later then." If Radley is staying in the hotel, it's likely they'll run into each other. And maybe Alec's idea of street signs will take off. Maybe he'll even help in making and posting them, once he realizes there will be more people behind the idea.

"I really appreciate all the help. And the meal." It's given Alec energy and direction both, two things he hadn't realized were starting to fail him a little. He'll have to be careful of that in the future.

Radley smiles. "I'm sure you will."

He thinks the street sign idea would be really cool.

"Sure," he says. "I'm glad for the company."
