Alec's wandered to the center in the hopes of finding some kind of supplies or something to help make his apparent stay here a little easier. He doesn't mind camping — not his favorite activity but he can do it — but the weather is hot and the amenities almost nonexistent. He's starting to accept that he's going to have to seek out both supplies and help.
He starts at the center. He's giving the data point there a wide berth, and he's not too sure about the replicator. Currently he's contemplating the supplies box. Do these so-called Agrii want him to just ask for something? Out loud? It seems weird, and like it can't possibly work.

Similarly, Alec is browsing through the offerings at what appears to be a cross between a department store and a disaster area. He needs at least a change of clothes because his are getting a little, well, worn for the several days he's been here. It'd be nice to have something to wear so he can wash them.
He's not having much luck finding anything suitable though. Maybe he's in the wrong part of the place. Or maybe he needs to resign himself to a blanket toga for the duration of doing laundry.

The space seems largely empty, which makes Alec think he might be in the wrong place. But no, it's set up to look like a restaurant, so it must be the diner, right? Hopefully. He's hungry, and he's not quite sure of the protocol he should be following here.
"Um... hello?" he calls into the empty space. "Anyone here?"

Still getting used to using this tablet. Can anyone tell me, all the icons on this home screen seem to be misspelled but I can't find the settings menu. Any ideas?
[This sure is the message of a man who has not realized how the Agrii interpret spelling.]

Want to continue a TDM thread? Let me know and I can tag it back. Prefer one of the prompts there instead of the ones above? We can totally do that instead. I'm assuming the TDM as game canon but have no problem ignoring those threads if you want to go in a different direction, just let me know either way.

Have another idea entirely? Come at me here or hit me up at
sometimesamuse or via PM. Want a more specific starter for your character? Let me know, I got you. Want to handwave an initial meeting and skip intros? I'm fine with that as well, let's hash it out. And as always, while I write starters in prose I'm happy to match brackets if that's your preference. You can find information about Alec here and his permissions are here.

A shame, really. Maybe one day they’ll get to go somewhere similar to the planet Reptilian.
“And your reaction to me felt pretty convincing.”
no subject
"I am sorry about that." He's trying to be better, to be more accepting, but unlearning behaviors is a slow process. "Guess I've been on edge. But that's not really an excuse for anything."
no subject
That hasn’t happened yet. But it could. Still, Leo waves it off.
“I have a brother around, by the way. So now you’ll be prepared when you see him.”
no subject
"You do? I'll keep an eye out." And hopefully not trip over himself in first impressions a second time. "Does this place often bring family?"
no subject
“I like the way you think.”
But as for his potential reaction to Donnie, yeah, he’s glad they got all that sorted out. What if Alec screamed at him and he thought it was because of his freakishly big forehead? Sad…
“I don’t know how common it is, but I know we’re not the only siblings here right now. And apparently there’s one random town in Indiana that the aliens love to abduct people from.”
no subject
"Just saying, it could be funny."
Still, there's something to consider in the knowledge that the aliens seem to have a preference for at least one town. "Interesting. I've met one person who's from the same city as me but I guess a different...version? Still wrapping my head around that idea."
no subject
Not everyone here is from Earth, but the guy didn’t ask what Indiana is so Leo is assuming he probably is.
no subject
"Oh. New York City. Manhattan." Because New York can mean a lot of things.
no subject
“New York City! Sewers. Haha!”
Mostly Manhattan, but it doesn’t matter too much when you live under the city.
no subject
Honestly it helps though. So what if Leo is a talking humanoid turtle? Something about being a fellow New Yorker supersedes all of that.
no subject
"Right?" Leo laughs. "Guess it makes sense that the Agrii would want a bunch of tough New Yorkers to come work on their planet."
Is he a tough New Yorker though?
no subject
"Still, it'd be nice if they could help us out with some better supplies or something. If they can bring in entire people, I wouldn't think supplies would be that hard." Alec clearly hasn't Alec the Agrii for anything; he doesn't know how wrong he is.
no subject
Less for environmental reasons and more because they had no money or access to the economy.
“But a couple months ago we went to a spaceport and got some stuff there, too.”
no subject
"I'll have to check those out. I mean, I don't mind taking advantage of what we have here but also, I need clothes that fit." Alec thought he had problems at home with his stupidly long legs, but in a place where the aliens had an extra set of arms, suddenly having a tall inseam seemed a mundane problem. "I'll have to check out that machine and box."
What's really interesting though is information about the spaceport. It's the first time Alec has heard that people have actually gone off planet. "So the ships actually do leave once in a while and aren't just for show?"
no subject
“Good luck with that.” The clothes, he means. “I think there’s someone around here who makes clothes, too…”
Right now, in the summer, Leo only really wears his gear so he hasn’t looked into it much.
“Yeah, they work! But we aren’t allowed to leave very often. It’s only happened once while I’ve been here, and I got here months ago!”
Leo pouts. “Real bummer of a space adventure, if you ask me.”
no subject
"I'll have to look them up." Though honestly, even something to sleep in for now would be fine, it's not like anyone would have to see him except Alec himself.
"Huh." Good to know that the ships actually have a function! And aren't just sitting there for show, though Alec supposes he probably should explore them a little just because. "I mean, I guess it makes sense if we're supposed to be here making it a better planet or whatever the reason, but space sounds like it would be kind of cool."
no subject
“Yeah, I guess. They kinda pick bad people for that, though. You’d think they’d want a buncha like… farmers and builders and… environment science guys.”
Is there a word for that? Leo has no idea.
“Instead they just pull in total randos.”
