It’s Knuckles who runs to tell Radley that something has changed with the train and maybe they can get back to Temba. Radley rushes to see, calling to the others who have been stuck in Sh’Ka in case they want to come too. He can’t imagine anyone wanting to stay here longer, at least not without finding out what’s up in Temba.

He rides back with Knuckles and Fang again. Even Fang seems interested in what they’ll find ... apprehensive, even. But they pull in to what looks like a completely normal city. Bewildered, they step out and start to look around.

“Hello?” Radley finally calls.

He looks in the diner, half-dreading what he’ll find.


Wildcard Radley will be going all over Temba to check on everyone, so he can be encountered anywhere!

Where else would one find Tae than at the hospital. She is just damn tired of sweeping up, but there's this purple powder around the edges of the rooms. IT was bothering her, how much it looked like the sand from the strangest dream she felt like she'd had.

And of course when she hears someone behind her she sighs.

"Please tell me you're here to help clean and you're not bleeding from your eyes or something."

Radley stares at the sand.

"Yeah, I'll help clean," he says. "What happened here?"

Tae hands over the broom and sighs. She's going to need to find another one.

"I don't know. It just... fits with a weird dream I had."

[crystalmaster]

Radley frowns and starts sweeping. "So the sand came out of your dream ... or maybe it wasn't a dream at all?"

He's not sure which idea is weirder at this point.

"I... can't say," she says with a sigh. "I suppose I would have to consult with others. But it sounds silly."

And what if she seemed silly for saying it out loud?

[crystalmaster]

"At this point, I kinda wonder what really would sound silly anymore," Radley says with a sympathetic smirk.

"Mermaids," Tae says, flippantly. Because that's what she remembered. Sea urchin spines in Steve Rogers' tail. The waters being so clear, and too bright for how weights of water actually exist. It was all very strange.

[crystalmaster]

Radley just blinks in confusion. "Mermaids? There were mermaids here in your dream?" Or whatever it was.

"A lot of them, yes. And mermen. I suppose there should be a term for them all as one unit. Mer I suppose."

It feels unsatisfying, but what else does she have.

"So ... what were they doing here?" Radley asks, still bewildered.

[butterfly_kiss]

"I really don't know. I just... it felt like there were. Like I had been one. That we had always been one perhaps?"

But that's just silly.

[crystalmaster]

Now that is startling.

"There was a freaky dome over the whole city," Radley says. "We couldn't get through it at all." He frowns. "And there's this sand everywhere.... I wonder if it really wasn't a dream and the dome was filled with water.... That's just loco, though.... How could something like that be real?"

That sounds impossible. Even her expression says it sounds silly.

"There isn't sound here. And If there was water, it would have caused damage. All of my electronics are still functioning."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah. It doesn't make sense. Maybe you were all in virtual reality or something?" Radley suggests. VR tech is pretty advanced in his world. "... That still doesn't explain the sand, though."

Virtual reality?

Back home she would laugh because that wouldn't be possible. Except this isn't home. This is here. It's entirely possible she supposes.

"No, I suppose it does not."

[crystalmaster]

Radley sighs. "I'd say to just not worry about it, but ... it is kind of a worry. Suppose it was real, somehow. What else are they capable of doing to us?"

[butterfly_kiss]

Now there was a horrible question. Tae sighs and stops her sweeping to glare down at the floor.

"They've already done a lot of horrible things. I would rather not dream up more things and let them cause still more suffering by our own words."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, I didn't really mean to do that. I mean, we'll have to be more even alert than before," Radley says.

And it still might not be good enough. This had happened without anyone able to prevent it.

More alert? Tae sighs and goes back to sweeping. She's just so damn tired these days.

"I'm not sure alertness is going to help us."

[crystalmaster]

"Me either, but what else have we got?" Radley sighs too.

[butterfly_kiss]

She doesn't have a good answer for that.

"Patience, I suppose."

[crystalmaster]

Radley gives a dark smirk. "Yeah." He sighs again. "I had to be really patient back home, waiting for a solution to our problems there. It took a long time."

Tae sighs.

"I'm a doctor. I prefer not to wait for problems to get solved. I'm a researcher."

[crystalmaster]

"Oh, I actively tried to do what I could, but I still ended up having to wait. I still wonder if I made the right choice, though. It was a complicated situation without any easy answers." Radley stops sweeping and surveys the floor.

There are so many moments in life that work like that. She sighs.

"These situations are definitely complicated for me," Tae admits. "I hate it.
