Idle Hands Something Something

WHO: Donnie, Leo, and circumstantially open
WHERE: Agrii Ship - That Room
WHAT: Being delinquents
WHEN: During the end of Phase III
WARNINGS: Injury?

They probably shouldn't be in here.

But then the thing about places that were locked up is that it just screams that something's been hidden there, something people aren't supposed to be meant to find. And naturally that just begs questions of what.

Handling repairs and skirting Agrii politics gets tedious, so it's inevitable that Donnie opts to go investigating new secret tech. He'd had a brief look at the place before, back when the shield had yet been in place, but now that it's open, there's nothing keeping him from poking around.

"Creepy, right?" He'd dragged Leo along, or at most gave the suggestion because he has no other brother to be a willing accomplice. The space is huge, lined with rows of some sort of beds as far as the eye can see, hundreds upon hundreds of them.

"Why the heck would this be in a sealed off area of a spaceship?"

While Wesker notices the strange portal underneath them, he can't move out of the way to prevent the drop. What he can do, however, is to quickly shift his hold on Tony to not snap the man's neck with the sudden motion and impact. So between the portal opening and landing somewhere else, Wesker quickly moves Tony's body to hang safely over his shoulder instead and holding him there as he drops back on his feet, now glaring at the turtle instead.

"I can ask the same." He growls. "If BOTH of you just did what I said, your brother would already be awake again." It's really no wonder that these people just kept getting into these sort of predicaments. No one pauses to take a moment and just think rationally.

Tony had pulled enough Gs in his life that feeling the ground tilt enough times in quick succession wouldn't usually make him feel like he was going to puke. It was the unexpected impact on his guts and sudden rush of air that managed that part, and all he could really do was grab blindly to try to get some control back and figure out where he was based on the way Leonardo's voice bounced--first over there, then just as suddenly up close, and that wasn't helping either.

If Wesker hadn’t been choking him in the first place then Tony would have handled the drop just fine!

“What you said!? You barely said anything, and then you just took off! And you can’t do that, guy, because no matter how you look at it your vibes are rancid.

“And this guy,” he gestures at the still-recovering Tony, “is supposed to be some kind of smart guy, or that’s what Dee said. Someone who actually understands all his nerd speak. But all you did was turn off the power and then kick it!? Come on, man, even I know how to do that!”

"I recall telling you to not let this fool do anything stupid." Wesker reminds the turtle without letting go of Tony just yet. The man may be puking his guts out while clinging to him, but that wasn't the actual issue at the moment.

He uses his free hand to give his sunglasses a quick adjustment. It's at that very moment that the power returns to the room with a hum and the dim lights around them return. "My vibes change nothing about the fact that obviously I am the only one around here that prefers a professional approach. I am here to fix the mess you got yourself into and all I ask in return is that you refrain from being idiots for five minutes." Wesker has tried the non-violent approach. But with someone like Tony that always seems to be an attempt in futility.
faceguy: (i guess this just)

[personal profile] faceguy 2024-04-14 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Does the “professional approach” include choking people!? …Well, Draxum threw him off a roof and tried to kill them multiple times, so maybe…

The power coming back on is reassuring - at least Donnie isn’t going to suffocate. Nothing else about this situation is doing much to calm Leo’s anxiety, though.

“Fine, whatever, the power is back on now. Can you see what kind of shape he’s in now, or do we need to get him out of the pod first?”

Wesker wouldn't have to choke anyone if they'd just act a little more rationally. The man over his shoulder seems a little uncharacteristically quiet, so Wesker exhales once sharply through his nose and turns to a nearby empty pod, types in a quick command for it to open so he can place Tony inside before closing the pod and typing in yet a different command to speed up the man's own recovery. Maybe Medical isn't as useless of an expertise as Wesker has always made it out to be.

"It's impossible to make use of these pods without the correct expertise." He finally clarifies while moving back to the one occupied by Leonardo's brother. "Which is the same with the weapons provided by our hosts and the Security expertise." His usual expertise. Therefore the connection has been easy for him to make and conclude that he needs to switch to be granted the correct knowledge and access.

He reaches the other occupied pod and brings up its control panel. "These pods are medical devices. Your brother got teleported into one due to the ship detecting that he got badly hurt. While inside, the patient is kept in a sedated state but can be reawoken near instantly."
faceguy: (id like some desperate measures please)

[personal profile] faceguy 2024-04-14 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Sedated… So that’s why Donnie isn’t waking up. He hopes that’s safe - that these pods can figure out the differences in dosages between Agrii and mutant turtles.

So they just needed the medical data point to use these! …Wait.

“You’re a doctor and you didn’t have the medical expertise already?” Leo shakes his head, holding his hands out. “No, never mind, I don’t care, just… how hurt is “badly hurt” here? Is waking him up safe?”

"I don't need a data point to tell me something I already know." Wesker states as he puts in the command to start the process to open up Donnie's pod. Which isn't a long process so Wesker is quick to move back to where he has left Tony, giving a short wave in response to Leonardo's concerns. "He will be fine. The same goes for Stark."

Tony's injuries were minor at best anyway. Though he will feel better after his short stay in the pod regardless. Not that it matters. The man will remain a nuisance. And yet Wesker still enters the command to have him released from the pod as well before returning his attention to the turtle about to be freed. In which case freed doesn't automatically mean awake and well however. There is additional work to be done. Medical work.

There wasn't even a dream. Tony couldn't remember being asleep, so he had to blink a few times to realize he was lying down, then remember to take a deep breath, and in the time that took Extremis was already catching up for him. He could practically feel its web expanding as it cycled back online, connecting through the networks, and bringing Leonardo's last text back into focus. Too fast then, he was lurching up, grabbing at the sides of the pod and hoping the momentum would finish the reboot as he groaned, "Donnie...?"

They were still there. It had been closer to seconds than it had been minutes since Wesker had roofied him, and in that time they had just opened the bed that Donnie had been trapped in. That was what Tony had thought, anyway, that he was trapped, but now he was glancing between Wesker and Leonardo, mouth open, then clicking shut. That explained why they were so angry with him. Were they, what, just seeing what he would do? This was some kind of test? Unable to look at either of them now, but straining up to try to see Donnie, he tried cautiously, "Did I hurt him?" If it was a test, Tony had not only failed; he was painfully, tight in his chest aware that he hadn't learned anything, either. He didn't understand why his opening the bed wouldn't have worked, and he was the only one in the room that stupid.

The pod's open, and Leo doesn't hesitate to put his hand on Donnie's shoulder, just to touch him, to reassure himself that his brother is there and... and still alive.

Which he is, but he's hurt. Leo has no idea what damage the shock might have done, he just knows Donnie needs a doctor to actually look at him and not choke people and cause chaos. Even now, Leo's heart is pounding as he wonders what happens next, and if there will be any help at all. He's not sure he's ever been this scared in his life - maybe once, but that time, he didn't feel so utterly alone like he does now.

Tony waking up doesn't really do anything to assuage Leo's panic. At his question, Leo looks first at him, then at Wesker, then back at Donnie. He doesn't know how to answer that. None of the letters in TMNT stand for "doctor". So Wesker will have to answer that. And Leo will prepare for if the answer is yes.

"Irrelevant." Is the answer they both receive from Wesker's end while he takes off his leather gloves on his way back to Donnie. Pointing fingers and casting blame is not going to help anyone at this moment. If anything it causes more unrequired tension.

With his hands bare Wesker takes the hand Leonardo has placed on his brother's shoulder by the wrist as if to check his pulse. His other hand does the same with Donatello's wrist. This is followed by him placing the backs of his hands to both turtle's foreheads to make a mental note of the difference in temperature. This would be a lot easier if he had any medical records to go by. But when Wesker asked for people to come in for blood tests and a basic examination, he was met with little more than a very strong resistance. And yet situations like this oe is exactly why he had made that request. Now he has to use Donatello's brother as live reference for turtle vitals. At least between him and Tae he is still the one with actual experience if it comes to dealing with mutants. Which in turn means that he unfortunately can't simply push this patient on to her.

"I want him in medical." Wesker finally announces. "Stark, you will find something to transport him safely."

They were both sick. Whether Donnie was hurt seemed to Tony like the only relevant question, because he was still laying there, and he wasn't moving. And now that Tony was watching them again, they were both back to doing nothing about it while he climbed out of the bed, then was struck still by Wesker's request. Once again, the answer seemed unambiguously obvious to Tony, except instead of open the pod it was simply pick him up, and now he had to glance hesitantly between Wesker and Leonardo for some hint of the single answer they would actually accept this time. Or was it just that he was supposed to prove that he had learned his lesson, and would stay away from them? They could play this game when it didn't involve Donnie's wellbeing. This time, Tony didn't give them the chance to argue with him by explaining himself, he just shoved in between them to scoop Donnie up and stalk out of the lab.

Leo jumps when Wesker is suddenly touching him, but he catches on quickly enough that he doesn’t fuss. He doesn’t know how to say that Wesker isn’t going to get a good resting heart rate from him right now without admitting that he’s two seconds from a panic attack, but he supplies, “We usually run lower than humans. We can self-regulate our temperature but not as efficiently.” Words he’s heard Donnie say as he rambles about all the things he’s discovered about their mutant biology that Leo never bothered to learn, and is now wishing he had.

And then Tony is moving again, picking Donnie up to carry him out. Leo has no idea if this counts as “transporting him safely,” but it’s probably what he would have done too.

Regardless, he’s not letting Donnie out of his sight, so he jogs to catch up.

Just that Tony never gets far enough to even touch the unconscious turtle or even has any success in his attempts to move the former STARS Captain aside. Instead he is stopped in his approach by a firm arm across his chest and the low red glow of Wesker’s glare piercing through his mirrored sunglasses back in him.

No.” Is the only thing he says. A single word stated firmly and with finality.

There didn't seem to be a way to respond that wasn't playing into this sadistic game at Donnie's expense, making Tony's frustration burn in his throat as he sighed, "Don't touch me." Not responding to getting choked meant he deserved to be sedated, so just not playing wasn't the answer, and someone had to help Donnie. Tony leaned into that arm to scoop the kid up anyway. He was leaving. Wesker could play by himself.

"I am protecting my patient from your hubris." Wesker states, his arm remaining where it is, but his other hand moves to grab one of Tony's wrists while he maintains his glare. "If you want to help him, stop getting in my way." And that's about as much of a warning as Tony will get at this point.

It wasn't just Wesker. The Soldier had reacted to him the same way when Tony thought he was answering a call to help Cal. A smarter man would have understood that math a long time ago, and finally this time Tony clenched his stalled fist, and kept still. Staring at Donnie anxiously was only making his eyes burn, and he had to close them abruptly with a deep breath while he pushed that feeling back down, assuring himself that if he really did want to help Donnie, that Wesker was right, and it was better that Tony stayed away. Donnie was going to be fine if Tony didn't screw it up anymore. He just had to go get himself a drink.

[personal profile] faceguy 2024-04-19 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
The stand off seemed to end with Tony backing down. Leo was still watching all this anxiously, rubbing at the skin of his arms.

“Then how are we going to get him to Medical if we aren’t going to carry him?”

Is there some kind of fancy sci-fi backboard around? They’re down in the bowels of the ship, so Leo doesn’t think they could maneuver a wheelchair or a stretcher out of here.

And he’d really appreciate if the two adults in the room could get it together.

Wesker may not be an empathetic person, but the anxiety around him is hard not to notice. Though this kind of sentimentality is not someting he necessarily understands. Or wants to understand.

But Leonardo's question is a valid one. One that Wesker has to ponder while letting go of Tony's wrist. He doesn't want to risk any further injuries by handling the unconscious body incorrectly. He doesn't know nearly enough about Donnie's body. But he knows that the medical area of this ship is well equipped to deliver a full diagnosis and he can easily work from those results.

They may have to improvise. Unless-

"You teleported us before." Wesker says after a few moments, shifting his attention over to Leo. "Can you do that precisely enough?"

As soon as Tony was released, he started to back away, holding his own wrist against his chest and only speeding up when presented with the threat of being caught in another magical spell. He retreated back to the pod he was supposed to be in, tense and watchful, focus flickering to check if anyone else was in the medical bay to properly receive them, bursting out texts to Tae, Billy and Steve at once with his hands still kept carefully still.

Leo glances at Tony moving away, then refocuses on Wesker.

“It’s… hard to aim when I don’t know where I’m going, but… I think I know the area around Medical enough to try.”

If it will help Donnie, he’ll do whatever he has to.

With Tony moving away, Wesker leaves the man to his thoughts. He has no reason to bother him. Instead he takes in Leo's response with a short nod.

The word try is what he finds concerning.

"Teleport me first. Then I send you instructions for what adjustments need to be made. You send Stark next to test the adjusted location before you follow with your brother." If possible he wants to lessen the chance of Donatello being dropped into a room from mid-air.

At the sound of his name, Tony's focus snapped up, first on Wesker, then jumping to Leonardo. His eyes were wide and his mouth set in a thin line, and he gave a minute shake of his head.

Leo glances over at Tony, too. The man does not look thrilled at the prospect of using his portals again, and, well, maybe that’s Leo’s fault. His bad.

He looks back at Wesker and shakes his head.

“No, we don’t have to do all that. I can make my own adjustments.”

So saying, he unsheathes his sword, then envisions where he wants to go. His markings are still glowing, and while he doesn’t need them to be able to use his power, it does make his aim steadier.

He focuses on the area outside Medical first, because he’s never been inside. Then with a quick slice, he opens the portal - parallel to the ground, this time.

Then he sticks just his head and upper body through, the rest of his body staying behind in the pod room.

After a moment to orient himself, he finds he’s close enough to open the door to the medical ward. He does and takes a good look. Then he pulls back, letting the portal fall closed once he’s clear of it.

“About ten feet forward and a little to the right,” he says to himself, and then he opens portal again, and sticks his head through.

And then comes back. “Okay. You can go through.”
sunglassesincluded: (Let's finish this)

[personal profile] sunglassesincluded 2024-04-21 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's even better. Wesker may not have a full understanding of how exactly Leonardo's abilities work, but he is open to learn about them. So he watches the turtle do his thing, vaguely wondering if he should have expected these turtles to have magical abilities. a lot of the beings pulled in by these aliens seem to have those.

The placing of the portal takes hardly any time at all. A useful skill to keep in mind for sure. And unlike Tony, Wesker has no trepidation about making use of the presented path once Leonardo tells him it's good to go. He can trust the turtle to ensure his brother makes it over safely at least.

And so Wesker is the first to make it over to the medical wing to wait for the rest of their small group.
