[Open] I been hangin' around
WHO: Leo and you~
WHERE: the Agrii ship
WHAT: just messing around during event part 3
WHEN: throughout the event
WARNINGS: none
A: Arrival
[The hanger bay is bustling with activity as everyone tries to move what they need for repairs to the right spots. There's a lot to carry, and the ship isn't exactly small. It sure would be nice if there was an easier way...
And then, right in the middle of all this hubbub, there's a quick flash, and then a person-sized circle of shimmering blue suddenly opens in the air, just above the ground.
Leo steps through, having just carried something elsewhere for Donnie. Instantaneously. Because he can teleport.
Hey, did he tell anyone he can do that?]
B: Around the Ship
[Sure, Leo has the Communications data point now, but that doesn't mean he knows how to help. For one thing, the version he got off the ship isn't as powerful as the one on the planet's surface, and for another, just getting the knowledge of code beamed into his head doesn't make him some master programmer. This just isn't his area.
At least, that's his excuse for why he has completely forsaken repair duties in favor of hanging out with the younger Agrii.
He'd been hoping to learn a bit of their language, but unfortunately the Comms data point doesn't help him there, and the Agrii themselves don't seem very interested in teaching him. In fact, it seems to be the other way around, as they encourage Leo to speak so they can learn more He Row.
And, well, Leo's never had to be convinced into talking.
Catch him chilling around the ship, a small gaggle of young Agrii with him, chatting up a storm.]
So Mikey said, "I can do the one eighty, too!" and I said, "No way, little bro, you're totally gonna eat concrete," but he said he could do it so I let him try, and what do you know? [Leo slaps one palm off the other with a loud smack.] He beefed it.
["Beefed it," repeat some of the Agrii kids.
This language lesson is going great.]
C: Outside the All Gather
[So you've finally done it - you've managed to convince one of the Agrii kids to take you to the All Gather, or perhaps followed them to this location. It was hard work, but you're here. Maybe you can finally find out what the Agrii are-
There's a few ripples on the surface of the water, and then a bald, green head breaks through with a splash. Hey, wait, that's not one of the Agrii.]
Hold on, hold on, I have to breathe sometime!
[Whoever he's talking to, they must still be down below.
Leo blinks water out of his eyes, catches sight of the other crew member across the surface of the lake, then grins and gives a little wave.]
Oh, hey!
[Yeah, he's just here to swim.]

[The slightly tinny voice comes from just a ways behind Leo once he's stepped out of the portal. The hooded Exo smiles crookedly at the turtle from where he's lounging against a couple of stacked crates.
Things may be bustling in the hangar, but then that's exactly why he's opting to stay out of direct traffic so the people who actually need to handle repairs can do so.]

Either way, it’s interesting for sure!
Leo grins back, waltzing over and thus completing ignoring those who are still carrying things the long way.]
Thanks. I’m pretty much the master of portals.
no subject
Yeah? That'd be pretty useful. The only thing I know close to it is a transmat system but it's all relays and signals, and the last two are things that we don't have enough of around here. [He sighs.] Which is a shame, because it means I can't pull out more than one gun from my pocket. Figuratively speaking. Well, kind of.
What's your range, kid?
no subject
At the question, he flexes a little.]
Oh, it’s pretty huge. I’ve portaled across oceans before. [He sags a bit.] Mostly on accident.
I’m better at aiming when I can see where I’m going, or if I know the area pretty well.
no subject
So how's it work?
no subject
[How does he even describe ninpo?]
Usually I just think about where to go and then I reach for the magic, and boom, portal!
no subject
Sounds simple enough. Make it any more complicated and you might get your head stuck somewhere and your leg in another place altogether. Care to give me a demonstration? -not of the head and leg thing.
no subject
[He suddenly looks way more excited. “Space” and “magic” is all Leo’s favorite things in one sentence (okay, actually, that would be something like “space magic basketball skateboarding comics”).]
Oh, right, yeah, I can show you! [He’s always happy to show off. He swings his sword and opens up a new portal, its match appearing on the other side of the hanger. He motions at it for Cayde to step through.]
no subject
[Cayde pushes away eagerly from the crates, rubbing his gloved hands together before enthusiastically bounding through the portal.]
-woohoo!
no subject
Pretty cool, right? And I can do more with it than that.
no subject
Ooh, what else can you do?
no subject
[He grabs a random piece of rubber lying around the hanger and then opens a portal and drops it in. The portal’s mate opens right above it, and the rubber begins to fall through endlessly, picking up speed as it approaches terminal velocity.
Once it’s there, Leo tips the portal and the rubber is launched across the hanger. Is it safe to be doing this while there are people here? Eh, it’s probably fine.]
See?
no subject
Good one! Bet I could take out a whole bunch of targets at that speed if you sent me across a battlefield that way. Too bad there's not much opportunity to try but the thought's there.

[Of course Robin's passing by, with her arms full of things she's carrying toward engineering for someone else. And of course she had to stop over the statement 'beefed it'.]
Are you taking about skateboarding, by the way?
no subject
[There’s much worse slang he could be teaching them, Robin!]
But yeah, we’re talking about skateboarding. You skate?
no subject
I mean, it's bad english, but whatever. That's not relevant I suppose. And no, I don't skate. But my friend Max does. She might like to know there are more like her.
no subject
What’s bad about it? [He taught them its correct usage in a sentence!] But oh yeah, Max. The redhead?
no subject
It sounds dirty. Not that I'm against dirty all the time, but they're kids, right?
[Though if he knows Max personally, then he's got to hear spicy language from her plenty.]
Yeah. Max is the redhead.
no subject
[Seriously, Robin, what do you think he’s teaching them?]
Cool. I’ll have to see if she knows any good spots back on the planet.
no subject
[Be culturally sensitive, guy!]
She probably does by now, even though she doesn't have a skateboard yet I think.
no subject
[Unless you’re like, made of rock, or something.]
no subject
[Not the word police, but she does believe in language and what it stands for.]
no subject
Alright, if you’re so smart, why don’t you teach them how to talk?
