[Someone hasn't been getting sleep lately but that's hardly unusual so maybe you can't tell the difference.]

Hey. I made a bunch of breathing masks for anyone who needs one. There should be enough but if there isn't, I can always make more. Reusable filters, powered option available for places where cleaning them off isn't convenient, a full charge should last eight hours but I haven't been able to stress test that one.

In before 'hey Donnie, these could've been really useful a lot earlier on' -sorry, I didn't know we'd have some interdimensional crisis to deal with when I was tweaking designs for ash filtration but hey I figure better late than never and just in case is better than unprepared for next time, fingers-crossed, hope there's no next time.

I'm leaving a box of these at the hospital so you can come grab them as you will. One per customer, don't be greedy.

[And true to his word, the turtle teen comes to the hospital, a crate in his arms as he navigates his way inside. He has absolutely no idea where to put the thing so he's just going to slip into the first open door he comes across and leave it there. Ninja back out.

Hey, man. Try not to sweat it too much, we pretty much have no way of knowing what this place is gonna throw at us at any given time. Besides, I think we were mostly focused on not getting eaten anyway.

Dude. Beating ourselves up over should haves and could haves is just gonna drive us crazy feelin' bad about stuff we can't go back and change. All we can do is take what we learn from what happened, and apply it to whatever might pop up in the future.

[It's fine, they can both have their weird insecurities! Like Sonic over here realizing that he's more or less just a useless little pointy lump when he loses his powers and can't even do Brain Stuff like Donnie and the other nerds can! Good times. But moving on.]

You should. Look, I know that's pretty much torture for you but either you take care of it now or mess it up for good and not be able to run, and then we'll have to just replace it with a robotic prosthetic or something.

No, I've been hard at work on Project Coconuts since I showed you my blueprints. I remained in Sh'Ka throughout the duration of...that.

Honestly, this just reinforced my desire for proper security.

Probably for the best. I wanted to see how the storm effects worked in certain circumstances but...things went well beyond what I was told about them.

Security's good and all, but the power was knocked out for a good part of the storm, and network communication with it. We need to figure out a workaround.

What of the power station here in Sh'Ka? I don't see why we couldn't find a way to reroute power to Temba in the event of a catastrophe.

It's...not a natural power outage. It cuts out more than just tech, it affects special abilities if people have them.

And according to the Agrii, the range of the storm can reach even beyond the planet's atmosphere, so they have to move their ship or else they'll be compromised.

Hrm.

I'm assuming it's a temporary effect.

[He idly wonders if that energy can be contained or transferred but...he'll sit on that musing for now.]

In that case, there are two avenues to explore. One is perhaps seeing if there's a way to shield sensitive equipment from the effects of the storm. Insulation or some other means of energy transference. The other is finding some sort of analogue solution. A purely mechanical method that does not require significant technology to function.

Temporary so long as the storm is there, at least to my knowledge. This is the first one I've experienced and it seems that it even went against that expectation because at some point people had access to the comms and powers.

Good suggestions. It'll be difficult to test them given how the storms don't run consistently, which I guess is a good thing. But analog might be more worthwhile in case anything else might affect the power grids.

[Having seen the announcement, Radley comes to the hospital to get a mask. Seeing Donatello, he goes over.]

Hey, this is a great idea you had.

[He just seems glad the masks are here now, rather than being upset they weren't before.]

Huh? Oh. Um... Well, it seemed like a necessity. I just didn't realize how beneficial it would have been outside of the whole volcanic aftermath.

Yeah, I never thought about it either. But the way things are here, I'm sure there'll be plenty of uses for them going forward.

That's...not exactly a great way to look at things but in the case that anything does happen, at least it's one less thing to worry about.

It's hard to see it other ways after everything we've been going through. And when things were like that back home too, at least in the way of something else always going wrong. Not these kinds of going wrong, but still bad.

Compared to what just happened here, I think I largely prefer the wild occurrences back home. Which...don't seem all that crazy in this light, and that's saying something.
