[Someone hasn't been getting sleep lately but that's hardly unusual so maybe you can't tell the difference.]

Hey. I made a bunch of breathing masks for anyone who needs one. There should be enough but if there isn't, I can always make more. Reusable filters, powered option available for places where cleaning them off isn't convenient, a full charge should last eight hours but I haven't been able to stress test that one.

In before 'hey Donnie, these could've been really useful a lot earlier on' -sorry, I didn't know we'd have some interdimensional crisis to deal with when I was tweaking designs for ash filtration but hey I figure better late than never and just in case is better than unprepared for next time, fingers-crossed, hope there's no next time.

I'm leaving a box of these at the hospital so you can come grab them as you will. One per customer, don't be greedy.

[And true to his word, the turtle teen comes to the hospital, a crate in his arms as he navigates his way inside. He has absolutely no idea where to put the thing so he's just going to slip into the first open door he comes across and leave it there. Ninja back out.

Hey, man. Try not to sweat it too much, we pretty much have no way of knowing what this place is gonna throw at us at any given time. Besides, I think we were mostly focused on not getting eaten anyway.

I know, I know, but still. I can't help but think that at least if I had put a little more focus on this or...or did that, then...

Dude. Beating ourselves up over should haves and could haves is just gonna drive us crazy feelin' bad about stuff we can't go back and change. All we can do is take what we learn from what happened, and apply it to whatever might pop up in the future.

[It's fine, they can both have their weird insecurities! Like Sonic over here realizing that he's more or less just a useless little pointy lump when he loses his powers and can't even do Brain Stuff like Donnie and the other nerds can! Good times. But moving on.]

Right. So, it's not like, destroyed? But it's not great. Fighting that big monster thing definitely didn't help it. I should probably stay off it for a while, but...

You should. Look, I know that's pretty much torture for you but either you take care of it now or mess it up for good and not be able to run, and then we'll have to just replace it with a robotic prosthetic or something.

But yes there is a subject change. It's a subject that Sonic hates, but it eats at him a lot less than the other one.]

That's kind of a leap, isn't it!? Like, I'd think there'd be some kinda surgery to fix it before we jump straight to cutting it off and slapping on a robotic one!

Makin' one's probably the only way I'll be able to get one, I doubt the hospital has tiny hedgehog sized crutches on hand.

Or...any crutches, really. But if they did, considering how tall the Agrii are, I don't think they'd be very compatible with you.

[Aaaand some time later, which probably feels like an eternity to Sonic either way...]

Sonic? I'm back- made a quick stop to grab some pizza since I was over there, in case you're hungry.

[He'd probably been trying to take a nap or something, but as soon as he hears Donnie coming in, he hops up, grabs a bad, and hobbles his way in to wherever Donnie is. Yes, he should be sitting. No, he AIN'T GONNA.]

Heck yeah, I'm starving! What kind is it?

[Donnie figures he should have expected as much, but he manages not to scold the hedgehog, instead moving to cut the distance shorter between them.]

I've got veggie baconroom whatever it's called and um... something that's supposed to be pepperoni-adjacent. Hopefully.

[Sonic's mostly been good since the storm ended. He hasn't even reopened any chomp wounds! He even finds a place to sit and prop his leg up without needing to be told to. ~~also he grabbed a bag, not a bad, I CAN SPELL WORDS~~]

As long as it doesn't taste like peanut butter, I won't complain. So! You remember how I was tellin' you about all the wild stuff we have back home, like the emeralds with all the crazy power?

[Good boy! Donnie won't have to ground you!

He sets the boxes down on the table while Sonic sits himself.]

Nope! No peanut butter involved here. There's a perfectly good, functioning pizza oven now so there's no reason to spoil it by adding peanut butter.

[Donnie grabs a slice of the baconroom one, settling into another chair.]

Oh yeah, how can I forget that? What about it?

[Wow Donnie you're not my real mom!

Sonic is super pumped for peanut butter-free pizza, but before he digs in, he pulls his bag into his lap and whips out a big, shiny green gem]

Before the storm, one of 'em fell right out of the sky and cracked me in the dome! It completely slipped my mind since, y'know, monsters n'stuff.

[Okay so Donnie did not expect Sonic to just whip one of those things out! The explanation is even more bizarre- but one sec, he's trying not to choke on his pizza.

[he's half joking, he can see that Donnie has this under control. Probably? Yeah he's fine. Sonic turns his attention to the emerald once he's sure Donnie isn't going to drop dead on him.]

But yeah, just fell right out of the sky and into my skull. Happened right after Eggman showed up, while he and I were out checking out the volcano. I have no explanation, I'm kinda used to nothin' making sense at this point.

[He's still trying to clear his throat a bit but at least he can breathe.

Now he's just squinting at the shiny gem.]

Probably the Agrii making great decisions as per usual. So the doctor knows about it?

Yeah, but I'm not like, super worried about it? I'm sure he knows that it wouldn't be to his benefit to try to use it for some kinda world domination plot, seein' as he wants to get home just as much as the rest of is. At least I'm pretty sure he does.

[He sets the emerald next to the pizzas in case Donnie wants a closer look, and drops his bag on the floor before folding his arms thoughtfully.]

By itself it's really only good as a power source, assuming it even works like it's supposed to here. Without the other six I can't transform, so me just keeping it here all the time wouldn't really do any of us any good.

[He taps at his goggles to lower them before reaching over with his un-pizza'd hand to pick up the emerald for a closer look, curious about what sort of readings it might give.]

Might be good for an emergency power source if that's the case. Although if things work the same for when powers get sapped during storms, it might not be all that effective...

[Well, it's called a chaos emerald, and it's a source of near unlimited power, so the readings are probably pretty wild?]

Yeah, I don't know if it would work during a storm. I just wonder if there's any way we can use it to help us figure out what causes them, maybe.
