Attention! This is Dr. Ivo Robotnik speaking and, as I assume I'm not the only one stranded on this wretched world, I am opening up communications for some proper answers. It appears my abductors can't be reached at the moment and I've already spent enough time familiarizing myself with what little information that is available.
If you have received this transmission, make yourselves known. Rest assured, if there is a way off of this world, then I will be the one to find it!
[And he may even let you tag along. Maybe.]

Well there are shovels and hammers. I'm lucky I've got a drill and a saw because I'm pretty sure they don't have those in stock. But when it comes to tools in general, as someone who's had to improvise for many things, I know it at least isn't impossible, at least. I might even be willing to lend some out, provided they come back to me in the same condition.
[He holds up a finger. No, not flipping the Egg off, it's just... Well it's difficult when you only have three digits but work with him here!]
-ah, as for the communicator, you might not get very far without another data point.
See, this place has some very annoyingly specific learning curves that for whatever reason can't be absorbed the usual way, and unlike the initial data point with the welcome brochure, these other ones are very subject specific and overwrite information if you touch more than one.
no subject
[He'll have to remember that.]
Interesting. Tell me, has anyone attempted to download any of the information in the aforementioned data points to a localized drive such as this communicator?
no subject
[His mind is precious! He does not like the idea of some external force tampering with it somehow!]
Hm. Not that I am aware of, but there isn't much other way to access the information aside from tactile means. Given the very obvious absence of a written language of any kind, it might very well be that this particular technology is specifically designed for wetware over hardware.
no subject
Then it shall be my first order of business! Once I secure myself a place to work and some tools, I'll have to take a better look at these other data points to properly assess their function.
You've been most helpful...erm. You.
no subject
The location of all the data points should be on the map function on your tablet.
[He blinks then.]
Oh! Right, sorry, got ahead of myself. Donatello- or Donnie, as I'm more commonly known by.
no subject
[Look, he's not the most...athletic person. Why do you think his nemesis runs everywhere?]
Donatello. It seems like you're a cut above most of these brainless half-wits. What sort of experience do you have with robotics?
no subject
[Hey, Donnie gets it. He doesn't even like having to use his legs when he can use his tech even being fairly athletic himself.]
True, no real method of transportation within the city. Not to mention the shuttles have been taken away for maintenance of some kind, and now the hangar's hidden behind some kind of shielding.
[He sighs. It's annoying. He just wants to fly a space ship, is that too much to ask for??
Ah, but the good doctor's observation coaxes a grin from him. Just a bit smug. Okay, a lotta bit.]
Why thank you for noticing. As to your question, I am completely self-taught and have dabbled in my fair share of robotics. Unfortunately I don't have much by way of examples here, and the battle shell I've managed to build here doesn't employ as much as some of my other models.
Is that your area of expertise then?
no subject
I see...! So you've experience in personal armaments and custom engineering! I think we'll get along quite well, Donatello! After all, only true genius can appreciate true genius~! You'll have to show me more! I'd be most interested in seeing some of your designs!
[Intriguing...! Bahahaaha!]
Robotics is my one true passion, yes. Though I've dabbled in other forms of engineering as well as other arenas of study. Why, I've even tried my hand at virology.
As long as I can build and tinker I'm quite content.
But...wait. What was that about a hangar?
no subject
You have your own hovercraft? Oh that sounds amazing. I don't think I'd be able to get away with something like that in New York, but I did make a tank.
[It is SO nice to be recognized for his genius and here he hasn't even shown the man any of his tech yet. At least another genius won't be trying to take advantage of his ingenuity, not like certain giant spider women...]
Well said, my good doctor! Unfortunately a lot of what I have here are mostly designs or in-between states as of yet, but I'd be happy to show you.
[Virology? Should he be concerned? Ah, it's probably fine.]
Personally I'd love to have my phone access to a network beyond the local one for true contentment but at least with no shortage of things to work on, it's hard to get bored. [Easier to get frustrated, sure.]
The hangar- it's located in the northeastern corner of the city. Or it would usually be. Right now the roads lead to seemingly nothing because the shield reflects its surroundings. Honestly I've had enough of shields, I've been seeing too many of late and I can't even get a proper scan from them.
no subject
[He'd never admit it aloud but being able to talk shop with someone who wasn't A) an idiot or B) a sycophantic idiot, was actually somewhat fun.]
Nothing wrong with designs, Donatello. The grander the better, I always say. I'd be more than happy to see what you've worked on when you're ready.
[Too easy.]
Hm. Yes, this network does seem to pose a problem. Perhaps you and I can examine it. Come up with a workaround or improve upon it.
...For the good of everyone, of course.
A shield...and no sign of an emitter?
no subject
[He can't imagine why!]
I'll let you know, then. It'd probably be better to give you time to settle into things here anyway.
[Maybe by then Donnie and Sonic will have found a suitable living space with room for workshop amenities. Oh yeah. They're kind of roommates. That's...not an important detail is it?]
I've suggested a separate network to someone who has the communication data point- which apparently you need to be able to do any codework with these devices. Not sure how that's gone, but there's always room for improvement. Anyway, I'd be up for giving it a good look some time.
[He scowls then.]
Nope. Nothing obvious, and if it's underground, I'm not sure how deep or if it's coming from inside. It could even be externally projected for all we know, this place likes breaking rules.
no subject
[Chaos emeralds are especially good at powering doomsday devices.]
Yes, I too need to find suitable accommodations. I'll have to put that on my ever growing to-do list.
[Oh that's not important. In fact, it'll be a nice surprise!]
Yes, there's that pesky problem of having acquired knowledge forcibly over-written. I'll have to experience the phenomenon first-hand before I can start to brainstorm potential solutions.
[Eggman fiddles with the end of his mustache in thought.]
Underground is possible but so is orbital. Though, the signal would have to be powerful enough to avoid interference from the energy storms that ravaged the planet. It would be daunting if it wasn't so intriguing! Rules exist to be bent and shaped by those with vision after all! Rule of law, rules of nature! None of it is ironclad as long as there is ambition!
no subject
Well look at it this way, at least you missed the volcanic eruption so you're starting fresh! And anything that hasn't collapsed from everything that came with that ordeal will likely be quite sturdy.
[Donnie can't help but stare a bit at the mustache-fiddling. He half expects the thing to move on its own.]
Orbital has been a possibility I've considered. There's a lot of potential out there and it's even more convenient for whoever's making use of such means because we're limited to things planet-side.
Hm. That...is an enlightening way to look at things! Oh this is the breath of fresh air I needed, I've been kind of in a rut and totally forgot that perspective is everything!
no subject
[This young turtle will certainly prove useful.]
Exactly as you say, Donatello. Perspective is the key. And unfortunately, there are those who have set perspectives. Perspectives that do not waiver and therefore stagnate.
It is up to us to envision for them. It is a heavy burden, isn't it? But what is the antithesis of convention of not invention?
no subject
You certainly have a way with words, doc.
You're absolutely right. This place has been running within set boundaries so long it's even affecting the way we think. Time to blow things wide open!
no subject
And I, personally, have been taken by your choice of words, myself.
[Perhaps being stranded on this dead world won't be so bad after all...]
no subject
[It has nothing at all to do with his penchant for wanting leave a lasting impression, whether figuratively or literally. Well, okay, it has everything to do with it.]
no subject
I look forward to seeing what you concoct now that you've emerged from your stagnation.
no subject
I shall strive not to disappoint!
no subject
In the meantime, I'll be searching for a suitable facility to designate as my Command Outpost!
I'll have to see if I can get a rudimentary EggNet framework mapped out...
no subject
Let me know if you might need anything in the meantime.
[Salute! Donnie, out!]
