Back to the Diner

1. Diner

Radley is so relieved to be back on the surface and relieved that the city is relatively safe. He immediately goes to the diner to inspect things there and bring back the utensils he had taken. He starts making a list of everything he wants to get back in stock as quickly as possible. After he gets what he wants, he'll probably be there way into the night, so happy to be back where he feels he belongs while he's here.


2. Replicator

Radley has to come here for some of what he wants. He decides to start small and prays that the replicator is working properly even after the eruption.

"Hopefully I won't get peanut butter everything," he mutters to himself and anyone in hearing range.


3. Greenhouse

Radley comes here to gather plants. He stays alert, examining everything and looking to see if anyone else is here too. He's relieved to see everything's been watered. He's sure Tommy will be happy too.

"Thank you, as ever," she says, smiling at the tea. Once it's in hand she takes a deep breath of it.

"Tell me I'm not the only one shocked we didn't get massively Pompeii'd here.

[crystalmaster]

"Sure."

He nods. "I was afraid we'd come back to nothing. A few places got hit harder, but overall it looks like we can rebuild without too much trouble."

It was a reasonable fear. That they really had maintained anything was more shocking. Even with alien support and promises to help them.

"We just need to know someone who can help guide that. I don't know how to build."

[crystalmaster]

"I can build to a certain extent. I can put up walls, but I'm not good at putting in plumbing or electricity. I helped a lot with building up the town back home," Radley says. "One of my friends did a lot of the HVAC stuff."

Plumbing and electricity and all of the rest was so very well beyond Tae of course. NOthing to be done for it.

"Perhaps you picked something up by watching?"

[crystalmaster]

"Maybe," Radley muses. "But I'd still rather trust it to everyone who fixed up the showers underground."

Well that would make a lot of sense. Tae laughs and raises her tea cup as if in toast.

"That makes the most sense to me as well."

[crystalmaster]

Radley smirks. "I'd be happy to help patch up the walls, though," he says.

"I'd offer the same, but my fingers," she says, wiggling the long, delicate things. "I'd hate to get something on them."

Which of course isn't her actual complaint, but she smiles as she sips her tea.

"Honestly, there's so much restoration that needs to happen at the hospital I don't know when I'll be free. Guess it's lucky I live there."

Still smirking, Radley nods. "Oh, of course." He truthfully hates manual labor and only does it in general if he's really needed ... or if he feels like he is. But that's often if there's disaster clean-up or building a town.

He frowns at this. "Really? It was hit hard?"

"A lot of stuff disordered and stuff needs evaluated for disposal," she says with a sigh. "The waiting room is mostly okay. But you have to be sure with a hospital which means I need to go back through to double check things."

[crystalmaster]

Radley nods. "It sounds like a big job."

[butterfly_kiss]

"Yeah, and as much as I love Albert, I doubt he is going to be as helpful in this. He's seemed... on edge."

Which she can't explain but can understand.

[crystalmaster]

"... Yeah, I noticed that."

Radley tries to avoid the guy whenever possible.

"It's probably surprising we're not all on edge like that, after the last few months we've had."

Really, why does everyone dislike him? He's such a darling!

"Yes, it really is a thing. I'm hoping for some nice peace and quiet for recovery. You've been here a while. How likely is that?"

[crystalmaster]

Radley doesn't even know the terrible things Wesker has done, but still thinks the guy is government back home and that staying out of his way is wise. He gets a big "government cover-up" vibe from him after their brief interactions.

"... Kind of likely. We've had some periods of several weeks of peace. Then something happens that turns everything upsidedown again."

He's done terrible things? Tae hasn't noticed that. And she definitely hasn't paired him with government in her mind. Virologists are just like that.

"Several weeks?" she says, sounding less than impressed. In fact, she sounds annoyed. How is she supposed to keep people fit and healthy, much less do research, in these conditions?

"Hardly seems like they are helping us help them."

[crystalmaster]

Radle smirks darkly. He's not impressed either.

"It sure is a mess, isn't it?"

Yeah, it was that, often. She sighs and has another sip of her tea. Damn did she ever miss proper coffee.

"That seems to be a standing order here."

[crystalmaster]

Radley laughs. “Pretty much.” More annoyedly, he added, “We just get one cleaned up and another happens.”

"So damn inefficient," she grumbles as she finishes her tea. Then she gets to her feet. "Okay. Let me help out some before I head back there, okay? Do you have dishes that need cleaned? Pots needing scrubbed?"

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, I sure do," Radley says. "Any help would be much appreciated."

[butterfly_kiss]

"Wonderful. I just happen to have the hands and the drive not to head home for it. Show me where you keep the cleaning supplies. I could even mop this place up some."

Too much recent practice.

[crystalmaster]

"That'd be great!" Radley says, relieved to not have to do it all himself. He quickly shows where everything is.

And of course once she has everything before her and demonstrated, it's not hard to get Tae started on the work at all. This is clearly something she's done before and happily accepts as a fair balance.
