Volcano event log [Open]
WHO: Link (and Zelda for prompt ii) and you!
WHERE: Hotel, Agriculture building, the Warrens
WHAT: Link runs for supplies, introduces Zelda to a bunch of people, and does some cooking and exploring
WHEN: Before and after the eruption
WARNINGS: NA
i. A race for supplies [open]
Link doesn't have all of his memories of the Calamity. But the ones he does have are vivid, and he is reminded of them all too much right now.
The first thing he does is get Zelda to the mines. Before anything else, she has to be safe. Anything less is not an option.
But once she's there, there's more to do. Because it's not enough to get to the mines; Link knows that they'll need supplies.
It would be easy, if he had his korok-enchanted pack. He could carry enough to feed everyone, if he had that. But he doesn't, and so Link has to carry things the hard way. In his hands, with only as much as he could carry in one trip.
Right up until the deadline starts getting close, Link journeys back and forth. To the Agriculture building and the Diner, for food and ingredients. To the hospital, for Tae's medical supplies. And the Hotel, for Lark's cloth and materials.
And his own room. This he gives a brief look of despair, at all the things he's going to have to leave behind - his giant mgoose antler, his pressed flower collection, his shiny rocks...
But he leaves them all. It's only the elixirs that he takes - the chilly elixirs, and fire resistance. And a few of the speedy ones as well - which he uses to move faster than usual as he keeps running relentlessly, back and forth between the mines.
ii. Royal introductions [open, will be joint threads with Zelda]
The mountain erupts. They enter the warrens. And then they're all just...stuck in there.
Well. There are some people that Zelda needs to meet. Why not now? They're all stuck in here without much else to do - and it's probably easier that dragging Zelda all over Temba and Sh'Ka in search of them.
So Link and Zelda just wondering around the Warrens. And when Link spots someone he thinks Zelda should meet, he just pulls her along by the arm towards them. Hovers awkwardly in their general vicinity. And then says, "Hi".
He is, perhaps, not the best at introductions.
At first, the focus is on people who have knowledge or skills he knows would interest people - the smart science people, as Gladio would call them. But eventually that ends up being expanded to pretty much everyone who Link vaguely knows and doesn't actively dislike. Because who wouldn't want to meet Zelda?
iii. Food and explorations [open]
Amazingly, Link does not spend the entire time in the Warrens glued to Zelda's side. Just most of it.
When he isn't, he's usually on cooking duty. He hasn't had to make his food stretch like this in a while. But he still knows a few tricks, a few good recipes that'll do more with less. He can make a few good stews and soups. To everyone that needs it, he hands out a meal.
And sometimes, when Zelda's busy and he isn't needed at the cooking pot...Link ventures out into the Warrens. Just a little bit. Or maybe more than a little bit, because Link can't help but feel the need to explore every little nook and cranny.
iv. Wildcard!

"The Sheikah artifacts only started working again when there were signs of the calamity's return. So, if the Sheikah Slate is losing it's abilities it could be because Hyrule is safe once more, thank to Link, of Course." She says fondly as she glances back at him.
no subject
"More like a giant spider. With Guardian legs," he says. "And then...a giant boar?"
And when Zelda starts to sing Link's praises, he doesn't say anything - but his eyes to flicker briefly over towards her, before looking away quickly.
It's not like Link isn't use to people calling him a hero, or talking up his achievements. Sidon does it all the time, after all. But somehow, he's not quite sure yet just how to react when it's Zelda doing so.

She's trying to think of a better way to explain the Calamity without just offering entire hour long history lesson about Hylia and how Ganon was said to reincarnate until he gave up reincarnation and took the form of pure malice.
She's pulled from her thoughts as she hears the shutter and looks up. "No, even I can use it to capture images. I was using it for studies of flowers that grow in Hyrule Field. However, in Link's hands it's supposed to be capable of much more."
no subject
And then - because Tony's just taken a picture of them and Link wants to see it - he leans forward, trying to get a peek at the screen. Is it a good one?

"For starters, there was a map of Hyrule. The other runes included Remote Bomb, Magnesis, Cryonis and Stasis." She explains matter-of-factly, though she is a little wary of how Tony's looking at it like it might come a part. She's fairly certain that is exactly how Purah looked at it upon first seeing it, too.
no subject
"And one to summon the Master Cycle Zero," he adds. That rune he didn't get until much later...but he missed having access to it, all the same.
He likes his horses. He likes his horses a lot. But the Master Cycle Zero was just fun.

"Oh." How did she explain the master cycle? "It's sort of like a mechanical horse, I suppose-expect it's on wheels." Hyrule technology isn't quite to the point of bicycle and motorcycles just yet.
Zelda gently takes hold of the casing she's been handed and watches with interest what Tony's planning to do.
no subject
"One wheel at the front, one at the back," he adds. "Instead of legs."

"I'm sure we'll manage without." She honestly doesn't have high hopes for Tony to be able to get it working to full capabilities. After all, she doesn't really know what the Sheikah did to create it in a the first place. It's a shame Purah isn't there as she's certain that she would know.
no subject
Oh well. At least he could still shield surf.
“What about magnesis?” He asks. “Or stasis?” Of all the runes - apart from remote bombs, which could solve all problems - they were probably the most useful.
no subject
Link moved on quickly, though, and had Tony once again looking at the Slate for any sign that it did anything like generate magnetic fields. "I can set you up with a tractor beam no problem," he concluded with at least a lot of confidence in his voice. "If your magnesis is making other things magnetic, that's a chemistry problem, you might want to talk to Peter. That's the kid who sticks to walls, you can't miss him."
no subject
"A tractor beam?" She asks curiously. She knows very little about how the different runes work. "It doesn't really make things magnetic as it only works on metal."
no subject
"Magnesis is the magnet," Link says. Because of the two of them, Link is the one who has actual experience in how magnesis works. He might not really understand it. But he does know how to use it. "It lets you pick up metal things. Move them around."
no subject
The way Link phrased it, though, he had a very specific kind of purpose for the talent, which Tony could happily report to Zelda, "Tractor beam," with a point at Link and his moving around. "Except it doesn't matter if things are metal. Well, it does, it won't matter to you, it'll feel seamless. Don't worry about it. I can program this." That last part, at least, he did feel very confident about, indicating the Slate with a little wave that had the mothcat's eyes tracking it hungrily.
no subject
Anyways, enough talk abut the calamity as her eyes light up when Tony says he can program it, hope blossoming into her chest.
"Can you really?" She asks eagerly, taking an involuntary step forward, hands pressed together as if in prayer. "what about Cryonis? That's the ability to instantly freeze water into blocks of ice."
no subject
"Floating blocks," Link adds. "That aren't too cold to touch." If the blocks had been like real ice, Link wouldn't have been able to climb them. Honestly, he wasn't even sure if they were actually ice at all.
no subject
He made an impatient gesture to take the casing back and restore the tablet to how it had been presented to him, although he looked a little anxious about Zelda's optimism, not eager to turn it to disappointment so quickly. "That's kind of a chemistry thing, too..." he started to temper, only for Link to make it much weirder. Tony narrowed his eyes at Link, pretty sure the guy didn't really have a sense of humour and wishing that wasn't true, and had to admit, "Uh...You'll be needing a magic guy for that. Floating warm ice. Not my area. Is it...do you eat it?"
no subject
"No, it's more for him to climb on." She offers. Well, at the moment there's not much of a need for Sheikah Slate so it's probably not hurting anything that Link won't be able to use it. At least it still takes pictures.
no subject
It certainly its uses, though it wasn't Link's favourite rune. (That would always be Remote Bombs. Always.)
no subject
"You hang onto that, I'll work up a tractor beam and a hard light projector to give you something to climb on, and we'll reconnect when I've got something for you," he said. "It won't be ice, sorry about that, if that's an important...preference or whatever, not that I'm judging, please, I'm not that hypocritical."
