Volcano event log [Open]
WHO: Link (and Zelda for prompt ii) and you!
WHERE: Hotel, Agriculture building, the Warrens
WHAT: Link runs for supplies, introduces Zelda to a bunch of people, and does some cooking and exploring
WHEN: Before and after the eruption
WARNINGS: NA
i. A race for supplies [open]
Link doesn't have all of his memories of the Calamity. But the ones he does have are vivid, and he is reminded of them all too much right now.
The first thing he does is get Zelda to the mines. Before anything else, she has to be safe. Anything less is not an option.
But once she's there, there's more to do. Because it's not enough to get to the mines; Link knows that they'll need supplies.
It would be easy, if he had his korok-enchanted pack. He could carry enough to feed everyone, if he had that. But he doesn't, and so Link has to carry things the hard way. In his hands, with only as much as he could carry in one trip.
Right up until the deadline starts getting close, Link journeys back and forth. To the Agriculture building and the Diner, for food and ingredients. To the hospital, for Tae's medical supplies. And the Hotel, for Lark's cloth and materials.
And his own room. This he gives a brief look of despair, at all the things he's going to have to leave behind - his giant mgoose antler, his pressed flower collection, his shiny rocks...
But he leaves them all. It's only the elixirs that he takes - the chilly elixirs, and fire resistance. And a few of the speedy ones as well - which he uses to move faster than usual as he keeps running relentlessly, back and forth between the mines.
ii. Royal introductions [open, will be joint threads with Zelda]
The mountain erupts. They enter the warrens. And then they're all just...stuck in there.
Well. There are some people that Zelda needs to meet. Why not now? They're all stuck in here without much else to do - and it's probably easier that dragging Zelda all over Temba and Sh'Ka in search of them.
So Link and Zelda just wondering around the Warrens. And when Link spots someone he thinks Zelda should meet, he just pulls her along by the arm towards them. Hovers awkwardly in their general vicinity. And then says, "Hi".
He is, perhaps, not the best at introductions.
At first, the focus is on people who have knowledge or skills he knows would interest people - the smart science people, as Gladio would call them. But eventually that ends up being expanded to pretty much everyone who Link vaguely knows and doesn't actively dislike. Because who wouldn't want to meet Zelda?
iii. Food and explorations [open]
Amazingly, Link does not spend the entire time in the Warrens glued to Zelda's side. Just most of it.
When he isn't, he's usually on cooking duty. He hasn't had to make his food stretch like this in a while. But he still knows a few tricks, a few good recipes that'll do more with less. He can make a few good stews and soups. To everyone that needs it, he hands out a meal.
And sometimes, when Zelda's busy and he isn't needed at the cooking pot...Link ventures out into the Warrens. Just a little bit. Or maybe more than a little bit, because Link can't help but feel the need to explore every little nook and cranny.
iv. Wildcard!

"Uh, hi. You okay?" Tony tried, trying to at least account for the thousand possible things that could have gone very wrong in Link's journey down here before he had to express them, and only mostly being able to factor in an extra person. His focus flicked to her, eyebrows raised inquisitively, hoping that she could sympathize with how difficult Link was to talk to if she wasn't a little more verbal.
no subject
What she wasn't expect and maybe she should have, was that Link had led them up to someone at perhaps the worst time to be introduced to someone new. Well, he was trying and supposed that was what really counted.
"Please forgive the intrusion." She states, watching the mothcat with interest. "We certainly don't mean to interrupt." As it turns out, she is far more verbal than her counterpart.
no subject
As it turns out, Zelda's words weren't exactly the truth. At least on Link's part. Because he did intend to interrupt, and Tony was someone Zelda would want to meet.
"He's Tony," he says. "He makes things. Like Purah."
Unfortunately, Link doesn't think to make the other half of the introduction. Namely, introducing Zelda to Tony. Apparently, giving information to her ranks over giving any to him.

no subject
"I'm Zelda, Princess of Hyrule. Though that title does me very little good here." She introduces herself. "Purah is the name of a good friend of mine, she's the director at the ancient tech lab."
no subject
Tony was something Link had found...confusing. Difficult to understand, and talk to. But that was Link, who was never that great at talking to people anyway. Zelda though? Zelda was different. All those things Tony said that went over Link's head, he was sure Zelda would be able to comprehend.
"Zelda's smart. She likes science."

Link's greeting is, likewise, exactly as abrupt as Dustin is expecting. He sighs and turns his head slightly. "What do you--oh."
Zelda hovering next to him is a genuine surprise. Not that Dustin doesn't know who she is - her picture has been in the 'Dictionary' too long for him not to know. But seeing her in person suddenly conjures other, fuzzier memories, ones that aren't even his. Zelda cradling Link in her arms as he slowly loses consciousness, sobbing over him.
Dustin blinks and shakes the images out of his eyes. "Do you, uh--" Befuddlement is still written clearly on his face, and his train of thought has been completely disrupted in spite of his best efforts. "--Need? Something?"
no subject
"Hello, please forgive the intrusion." She says. "We don't actually need anything, Link is just introducing me to people. I've only just arrived here-or well, a few weeks ago. My Zelda, Princess of Hyrule however, just Zelda is fine."
no subject
Then he crouches over Dustin's work, inspecting it closely. Looks like Dustin's suit's taken some damage. But Link's seen just how tough Dustin's exoskeleton is - so whatever happened to it must have been serious.
"What happened?" he says, glancing up from the damage to look at Dustin.
no subject
"--Yeah, I know," he says, nearly cutting her off. He knows roughly when she arrived, he knows who she is. Dustin even knows she's a princess, thanks to yet another borrowed memory flashing through his head and distracting him. An eclectic group of people watch in horror as a billowing plume of smoke bursts from a distant castle--
He squeezes his eyes shut and takes a moment to knead the crooked bridge of his nose. Then, abruptly, Dustin stands up to face the both of them at his full height. Which isn't any taller than Link's, but at least he and Zelda aren't just hovering overtop of him now like the suit he's trying to work on.
"A volcano happened, Link," comes the deadpan answer. Dustin would rather not get into details about how he stayed behind way too long to try and gather as many of his crafts as possible, and probably ended up losing more in the process, so he changes the subject. "Yeah - I make stuff, I guess. Link is one of my primary customers."
no subject
"Have I-" She starts, a little uncertain. "Done something to offend you?" She chances asking. There'd be no other reason to brush her off like he had, would there?
no subject
That's the sort of reckless thing that Link's supposed to do.
"He's grumpy," he says, to Zelda. She shouldn't be offended; that's just how Dustin is. Although Link was sure Dustin would come to appreciate Zelda eventually.

Keith was just as bad sometimes, but... he was getting better? Because he was able to move on a bit.
"Did you need something?"
And, oh, hey... another pointy ear person. Keith had been meeting a lot of them over the past few years of his life.
no subject
no subject
“He’s Keith,” he adds. At least he doesn’t need to give anyone his own name here. They both already know it.
no subject
"Nice to meet you," he said. "You're not interrupting. It's fine." Heck, they were all stuck down in these tunnels for a while, so it wasn't like there was anything else to do but actually talk to each other. Keith was a lot like Link in that respect... not very good at making conversation. "I'm guessing you just got here. Awkward timing." Right at the start of another crisis. Ugh.

"And who is this fine young lady? Is-"
Wait... No. Her eyes go wide. She remembers. She saw this young woman.
"You're Zelda."
no subject
"Yes." She nods her head. "I apologize, you know mine, but I'm afraid I don't have your name."
no subject
Namely, Calibrations.
"...She saw some of my memories. Of you."
no subject
"It is nice to meet you. And it's Dr. Takemi," she corrects Link.
no subject
"It's very nice to meet you as well." She offers. "I've always found the study of medicine to be fascinating." She comments.
no subject
Then he nods, agreeing with Zelda. “Zelda knows a lot.” Much more than Link did, certainly.
