Something Happens and I'm Head Over Heels
WHO: Steve and Eddie
WHERE: Hotel
WHAT: DATE TIME!
WHEN: Nowish, after Calibrations
WARNINGS: None
The best thing about this new relationship is the mornings. Well, alright, all of it is pretty good but the mornings are definitely Steve's favorite. He'd never had the opportunity to regularly wake up next to someone and now he is spoiled with it. Sometimes he wakes up with a mop of hair in his mouth. Sometimes he's got Eddie hanging off the bed as he spent the night restlessly pushing him. And sometimes, like this morning, he wakes up in Eddie's arms, warm and secure. Steve nuzzles his face into Eddie's chest, enjoying a slow, leisurely waking process. Part of him just wants to go back to sleep entirely. But no, he can't.
They have plans.
"Babe," he hums, shifting to kiss against Eddie's neck. They'd planned today to be THE DAY. Their date: Eddie's first and Steve's millionth but definitely first with a guy. Honestly, he was probably more excited than Eddie was for the whole thing.
Steve reaches over for the die he'd created and the little notebook he'd scribbled his plans into. The die is plopped on the pillow next to Eddie's head and Steve goes back to the light pecks along that pale neck.
"Babe, it's time," he singsongs between kisses. "Rise and shine. It's time for me to be the best date you've ever had!

"Oh, so you don't want me to blow you?"
no subject
Steve sighs, beaten, but not really upset about it. He puts his hands on hips, smirking as he watches Eddie walk away.
"If I didn't think it would get us both punched, I'd say we should try it against Hargrove. But I don't need another concussion."
no subject
"Eh, I'm concussion free, I'll give it go just to see the look on his face."
no subject
"How'm I doing, hmm?"
no subject
"...maybe making me regret not going to more games." Not that he's joined the bandwagon of being a basketball guy or anything, but...he can see the appeal in watching Steve run around and enjoy himself.
no subject
He hands the ball back over.
"Here. Once you make three shots, we can call it a day if you want to. But the last one you're gonna have to fight for."
no subject
Eddie dribbles with the ball with a smirk. "Is that counting the shot I all ready made, or three new shots?"
no subject
Steve gets into a very loose defensive pose and makes a few kittenish swipes at the ball.
"That first one was pretty good. I think I'll let you hold onto it. Two more."
no subject
He manages to shift the ball and himself, nothing that would pass in a real game, but enough to keep it from Steve when he's going easy on him.
"Gonna be one in a second-" he says, shooting a shot that actually goes in to his surprise, despite the boasting.
no subject
Steve watches in surprise and pride as the next shot ball goes right through the basket. He whoops and rushes forward, hugging Eddie around the middle and peppering the side of his face with kisses.
"Look at that! I can't take it easy on you anymore." He laughs as he takes off for the ball and starts dribbling it faster and more like a real game.
"Alright. C'mon, babe. One more."
no subject
"Yeah, right. Definitely wasn't all luck," he laughs, tongue poking out in concentration as he tries to swipe the ball from Steve.
no subject
"You and me? Lucky? I don't know if that sounds right, babe."
no subject
"Heh-" he breathes, "True." Luck has not been their friend. At least not in Hawkins. Here maybe- they were having a better time of things?
He makes another swipe, fingers grazing the ball.
no subject
"You're getting pretty good at this..."
no subject
"You're pretty good motivation," he allows with a smirk, dodging and trying for another shot.
no subject
"Am I?" He isn't too much of a brat and hands the ball back to Eddie so he can actually make the shot this time. He's been a good sport about all of this. No need to drag it on until he's frustrated.
"Hopefully I'll be half as good as you right now when I learn guitar or something..."
no subject
He tries again, the ball teetering on the edge a moment before rolling in.
no subject
"That," he says when he pulls away, "Is not a locker room thing. Well, not that I've seen, I guess." He grins.
"Had fun? Ready for the next stop?"
no subject
"Too bad," he breathes with a laugh. He considers a moment before nodding. "I might be willing to play again," he concedes with a grin, "Just for you. But yeah, I wanna see what else you have planned." Which means finding that dice again.
He gives it a roll and- "Thirteen."
no subject
He reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a folded piece of paper. Opening it up reveals a very, very crudely drawn map complete with a pretend castle (named Castle Cool), a forest (Spookywood Forest), a menacing cave (Menacing Cave), and small town (no name given but the pointy houses are very cute).
"Ta da! I made a mission thing!"

The basketball left on the 'court', Steve takes Eddie's hand again and gives a light tug.
"Part two of the date: food and fantasy. Don't expect too much though. Everything I know about DnD was against my will before you so this is my best whack at it."
no subject
He's pulled along, falling into step with a smile. "I'm excited to see what you've taken in," he laughs.
no subject
Steve brings up their hands to press a kiss to the top of Eddie's.
"You might need to come up with a new character. Think you can do that on the fly, babe?"
no subject
"In a heartbeat," he assures with a cocky smirk.
