Arrival Part 2 [Network Video]
[Now that Connor's been here for a minute and met a few people, he decides to try his device again.]
My name is Connor. I'm a recent arrival. I've met some of you already, but to those of you I haven't- hello.
[Short and to the point.]

Detroit. Early November 12th, 2038. Hello, York.
no subject
He keeps it to voice only.]
Huh. You are literally three days ahead in my timeline. November 9, 2038, 11.00PM in Detroit before I was brought here.
[Then a text for Connor to respond to.]
01100001 01101110 01100100 01110010 01101111 01101001 01100100 00111111

What were you doing when you were brought here?
[And a text in reply:]
01011001 01100101 01110011 00101100 00100000 01001001 00100000 01100001 01101101 00101110 00100000 01011001 01101111 01110101 00100111 01110010 01100101 00100000 01101110 01101111 01110100 00100000 01100001 00100000 01000011 01111001 01100010 01100101 01110010 01101100 01101001 01100110 01100101 00100000 01100001 01101110 01100100 01110010 01101111 01101001 01100100 00101110
[It reads, Yes, I am. You're not a Cyberlife android.]
no subject
Shit.
Suddenly York feels like he revealed his hand too quickly.]
existing as androids do
also what makes you say that about what kind of android i am?
no subject
Of course. Deviant on the Jericho by then, correct?
[Connor shakes his head. Still on video, York.]
You don't have a voice that corresponds to any Cyberlife model in my database.
no subject
[He's glad he's only on voice, so this Connor guy doesn't see the gold glow of LED under his shirt. There was a Connor from his world, whispered about amongst the androids and York had a simulated sinking feeling that this was the same android.
The Deviant hunter, they called him. York wasn't interested in being hunted here.]
no subject
What model are you? Were you built for someone in particular?
[Whatever would give you that idea, York? Is it because his uniform identifies him as an RK800? Does that even mean anything to York?]
no subject
Custom model, so I don't have an identifier. Nosy bastard, aren't you?
[Everything was pointing at this being the actual deviant hunter, so of course he was going to be nosy. He looks and sounds like the infamous deviant hunter anyways. That's really unfortunate.]
Custom models usually do get built for someone specific and I don't have permission to reveal my owner as per their security selections. What model are you, since you wanna ask about me, lets hear about you.
no subject
I'm a detective, of course I'm nosy. Even custom models have identifiers. Markus does.
[He raises one eyebrow.]
Interesting. [He leans back a little, folding his arms over his chest. He knows York can see him.]
RK800, #313-248-217 dash 51. Designation: Connor. I was the android sent by Cyberlife.
[...]
That is, until I deviated on the Jericho. Now I'm just Connor.
no subject
He does watch how the other android leans back, as if calculating and relaxing in the same moment.]
Was. And now you've deviated? Could be programmed to say that to get deviant androids to trust you.
[But Connor says he was on the Jericho. York doesn't know anything about what happened after the event of the raid save for what Markus told him. And that hadn't any mention of Connor in it.]
How're you going to get me to believe you?
i got his # wrong, omg
You can believe what you want. I don't care. I don't even know you, why does it matter whether you trust me or not? I have nothing to gain here- even if I hadn't deviated, who am I going to turn you in to? Last I checked, this isn't Detroit and there is no Cyberlife here.
it's okay! (I looked for two hours to find Yorks and it wasn't even in one of HIS threads!)
Geez, simmer the fuck down, Connor. You could always take me to some tech person and have me fucking reset for all I know.
[Then the device flickers as the video feed finally turns on to show York from his end.]
Don't be so emotional about it, Connor. Even if you did try to turn me into someone, I suspect I've got a few humans on my side that would keep you from doing that anyways.
[He sits back, and it's evident he's in a hotel room.]
Your time point before here - were you still on the Jericho or after? Because I got brought here right after... its fate.
🤣glad it's not just me!
[Other androids don't seem to realize that he was just like them before he deviated- he was following orders programmed into him. That his own orders were very different and unique is beside the point; he was as trapped by them as they had been.
His eyes widen at the sudden switch to video. He huffs a derisive, humorless laugh.]
Isn't that what you want from me? Proof that I can feel emotions?
[He rolls his eyes.]
I have better things to do with my time.
[He shifts on his feet, but his overall demeanor remains the same, arms still folded across his chest and face set in a neutral expression.]
I deviated on the Jericho. Markus shot me in the church. I was ordered to shoot Markus while he was giving his victory speech. [He closes his eyes, scrubbing a hand down his face before speaking from behind his fingers. He's tired.]
I deviated again, in the crowd.
Yeah I'm a dunce about MY OWN OC
[He gives his own eye roll, like Connor is a nuisance more than anything.]
Well, whatever it's worth, Connor. I'm glad you're on the deviants' side at least. All it takes is one or two androids to talk and the rest of us knew about you pretty quick.
We can be dunces together
[This introduction is going swimmingly!]
And yet no one bothered to talk about how I deviated? Why does this not surprise me?
[Nope, no bitterness in his tone at all.]
aww yis [high fives]
[York does sound like he's getting distressed, a blue tint of light on his chin changing to gold with flickers of red.]
👍
His eyes flick to the light on York's chin, following it down to his chest. Interesting, but not something he's going to ask about. York doesn't seem eager to continue the conversation and it's not any of Connor's business.]
<3
[Well, second. York had done a good job at least of isolating himself not long after arriving, that's for certain.]
There's not a lot of androids here, three including me. So if you need something, just pipe the fuck up. Don't go sulking or something. It won't do anything except make shit worse. I'm sorry I was a dick and all that.
💕
[Connor is more outgoing than that, at least in part thanks to his social integration suite of programming. He could avoid York and still have an active social life here.]
So you, Markus, and me? I wonder why they chose to take us all from the same place. Surely there are other androids in the multiverse. [He's musing aloud, don't mind him.]
What? Oh. Yes, thank you. Maybe I will. For what it might be worth to you, I'm sorry too. For everything.
no subject
[York looks uncomfortable thinking about that. But he pushes the thoughts away and sighs just for the presentation of it, instead of actually needing to.]
I have no idea why they chose me. I'm nothing like you or Markus. They could've brought someone else instead of me here. At least you've got detective skills and probably other shit, too. Markus is a good leader.
Don't worry about it. I shouldn't have been so harsh when I started talking to you. Habit, I guess. One I need to break out of my programming.
no subject
[Connor is always uncomfortable about what happened at Jericho, but he's learned to ignore it, and like York, to push the thoughts away. He's not at the point yet where he's ready to examine them.]
There must be something about you, maybe something you've yet to discover about yourself. Or maybe it's all random. I don't know.
[Another rabbit to chase down a hole. Later. Sometime in the future.]
It's fine. I don't expect any less from other androids. I know what I did.
no subject
[He holds up a finger like a warning. Like he'd actually be able to do anything against someone like Connor. York wouldn't, he doesn't have the strength for it like the detective android does.]
Yeah, well, if you've deviated and you're trying to be better, I shouldn't be holding you back, fucker.
[He huffs even though it's unneeded. A trait he's probably picked up from the humans around him here.]
You can't learn if you're just caged in by what I knew of you already. And even that's outdated because you're ahead of me in our timeline.
