I. Beat The Heat? | Temba Fountain

There's nothing that is even remotely nice about her arrival. Here she is, tired, grieving, freaked out about everything going on at home, and BAM! Wake up in a damn fountain. Her clothes are dripping now, her hair is limper than Steve's without his expensive hair spray, and it's blisteringly hot. Oh, and did she mention she woke up with her bicycle on her? Which she was now having a hell of a time lifting over the edge of the fountain?

Okay, it wasn't that it was too heavy. But it WAS fucking awkward and her hands were slippery and...

"Oh Fuck you!" she curses as she loses her grip again and the bicycle splashes back into the water.

II. That's Not What I Expected | Temba Hangar

"Oh you have GOT to be kidding me."

Aliens. She was kidnapped by ALIENS, and she didn't even get to see the space ships that were supposed to be here? She's biked all the way over here, over the literally worst roads ever, had to carry her bike around massive cracks and rubble, and tried awkwardly to follow the weird map on her little 'pocket computer' and this was what she got?

"Come on!" she shouts into the hangar. "Aliens have space ships! I want to see the space ships!"

III. Give Me A Break! | Temba Hotel

It's been such a stupidly long day. The fountain. The empty hangar. The diner she was at earlier and had met people at. And now this.

"Why?" Robin asks as she looks at the stairs. They're taller than they should be. She looks from them to the bicycle she had at her side. It was bad enough that she was going to have to go up them. But she was tired and upset and confused and now she had to carry this thing up them too? "What sort of hotel doesn't have rooms on the bottom floor? This is the worst design!"

Heading down the stairs, Eddie's all ready lighting up. He doesn't know what everyone has against smoking in doors, but he's doing his best to comply when he can. The stairwell feels like a gray area. Probably fine. He hears that frustrated tone carry up and pauses, brow scrunching. There is no way.

He jogs a little further down and bends his head to peer at the new arrival.

"Buckley??"

Eddie. Eddie. He's alive.

Okay, you know what? Miserable day, frustrating to boot, but she's absolutely dropping her bike (what even are kickstands) and running up the too tall stairs toward Eddie.

"It's you. Oh hell it's you!"

Despite never having the opportunity to really get close enough to be affectionate to one another, Eddie's arms open up automatically, face splitting into a grin at another familiar face.

"Is that a good 'oh hell' or a bad one?" he asks with a warm chuckle.

Hey, losing someone the way they had definitely improved chances of physical affection from Robin, who was so not big on all of that stuff. She pulls him into a hug from a lower step, then rethinks it, lets him go, and takes a higher step to hug him again.

"You're a complete and total idiot," she says, trying to hide how tight her voice is. "I'm so mad at you."

Because with him right there in front of her, she can be made rather than grief stricken.

It confirms pretty well without asking when she's from, and Eddie hugs her back with an apologetic wince.

"I mean, we all ready knew I was an idiot, it really shouldn't be such a surprise," he says, trying to make light.

"Don't you try and be funny," she grumps, smacking his arm just a little. "You're not allowed to be funny when I'm mad at you."

And maybe possibly crying. Just a little. You wouldn't even notice it. Don't notice it.

He snickers softly, faux wincing and rubbing at his arm. "Heeey, oww," he whines, but his expression softens at the thing he definitely doesn't notice. Nope. Nothing to see.

"...Gonna have the whole crew here before long."

"Oh god, now I'm imagining Hopper here and that's a whole thing that I think we're all very happy without," she says, trying to control her voice as she lets him go. Okay. She's functioning.

"You really hurt Dustin you know. And Steve. Nancy. And Mike seemed sorta broken when he learned about it too, even with all of his other Mike-ness."

Having no idea the former Chief of Police is still alive, Eddie's not sure why exactly he's someone her mind goes to. "Yeah, I think I can do without more cops for a while."

He shifts awkwardly, and takes a drag of his cigarette to try and mask the guilt that brings front and center. "...I know. It wasn't my goal, obviously, but, uh- so what, Sinclair didn't have any tears to shed for me? He still sour about that game of his?"

Luckily for Robin, however, someone will soon come to the rescue. That someone will arrive in the form of a short pointy-eared teenager gliding in on a paraglider, wearing an outfit that is very far from what Robin is probably used seeing on teenage boys. It's a distinctively feminine outfit, with what is essentially a small midriff-baring crop top with breezy arm-sleeves.

He lands right in the fountain, not caring at all about getting his feet wet. Reaches into the water, and grabs the bicycle. Since his hands are still dry, Link has no problem at all pulling it out of the water.

Okay, it's not every day that she gets rescued from... Well, anything. And now here is this person who is just reaching into the water and hauling her bike out and seeming completely unbothered by it all.

"Um, nice clothes," she says before climbing out of the water. "Thanks for the help. Did you seriously just hang glide down here?"

"Thank you," Link says, brightening a little. He does like his Gerudo Outfit. It's nice, being pretty.

He sets her bike down just outside the fountain.

"Nope," he says, impish, in response to her question. Despite the fact that it is, quite blatantly, a complete and obvious lie.

Robin sheds her coat and starts trying to wring her coat out some. And can't help the chuckle at his denial.

"Ah. So that was you just magically swooping down to help the damsel on wings of light or something?"

"Yup," Link says. He will commit to the bit.

But he is also curious about the bike. It's not like anything he's seen before - but with those two wheels, and that seat, he can make a good guess about what it's for.

"You ride this?" he says, curious.

"No. I carry it on my shoulders for weight training," she says, unable to resist the snark. Of course she did. It's a bicycle.

Alas, as it turns out Link has never seen a bicycle before.

Ignoring her snark, Link crouches down beside the bike. Spins one wheel with his hand. “What’s it called?”

Wait, what? Robin looks so confused.

"I was being sarcastic," she says, because she can't let him just... do that. "It's a bicycle. You definitely ride it."

"Oh, I guess they haven't brought them back yet."

A young girl stands at the doorway of the hangar, looking a little disappointed herself. She breathes out a sigh before giving a shrug, her expression picking up in a faint smile.

"The Agrii took them some time ago but they said they'd return them once they were done. And then maybe we'll finally get to see them in person!"

"The Agrii are the ones that took us, right?"

Yeah, that makes sense. But the other part, that makes her excited. She can't help the small smile.

"We get to meet aliens, huh?"

The girl nods.

"That's right. They've only contacted us through the network, so it'll be nice to actually get the chance to talk with them."

She tilts her head then. "Have you not met other aliens before?"

[work_wife]

Why would she have met other aliens? This girl has? She's clearly human though.

"They don't exactly come to Hawkins, Indiana. This is the first time I've had their existence confirmed."

[small_compromise]

It's still a bit strange to hear, but she supposes there are some planets out there yet that haven't had the means to connect through space travel. Omega nods in understanding.

"I've never heard of this Indiana place. But I've lived around Kaminoans all my life, on their planet, Kamino. It's stranger for me being around so little other species, here."

Yeah, and in the 80s, that's definitely Earth.

"It's in America? It's one of the states. Where's Kaminoan?"

Yeah, she's really confused here.

"I've never heard of it," Omega admits with a small frown. Most of the people she's spoken to have only referred to their home of origin by planet, if anything.

"Kamino, it's a planet covered entirely by an ocean."

A planet. Covered entirely by an ocean.

"Earth isn't completely covered by oceans, but we have a lot."
