Ash's Room
WHO: Ash, Pikachu and you!
WHERE: Ash's room - sorta
WHAT: Calibrations
WHEN: June-July 10th
WARNINGS: Oh you know, child death, violence, child endangerment...
The door to Ash's room leads into, well, Ash's room almost exactly as it is laid out back home. It looks mostly like a ten year old's room should except it's far too clean and it gives the feeling like the owner of this room is away from it for long periods at a time.
The Dresser is adorned with various trophies, certificates and awards. The diploma he received for completing Professor Rowan's Summer School course, two soothe bells( CW: animal/pokemon abuse ) he won at the Heart Home City Tag battle competition, There's a plaque bearing the words 'Indigo League top Sixteen' another that says 'Battle Frontier with gold little pins pressed into it, Half a Ribbon, several small cases containing pins of various colors and sizes, a gold trophy sporting a gold ball with wings attached to it, another trophy that looks like a golden tower, and what looks like a home made medal(CW: torture) with '2nd' written on it.
Each one connects and activates a very specific memory related to the item. There's a loft bed off to the side and the sheets are patterned with little red and white balls. There's an odd bear like plush somewhere across from the loft bed and small television sitting on top a tv stand, the remote( CW: Child Death) resting on top of it. Above the Loft bed is a shelf littered with various things, most notable though is a broken red and white ball that looks like it might be an alarm clock.
On the desk attached to the bed there are three clear glass orbs(Child death, Drowning). One will glow blue when picked, one will glow Orange and the last will glow yellow. Picking up any of the three will spark the same memory. There are a pair of gloves (CW: Death) draped over the chair tucked into the desk, and a model of something that looks a lot like the Eifel Tower( CW:Child endangerment, Near death experience ). Also sitting atop the desk is a small stone(CW: very angry birds, bike theft Near Death Experience) that looks a little out of place.
There a few bat like creatures dangling in a corner of the room and among them is an outlier- an odd dragon-like creature or more pterodactyl like creature(CW: Near Death experience, carnivorous animals/Pokemon) dangles in the center and a small orange and yellow, bat like creature( CW: child death, altitude sickness ) with a V crest on its head hangs off to the side.
towards the ceiling are very strange looking creatures that look like letters flittering and orbiting around each other. There are only about five but it's enough the real Ash is looking a little uncertainly at them. "Unown." He breathes, watching him closely as they swirl and dance about his ceiling. "What are they doing here?"
Pikachu is watching them as well but his ears twitch as he hears the door open and turns to face their visitor.

And there's lots to look at here. So many curious little objects and trinkets and other things. Link wants to look at them all - but before he inspects them properly, he looks up.
Hylian script isn't anything like the alphabet these creatures represent - so while Link notes the odd shapes, he doesn't connect them to being writing as such. "What are they?"
no subject
"They're called Unown." He explains. "They're a really powerful psychic-type Pokemon."
"Pikapika." Pikachu agrees with a small nod. He also would like to know what they're doing here.
"Just one or two's not dangerous but three more have the power to distort reality." A power he's witnessed more than a few times.

"Unown, the Symbol Pokémon. Unown use telepathy to communicate with each other. Many different shapes of Unown have been discovered." The mechanical voice explains.
"They're supposed to be really rare but Pikachu and I have run into the Unown a few times now, right buddy?" Ash asks Pikachu who nods, attention back on the Unown and squinting suspiciously.
no subject
He looks around the room. It doesn't feel like reality has been altered. But...maybe just looking wouldn't be enough to tell?
He reaches out for one of the objects nearest to him - a gold trophy. Does it feel real?
no subject
Picking up the Orange League trophy cause the Unown to become agitated as they start to twirl and twist as reality begins to distort and the sound of thousands of cheering fans comes flooding in as the scene begins to change and something like a sports field takes over Ash’s room, stretching the floor and the walls falling away. The stadium is packed with cheering. There's a giant score board off to the side showing an image of Ash, his opponent, and ten darkened pictures of odd creature. A picture of Pikachu is lit up as is a picture of a bizarre dragon-like creature.
Out on the field is a yellow-orange dragon stands patiently, watching Ash and Pikachu from afar while man with dark hair wearing tight dark red pants stands behind the creature.
"I guess it's up to you and me now, Pikachu." He tells his partner.
"Pika." Pikachu nods, sparks coming from his cheeks before he runs out to the field.
"Oh, I hope Ash knows what he's doing..." A young girl voices from a bench nearby, the small egg shaped creature in her arms trilling happily like an infant might.
"The Challenger's final Pokemon is Pikachu!" A voice booms out, commentating the battle. "Has it recharged its batteries from that battle with Ditto or is it running too low on power to defeat Dragonite?"
"Let's win it, Pikachu!" Ash calls out.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu responds with enthusiasm.
"Dragonite, let's go!" Ash's opponent cries.
"Pikachu, use your agility!" Ash commands. Pikachu gives a noise to affirm and starts to move faster, dashing this way and that, moving much too fast for a normal person to keep up with.
"Dragonite! Stop that Pikachu!" The man calls out. Dragonite roars and whips it's tail up, colliding with Pikachu and sending him flying.
"Whoa! Just a flick of its tail and Dragonite send Pikachu Skyward!" the MC announces as Pikachu crashes into the dirt in front of Ash.
"Pikachu!" Ash says in concern. Pikachu sits up and shakes his head. "Pikachu, I know you can do it!" Ash encourages.
"Hyper beam!" The opponent calls out. Ash and Pikachu look up at Dragonite who looks like they're preparing to launch some kind of powerful attack at the wan red dots of light seem to be forming near Dragonite's mouth."

There's a few things that Link is immediately struck by. The fact that the battling animals keep inexplicably waiting for orders before doing anything. The fact that they wait for the other creature to finish what they're doing, before responding in kind.
The fact that this still, most definitely looks like violence. And it is apparently...entertainment? For all of these people watching?
As they emerge from the memory, Link takes a moment to just blink.
"...Your battles are weird."
no subject
"Huh?" Ash shakes his head to clear it. "weird?" He blinks in confusion. To him, it was just normal. He grew up around Pokemon Battles - a lot of things have changed in that time, new discoveries are being made all the time but battles have pretty much stayed the same.
"They're a lot of fun, and the Pokemon usually really love battling in some form." Ash explains.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu agrees.
"Although, I guess it's one thing to watch a Pokemon battle. I'd let you borrow one of mine but they're all back at Professor Oaks." Which wouldn't be much of an issue if they were actually in Pallet town.
no subject
Then he looks back to Ash. And Pikachu, the one who was actually fighting. "You kept waiting." Waiting for orders, waiting for his opponent to complete their attacks.
no subject
"Pi?" Pikachu's ears twitch and he looks surprised at the statement before looking at Ash.
"Well of course. Those are the rules in a competition battle- it's not like we were actually in danger." The Pokemon Trainer explains. "Like I said before, Pokemon battles aren't the same as fighting."
no subject
Even in a friendly spar - something meant for practice, not as a real life-and-death battle - you didn't just sit and wait your turn. There was a rhythm to battle. But it wasn't something that followed a steady, consistent beat.
no subject
"Man, it feels like it's been forever since we won the Orange League." Ash comments. "By comparison that was almost the beginning of our journey."
no subject
"How long?" He asks, as he starts to idly look around the room again. He's attention is still focused on the trophies and medals, but this time it's the home made medal that he reaches out to touch.

"Good day," he notes as he looks around, his eyes taking in everything. At first they are drawn toward the creatures floating in the air, but then...
One cannot expect an architect to look around a room with some model of a great piece of architectural work and not be intrigued by it. Sorry pokemon, Reeve's focused on that little model.
"What's this?"
no subject
"Oh, that's miniature model of Prism Tower-the Lumiose City Gym. My friend Clemont is the Gym Leader there." He says brightly. "He's really tough."
"Pika." Pikachu agrees with a nod and then turns his attention back to the Unown since Ash is distracted and the Unown can be very dangerous and unpredictable.

The moment Reeve picks up the model the Unown overhead react. Pikachu looks up in alarm as the odd looking letters begin to move in the opposite direction, circling and orbiting each other with an unnerving glow and an almost eerie chant of "Unoooown... Unooown...."
The floor beneath them begins to glow and the room shifts, a tall tower materializes from the ground beneath and the walls of the room fall away to reveal the pink and orange that can only come from sunset.
There's a crowd down below of concerned on lookers and news crews. Up on the ledge close to the top of the tower is an odd, dragon-like creature with odd coloring is struggling to get what looks like a painful red band off its neck.
Ash comes up from a ladder just out of view and starts to carefully approach the distressed creature as it flails, trying to pull the horrible collar off with arms that are just not designed to bend the right way.
"Hey, Garchomp..." Ash addresses the creature. It turns red eyes on the human child approaching it and looks ready to attack.
It does attack, sending what seems to be a dangerous purple blast directly at Ash, Pikachu and an odd blue frog who all have to quickly jump out of the way, Ash moving more towards the wall of the tower.
"Whoa!" Ash breaths as the Dark Pulse rips through the solid concrete of the Prism Tower, catches a some to the electric wiring and causes an explosion. Somehow, Ash and the others are okay. The pokemon trainer still trying to approach the rampaging pokemon but keeping his hand close to the wall-maybe to make sure he doesn't move too far away from it- it is quite a long ways to fall, after all.

“Please Garchomp, you’ve gotta calm down.” Ash pleads.
“Fro!” The blue frog says.
“PiKachu” Pikachu says in concern. Garchomp just eyes them menacingly, growling with a clear message to back off. A message that Ash isn’t paying attention to because he continues to move closer and closer to it.
“I’m gonna get closer now, okay?” He tells it. It growls in warning but Ash takes a careful step closer. When he gets too close it lets out a distressed growl and flies up the level above.
“Garchomp!” Ash cries out worriedly. “Come back!” He looks around, quickly spotting a service ladder and rushing over, climbing up. The scene shifts and suddenly the scene is at the top of Prism Tower.
Up on top, Garchomp releases a pinkish beam of light into the air, making it impossible for the news copters to get closer. It doesn’t take long before the young pokemon trainer is pulling himself up to the very top of the tower and slowly getting to his feet. He looks a little wobbly, but still determined. The blue frog and Pikachu on either side of him look every bit as determined as he is.
“I’m here to help, Garchomp.” He says sincerely. Garchomp must not believe him though as its eyes flash dangerously and it fires another devastating dark pulse towards the boy who once again, dives out of the way just in time.
Pikachu hops in front of Ash on all fours and tail sticking up as he sizes up his opponent. “Pikaaa-” Sparks start to emit from Pikachu as he prepares to launch a thunderbolt at the rampaging Pokémon.
“No, Pikachu!” Ash cries out and Pikachu stops, the electricity fizzling out.
“Pika?” He asks in confusion. Ash doesn’t bother to look over at Pikachu as he’s still carefully watching the other pokemon. “I don’t want you to attack Garchomp.” He says seriously.

But of course children were often that much more idealistic than adults.

“Pikachu?” Pikachu asks just before Garchomp aims another attack their way and Ash, Pikachu, and the blue frog have to jump back to avoid getting hit. Ash uses a hand to steady himself and gets back up on his feet, eyes still locked on Garchomp.
“Garchomp, can you hear me?” Ash asks, still determined to get closer. “I know it hurts. You’re in a lot of pain.”
“Piika.” Pikachu says worriedly, whether or not he's concerned for Ash or for Garchomp is not really clear, perhaps it's a mix of both leaning more heavily on Ash's side.
“Fro…” the little blue frog says sadly.
“We just want to help you.” Ash insist, taking careful steps closer. “Please, let me get that collar off so we can go back down..”
“Gar…” Garchomp continues to growl, watching Ash with uncertainty but it does seem like his words are getting through.
“Gar…” It whimpers as the red, glowing collar sparks against its skin.
“Please? So what do you say?” Ash prompts his tone far too serious for a ten year old boy but also full of optimism that could only come from him.
“Gaaar…” Garchomp whimpers and Ash moves a little closer. It seems like maybe Garchomp will let him approach now. Briefly, its eyes shift from glowing red to their normal yellow but another spark from the glowing collar and they go back to red again.
Garchomp lets out a howl of pain and tries to get at the collar, taking a few steps backwards and getting precariously close to the edge.

“Wait! Garchomp, look out!” Ash cries out in horror.
“Froakie, Froak!” The little blue frog hops up pulls some sticky looking bubbles from its back and throws them at Garchomp’s feet.
“Good thinking, Froakie!” Ash praises when it seems that Froakie’s quick thinking stopped Garchomp from falling over the edge.
“Gar…” Garchomp says as it desperately tries to get the collar off.
“We’ve gotta destroy that collar.” Ash says to Piakchu before he moves quickly over to Garchomp, no longer worried about scaring it off. Pikachu makes a noise of agreement and follows after.
Ash leaps up, grabbing onto the struggling garchomp to try and hold it steady-a difficult task when it’s several feet taller than him and his legs are dangling off the ground. “Garchomp, hang on and I’ll get this thing off you!” He promises. Garchomp lets out another dark pulse but misses Ash wildly due to the angle. “Pikachu! Use Iron tail on the collar!”
“Pika!” Pikachu affirms. Before leaping up, hardening his tail and slamming it against the red, sparking collar. “Chupika!”
It splits and Ash and Garchomp teeter dangerously for a moment but the Pokemon’s eyes turn back to yellow and it leans in towards the tower, falling to its knees in exhaustion. Ash finally lets go of it, his feet back on the solid floor.
“Are you okay?” Ash asks it as it pants, trying to catch its breath.
“Pika!” Pikachu cries out happily since it seems everyone is okay.
“That must have hurt.” Ash says soothingly to Garchomp. “Help’s on the way, don’t worry.” He assures.
“Gar…” Garchomp looks at him sadly.
“Pi-Pika?” Piakchu’s sprint towards Ash is cut short as the ground beneath him crumbles and Pikachu is pitched off the side of the tower.

"Don't," he pleads.
no subject
“Pikachu!!” He doesn’t even think twice before he rushes to the edge and, probaby much Reeve's horror, jumps. Except, he doesn't just jump. He launched himself directly off the top of the tower, diving headfirst towards the yellow mouse.
They both plummet downwards but Ash manages to grab hold of Pikachu, holding him tightly in his arms as the two brace for the worst.
At the very last second a streak of red shoots across the horizon and catches Ash and Pikachu in midair before heading back to the ground. The world goes bright a moment and suddenly the four walls of Ash’s bedroom enclose the space and the Unown on the ceiling stop glowing, bringing everything back to the same setting as before.
“That was weird…” Ash says, staring up at them in concern and clearly unphased by the fact he had very nearly fallen to his death.
