[Eddie rubs his face with an exasperated look to start, taking a breath to try and calm himself and offering a stiff smile.]

Hey- uh...so since getting literally anything out of our hosts is pretty much impossible- [Whoop, wee bit tense there, draw it back.] -I uh...well I've been working on this.

[He holds up a picture to the camera of a stamp he's made on a scrap of paper.]

Figure not everyone uses their replicator...allotments or whatever, and my usual method of making money isn't going to work here, so- if anyone needs shit done or whatever...? Apparently I'm good at offering my body up to medical science these days? Or uh- I dunno, I can play delivery boy, or...whatever you need.

[He grins then, and adds-]

I'll be sure to have some of these available when I play at the Deep End if anyone's looking to tip.

[Eddie is definitely the only person that can get by with calling her Red. Maybe because it genuinely feels like a nickname and not a form of mocking. She doesn't want to punch him over it.]

I'm definitely a fan of you avoiding trouble.

[Mostly because...well. She's not sure how much help she'd be if he were to get into some kind of trouble here. They don't have the others here to help figure that sort of shit out.]

[It helps that most everyone gets some kind of nickname from him. And Max'll probably float through a few different ones, but for now he's fond of Red.]

Hey, me too. Honestly, the both of us need a fucking vacation.

[He puts on a sort of pout, but wavers on it, having seen at least some of why Max may be less than thrilled at the notion from living across the street from them.]

...This place does seem to hate weed. Which is weird, because they have no problem with these- [He pulls out a cigarette from above his ear and holds it up pointedly.]

No kidding. The ocean sounds pretty good right now.

[Not that it's possible here...]

Maybe it just...doesn't exist here?

Oh-!

[Eddie abruptly claps and points excitedly at the camera.]

There is a beach! I dunno if it's a lake or ocean or what, but there's water and weird little lobster things.

[He sighs and nods. It seems like it.]

It's looking that way.

Wait, really? [Her eyes widen a little, the way they do when she's genuinely excited about something, like when he'd taken her to see the spaceships.]

Can you -- [Take me there? Show me?] - tell me where? I want to see it.

I'll take you there. We can grab something from the diner, make a day of it. It's a bit of a hike, but I figured being from Cali you might like that.

Or uh...you know, if you'd rather go alone, I can point you in the right direction.

[She smiles at that, bright and genuine.]

No, I'd like that. If you showed me.

You know- I've never actually seen the ocean in person. Back home at least, if this is an ocean. Is it as nice as they say?

God. Yeah. Yeah, it's amazing. There's nothing like it.

You miss it? Think you'll go back to Cali when all this is over and you can drive off into the sunset?

Yeah, I miss it.

[She drops her gaze, considering that. Honestly, she's not sure she's going to live long enough to even have that option, but she doesn't say that.]

I don't know. Maybe if El is still there. What about you? Is that what you're thinking of doing after graduation? Heading off into the sunset somewhere not in Hawkins?

Heh, not so sure I'll be graduating anymore. You know...with the whole wanted for murder thing. [He covers with a smirk, like it's all a big joke.] But uh... yeah, I guess that was always the plan? I never really-...I talked about it a lot, but I never really planned, you know? Kinda never really let myself believe I was getting out of that school.

Guess if we get outta this, the decision's kinda made for me, huh? Wouldn't be able to stay in Hawkins after everything...

[She's quiet for a moment, but then she shakes her head.]

You won't have to. Seriously, if there's -- one thing I'm sure about it's that they'll find a way to clear your name. [She believes that whole-heartedly. Her friends -- likely Nancy or possibly Dustin, will come up with a plan to take care of that.]

But I get wanting to get out of a place that has pretty shitty memories.

[It probably doesn't matter. He's not getting out of there, and the whole town is only ever going to remember him as a freak and a murderer. But he appreciates how sure Max sounds and offers a small smile.]

You think?

[His smile grows and he gives a half shrug.]

...Not all bad.

I know.

[But that gives her pause, too, and she figures he's thinking about his uncle, and his Hellfire Club.]

I guess it's never really all or nothing.

Oh, you know now?

[Eddie flashes a teasing look and grins.]

God, we sound like some kinda after school shit or something.

Yep. I know stuff.

[She smirks at him.]

Ew. Gross.
