Video | Featuring Pikachu!
[ Ash is using the communicator today - good for him. Or he is, at the moment. He's set the device up so he can have two free hands, Pikachu is sitting comfortably in his lap enjoying a few good pets and making happy little 'chaa' noises. ]
I don't think I've met everyone yet so, I'm Ash and this is my buddy Pikachu. [ He gently lifts Pikachu up to show the camera. ]
Pikachu! [ The little mouse greets with a small wave of his hand, there are tiny sparks emanating from his red cheeks. Ash holds him close, wrapping securely around his middle but is careful not to touch his cheeks. ]
The thing with Pikachu is-he's not really an animal like you guys seem to be used to-he's a Pokémon so he can learn special attacks based off his type-which is electric.
What I'm getting at is- because he's an electric type he can build up and store electricity in his cheeks. [ He indicates to the sparking red cheeks without touching them. ] But if he can't release the extra electricity then he can get really sick.
Pikachu's okay now but I need to know if there's somewhere or someway he can safely let loose some electricity. We usually just challenge other trainers to a battle but since that's not really an option [ Pikachu's ears droop in disappointment ] And there's no Pokémon Center here, I thought we should ask.
If you see us around, feel free to say hi. We love making new friends but Pikachu can be a little wary of new people sometimes. If you pull on his tail or cheeks he might try to bite but more than likely you'll be in a for a shock.

So you're saying you have a living capacitor
And you're struggling to find uses for that?
no subject
[ You'll have to excuse him, he's ten and from a small town so vocabulary is not his strong suit. ]
no subject
It's a device used to store electric charge.
[He's midway through typing out their common materials and construction before, again, reminding himself that he's talking to a ten-year-old, and deleting the entire thing in exasperation.]
They're basically exactly what your creature can do in inorganic form.
Including failing if they're overloaded, actually.

Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to create chargers that hook up to Temba's electrical grid?
No, of course you don't.
If I made a battery bank for Pikachu to periodically charge instead, we could use that for non-Agra-10 electronics and skip half of the bullshit power conversions that I have to do otherwise.
no subject
If its ok with Pikachu, I dont see the harm in that.

It looks like he's already near or at capacity, so I'll rush a prototype that he can at least use to bleed off excess charge.
I'll likely have to make changes to the design anyway based on his output parameters.
I can use the prototype to make those measurements, too.
Give me a week.

[And York does not look impressed by this.]
Why don't you just get a lightning rod to have him zap to drain the excess? or some other metal?
Also keep him the fuck away from me. I'm not going to let my death be caused by a rodent.
What do you mean!? Pikachu would never hurt anyone!
Pika! [ Pikachu responds with same level of offense ]
no subject
And I was serious about the lightning rod suggestion. Install one near or on wherever you're staying and have him use that.
no subject
You know, always assuming someone's going to hurt you isn't going make any friends. [ He says casually, ignoring the concerned look Pikachu is giving him. ]
Where can I get a lightening rod?
no subject
[He takes a moment.]
Try the forge or something. Tony there might be able to make you one.

But thanks for the tip, I'll look into it.

I really don't want anyone to get hurt but I gotta do something fast. You sure you don't mind? A Pokémon's power is way different when in a battle versus just showing off their attacks.
If I minded then I would not be offering. In any case, I look forward to a challenge.
Okay, I see your point. Pikachu and I will be happy to battle you!
Pika!
There is adequate space south of the hangar, in the northeastern side of the city. I shall meet you there.
[Video] -> [ Action ]
[ Ash gets there... eventually. He's not the best at navigation so he's a little late when he turns up and looks like he might have been recently running. ]
Sorry I'm late!
[ He pants a minute and Pikachu hops off his shoulder on all fours, looking ready for a battle.

Metal is a conductor of electricity, touching a metal surface will transfer Pikachu's electricity effortlessly. Another conductor is water.
I am too new to make an educated suggestion, but if there happens to be a lake or sea full of edible fish, Pikachu could let out an electric shock and electrocute them. It would be more humane and fast than traditional fishing methods and it would help with hunting for food.
text
I cant do that!! We dont want to hurt anyone!
[ He's so glad Pikachu can't read although he's sure that Pikachu will pick up on how distressed he is and quickly tells his Pokemon not to worry about it. ]
Re: text
[As much as humans have given him grief, Markus understands that they are animals too and they need to eat. He would be saddened to hurt animals but he understands.]

I dont get what your asking.
