March catch-all
WHO: Link and you!
WHERE: Temba (in the Agriculture building, Spidersilk factory, and all over the shopping and transportation district)
WHAT: Link gets his expertise, collects spidersilk, looks for a book, and tries to figure out how to climb with a paraglider much bigger than he's used to
WHEN: Throughout March
WARNINGS: None yet!
I. Agricultural datapoint | Yellow 01 (Agriculture Building)
After Lark mentioned the agricultural datapoint - and the fact that it would let him know how to make things like the anti-spider elixir - it had taken Link approximately half a second to decide that he wanted it.
So he'd made his way to the Agriculture Building. Which was fascinating on it's own - there were plants, and they were growing inside!. But then he found the floaty light and touched it - and suddenly he knew what all of the plants were.
Which meant, of course, that Link then had to run up and down through the entire building, looking at everything. And as he looked at the plants, he would just know how to cook them. Which of course meant he had to take some of them, already making plans for all of the dishes he could make...
II. Collecting spidersilk | Orange 20 (Factory)
Put on the salve. Don't kill the spiders. Get their silk.
This was the task Link was here for, ready to take on the spiders. Or not take on, since Lark had been very insistent about not killing them. Just in case, though, Link had found a broken-off piece of door, which was now serving as makeshift shield.
He also has four small dead mammals, there as gifts to the spiders. A bit strange, Link thought, to be giving gifts to spiders. But Lark seemed to think it was a good idea.
Anyone passing by at this time might spot Link going in - or spot him coming out. Over the next few hours, he'll come in out out repeatedly to add to a growing pile of spidersilk he's building just outside the factory door.
III. Searching for the book | Pink (Shopping and Transportation district)
Find a red book, with a star. One that apparently had some kind of enchantment or curse, if you read it.
Tony said it was somewhere between the Hangar and the Train station. It took him a little while to figure out what a 'train station' was. But eventually he figured it out. And now he's looking everywhere between the two.
And everywhere means everywhere. He looks under every rock. In every bush. Every rabbit or rabbit-like-creature hole. And then when he's done that, and still found nothing, he starts looking through all of the nearby buildings. The little shops, some still standing and some not. The really big shop - which Link finds a bit strange, because how could anyone have a shop that big?
Ooh, and a tunnel. That's interesting. For a while Link gets distracted by exploring that, though eventually there's a dead end with a big metal door that he can't get through. Maybe somewhere else there's a hidden key, that will open it up...
IV. Who made this paraglider so big? | Any tall building in Temba
So Link has a paraglider now. Tony said Link could take it, so he did. Only problem is, it's...not really the kind of paraglider Link was expecting.
Namely, it's huge. Far, far bigger than Link's own paraglider, which doesn't really extend all that far beyond the width of Link's hands. Which means Link now has a problem.
How in Hylia's name is he supposed to climb with it?
So he tries to fold the massive paraglider up, best as he can. He manages to fold it up so the wings aren't outstretched, but it still isn't small. Then ties the whole thing to his back, which doesn't work very well because the thing is still twice as long as Link is tall.
Then with this very much not ideal solution in place, he finds a large building and...tries to climb.
It looks very, very awkward.
V. Wildcard!
[[OOC: Choose your own adventure! Let me know if you'd like to set up anything not covered by the above]]
VI. BONUS aka Obelisk ping pong
The obelisks were strange. And unsettling. Not least because when curiosity brought Link closer to them, he soon realised that the Sword that Seals the Darkness was glowing.
The Sword, which Link knew only shone with a bright blue light in the presence of evil, and dark forces.
Link didn't know what these obelisks were - but obviously they were bad news. Except as he tried to move even closer - close enough to swing the Sword and strike the obelisk down - he just...couldn't. Some invisible force seemed to push him back, no matter how hard he tried.
Okay. Stop a moment. Try to find another solution. He can't get close. But that doesn't mean he can't attack from afar...
Eyes narrowed, he focused on the obelisk. Draws back the Sword. And swings, releasing forth a spinning beam of blue light that hurls towards the obelisk.
Which then hits the obelisk, and ricochets back.

It doesn't take him long to arrive, or to see what was going on and sigh.
"What are you doing?" the man called out to the figure carrying... Poe's paraglider. Ah, that was a flare of pain in his heart he wasn't expecting today.
no subject
He does not find a better position for it.
"Trying to climb," he replies to the man.
no subject
"Yes, that much was abundantly clear. Why?"
no subject
"Need to figure out how to climb with this," Link says, as he shifts the paraglider around, again, having still not found a good way to position it.
He misses his own paraglider.
no subject
"Why climb? This seems dangerous, doesn't it?"
no subject
Link would have thought this point to be obvious.
no subject
"Yes, but why?"

I.
But they don't go... completely away. Lerith cautiously comes out of his hiding spot to try and find the source of it. It couldn't be Omega, the footsteps were too heavy and too long for someone of her stature. Who he finds is a stranger.
Keeping his distance, Lerith unstraps his staff from his back and holds it upright. He then taps it carefully on the floor for attention. Hopefully... that won't give this newcomer too much of a spook.
no subject
"...Hi," he says, looking expectantly at the stranger. And hey, it's someone with normal ears for once.
Maybe the man needs help with something?
no subject
The comm comes out for Lerith to type on quickly before Jon's voice speaks the message out.
'You are new to the city? I have not met another elf here. Are you from Thedas?' Better to ask first than assume the newcomer was.
no subject
"Yes," Link says, nodding. He is new. The other questions, however, prompt a faint furrowing of Link's eyebrows. "...What's an elf?" And why did he think Link was one?
no subject
He looks confused at the question, then points to his own pointed ear. The comm gets shoved away so his hands can make pinching and pulling out motions over his ears without touching them. Making the sign for elf for the stranger.
The comm comes back out. 'Elf. Pointed ears, like we have in Thedas. Humans have round ears. I guess that means you are not from Thedas then. I am Lerith.'
no subject
Link makes a soft noise of acknowledgement. "Like Hylians." Maybe they were even the same, just known by different names?
"Link. From Hyrule," he adds. Though since Link has never heard of Thedas, he suspects Lerith may not know anything of Hyrule either.

“Look out!” he exclaims as he ducks out of the way.
no subject
A shield parry would make more sense, but it's the Sword Link swings. It strikes the spinning beam of energy - sending it back towards the obelisk.
At which point, it ricochets again.
no subject

...before dodging out of the way. The Sword's beam flies past him, hitting a nearby tree instead.
no subject
"What are these things?! Doesn't anyone know?!"
no subject
He looks down at the Sword in his hand. This is the first time it's glowed since he came here. He supposed it was too much to hope that this place would be free of these kinds of forces.
"They're evil," he says, flatly.

Only to see something like blue light coming for him. He moves, completely on instinct, easily sidestepping and letting his eyes cast about as if searching for something.
"Billy?" he called out. "Not into playing light tag thanks."
no subject
No elixir of Link's ever made him that fast. (Though there was, perhaps, that thing that happened in the middle of battle at certain times, where everything else seemed to slow...)
"Not Billy," Link says - before making another swing at the obelisk. Maybe if he tries flinging the beam of light at an angle?
...Nope, still ricochets back.
no subject
"Okay, another elf that..."
Shit, he has to dodge again because apparently his last dodge had put him in line for that.
"Can you NOT sword magic at an apparent mirror?"
no subject
"Trying to destroy it," he explains. He looks at it, eyes narrowed as he tries to figure out what to try next. He can't get close. And he can't use any Remote Bombs...
