So hey, here's a nice video posted to the network by a woman in a labcoat, clearly in one of the rooms of the hospital, sitting in a chair and with all those lovely background noises of hospital equipment.

Good afternoon all. I have at this point only been able to meet a small number of you, but I feel it is important to have the word out as soon as possible given what I have learned. So here it is, on this forum thing.

My name is Tae Takemi, and I'm your new primary care physician.

[Actually, she has to stop and smirk at that fact, because yes, that's a weird thing to declare herself for an entire community, but it's not like they have any other choices.]

While I doubt people always look into the credentials for their new GPs, I'm content to provide some here. I graduated third in my year at the University of Tokyo, and while my specializations are in medical research and compounding Pharmaceuticals, I have spent the last while as a GP in the Yongen-Jaya district of Tokyo. My hand compounded drugs have been sold at multiple hospitals around the city.

All of this is to say I'm a highly trained and qualified medical professional, and I've been told I'm the first dedicated doctor that you've had. Possibly in years. Which means you're all due for check-ups. I would expect to see people in for initial consultations and wellness exams over the next month, and I will be asking for medical history.

[With that she sighs and shakes her head.]

Listen, I know this isn't ideal for anyone, but what it comes down to is that I'm now responsible for your health, so anything you can do to make that easier on us both will be appreciated. My bedside manner isn't always the best, but I'm what you've got right now. I will of course be happy to respect those people who wish to continue to see the medics you've had until this point, but I will also be seeking to work with them to ensure people receive the best medical care we can.

Payment will be accepted in the form of medical supplies. This is accepted as things noted to be medicinally useful from the greenhouses as well as written instructions on what they are used for and how to prepare them, or in the form of one of your replicator rations so that I can replicate other needed items. If you are non-human, then payment is expected in the form of me picking your brain for anything I can glean about your biology to better treat you.

Or payment can be running errands because I'll take any excuse not to walk across these ruins to pick up lunch. And if you're one of those people with this 'communications' or 'engineering' specalizations, well, we'll talk. I've got some things I need set up.

Finally, in any emergency situation, please reach out to my comm directly. Any hour acceptable, just make sure it's a legit emergency.

[She doesn't seem to have a good way to end this, so she just turns off the video, posts the message to the network, and waits for any comments or visitors. What else can a woman do?]

[Do they? She looks curiously at that. Usually she's getting something out of what she's doing.]

I see. That's going to be an adjustment. Even the nice old lady who gave me apples still paid some of her bill in common yen.

Well, if it was back home it’d be different. I’m a businessman. Being here at all is a big adjustment. I wouldn’t turn down some good old-fashioned help if it’s needed. I just wouldn’t think of that as paying off a debt.

Nah, not that. I mean if there’s a sudden medical need. A while back, somebody got mauled pretty bad by a creature. We sure could have used a doctor then. There could be more incidents like that.

I'm going to need a reliable way to sterilize things...

No autoclave. Will have to do with serious boiling and perhaps alcohol and heat. Which of course is nowhere near as effective. Now I have to figure out where to set something like that up.

The one with the weird name, Ironman or something, he is making me something else. I can get by with boiling for now.

One hopes. Of course there's always going to be the risk. When you're low on cold medicine, that's when it's running through the community.
