[It took her a while of observation and consideration before her decision to do this, but really, this seems the most effective method of going about what needs to happen. So hey, here's a nice video posted to the network by a woman in a labcoat, clearly in one of the rooms of the hospital, sitting in a chair and with all those lovely background noises of hospital equipment.

So sue her, it's the ambient noise she enjoys the best when she can't have her music.]

Good afternoon all. I have at this point only been able to meet a small number of you, but I feel it is important to have the word out as soon as possible given what I have learned. So here it is, on this forum thing.

My name is Tae Takemi, and I'm your new primary care physician.

[Actually, she has to stop and smirk at that fact, because yes, that's a weird thing to declare herself for an entire community, but it's not like they have any other choices.]

While I doubt people always look into the credentials for their new GPs, I'm content to provide some here. I graduated third in my year at the University of Tokyo, and while my specializations are in medical research and compounding Pharmaceuticals, I have spent the last while as a GP in the Yongen-Jaya district of Tokyo. My hand compounded drugs have been sold at multiple hospitals around the city.

All of this is to say I'm a highly trained and qualified medical professional, and I've been told I'm the first dedicated doctor that you've had. Possibly in years. Which means you're all due for check-ups. I would expect to see people in for initial consultations and wellness exams over the next month, and I will be asking for medical history.

[With that she sighs and shakes her head.]

Listen, I know this isn't ideal for anyone, but what it comes down to is that I'm now responsible for your health, so anything you can do to make that easier on us both will be appreciated. My bedside manner isn't always the best, but I'm what you've got right now. I will of course be happy to respect those people who wish to continue to see the medics you've had until this point, but I will also be seeking to work with them to ensure people receive the best medical care we can.

Payment will be accepted in the form of medical supplies. This is accepted as things noted to be medicinally useful from the greenhouses as well as written instructions on what they are used for and how to prepare them, or in the form of one of your replicator rations so that I can replicate other needed items. If you are non-human, then payment is expected in the form of me picking your brain for anything I can glean about your biology to better treat you.

Or payment can be running errands because I'll take any excuse not to walk across these ruins to pick up lunch. And if you're one of those people with this 'communications' or 'engineering' specalizations, well, we'll talk. I've got some things I need set up.

Finally, in any emergency situation, please reach out to my comm directly. Any hour acceptable, just make sure it's a legit emergency.

[She doesn't seem to have a good way to end this, so she just turns off the video, posts the message to the network, and waits for any comments or visitors. What else can a woman do?]

Link rolls up one sleeve, and holds out his arm. She'll note a few faded battle-scars - considering that he's carrying around a large sword on his back, it's probably not hard to guess where they're from.

He watches what she does, curious about what exactly this piece of fabric that's getting wrapped around his arm will do.

Yes, the sword is alarming in its own way, but the scars go with that, so she doesn't comment too much as she wraps the cuff around his arm and then directs him through how to sit while she pumps it up.

"You seem the sort to get yourself hurt. If you need medical help, let me know right away."

Link nods. Although he agrees easily enough, in truth Link's definition of 'needing medical help' is probably going to be vastly different to Tae's own.

He's used to having to take care of himself. Out in the wild, there's no one else around who can help. So Link makes do.

As for the cuff - Link is not expecting the way that there's suddenly pressure on his arm. He tenses, sitting up dead straight as he stares at it.

"...It's squeezing me!" he exclaims.

"Yes, it is. I said I'm taking your blood pressure. Relax. What this does it measures how much force your heart is beating with."

And other things, but it's still important.

Even if she's explained it, Link still doesn't really understand the connection between his arm being squeezed, and his blood. But he forces himself to relax - though it take a moment, and he still eyes the device with a vague sense of perplexed wariness.

Once it's done and she releases the air from the system to slowly hiss out she hums to herself and takes notes. Only then does she remove the cuff and look back to him.

"So far as I can tell, you might have similar baselines to a fit young human man. That's good for me to work with."

"Okay?" Link says, though he didn't know much about what fit young human men were meant to be like. Other than something like a Hylian, but with strange ears.

He wonders what the next test will be like - will there be another strange device, to find out his temperature?

Still, it's something. She tucks it all away and takes out her thermometer. At least it's a simple one.

"This goes under your tongue, and you keep your mouth closed until it beeps. Breathe through your nose."

Link eyes this device as well. He hopes it's not going to squeeze him. That would be particularly uncomfortable in his mouth.

But he takes it all the same, and follows all of her instructions.

"Good," she says as she returns to her notes to put in her best estimates for his height and weight. "You're doing fine. It should finish quickly."

Height will clearly be on the shorter side. For weight, muscle mass will bring him up a little more than the average for someone of his height.

Meanwhile, Link is relieved to find that the thermometer does not squeeze, or do any other strange thing. It just makes a little 'beep', when it's done.

She reaches out, takes the thermometer from his mouth, and considers it. Yes, a very good result.

"And you're not feeling too hot or too cold right now?"

"No." He had warmer clothes, from Gladio. And inside here, the temperature wasn't too bad.

"Very good. I'll assume this is closer to your baseline temperature. Which means I can determine what a fever is."

She seems a bit relieved.

"At least I understand a little now."

"...Now what?" Link asks. Are they done? Or are there more tests and strange devices to be used?

"For now this will do," she says. "I don't know a lot about your species, so I'll have to see if I can find resources."

"Okay," Link says. Were there resources? Link didn't know. And he didn't know if any of them would be here, either. So far, he was the only Hylian he'd seen.

"So I can go now?" That hadn't been too hard, at least.

"If you have no prior medical conditions I need to know about, then yes, that seems fair. Oh, what did you almost die of?"

Because if it's medical history it matters.

"Guardians," Link says. He doesn't remember getting the wound that felled him - but he's quite certain of this. It was definitely Guardians.

Although Tae probably doesn't know what they are.

"They have...lasers," he says. Since that was the important part, really.

Guardians? What are those? Did he cross the cops? Well, she doesn't mind that. Until he says lasers.

"You have lasers and not thermometers?"

"Ancient Sheikah technology was abandoned," Link explains. "The Guardians were dug up."

And maybe people like Purah and Robbie had managed to rediscover things like thermometers. But if they had, they hadn't shared that knowledge with Link.

"So you were killed by ancient... robots?"

Oh god, this is already hurting her head. She'd seen pain killers earlier, right? Hopefully they were low grade.

Link nods.

Yes, that was about right.

No, don't just nod and not explain that. Don't not explain death by ancient death machine.

"And this is... common in your world?"

Link pauses, and thinks about how to respond to that. Were Guardians...common?

"During the Calamity, yes. After...only in the places where Guardians were? Most people avoid them."

And Link had too, at first. For a long time, Guardians were one of the most terrifying things he could encounter. At least until he grew strong enough to figure out how to fight back.
