Hey all!

[Are you shocked to see Tommy? Probably not. Someone said something about cooking, of course he's going to weigh in. At least the video is a rather stationary thing, his comm clearly propped up on a counter in the diner's kitchen.]

I don't know about you, but I'm in for the idea of us getting some good food in us. Maybe we can talk too when we're there? If we're going.

Anyway, gonna say that the diner is pretty stocked up and I'm happy to be prep assistant on any cooking in the Diner. Just remember Diner Rules. Don't be a dick and all of that.

And anyone cooking has to promise to help carry their own shit to the thing.

[Says the guy currently, on screen, cutting a tuber with enough speed that his hands are a literal blur.]

So, uh, food time? We could use it?

"Flour isn't something we're rolling in here," Tommy answered. "It's one of my most common replicator orders in a month. Flour and sugar, as much as I can get. Sometimes dairy too."

Most of his replicated requests are just to feed people.

[crystalmaster]

Radley winced. "Well, at least you get some. Potato starch is used too, but I'm guessing that would be harder to get."

[doubled_speed]

"Tigertubers are starchy. Maybe I could use them for it?"

How would he, though?

"I guess I always just believed things got thick by cooking long enough.

[crystalmaster]

"It's worth a try. Maybe those are the best option here. I'll experiment and see if it'll work."

He smiled a bit. "Sadly, no."

"Happy to have the experimentation happen," Tommy says with a smile. "Learning is important."

[crystalmaster]

Radley works with the food for a while and then presents the results of the stew. "It looks like tigertubers do make good potato starch," he smiles. "How's this consistency?"

[doubled_speed]

"It's not so bad," Tommy says with a smile. "Damn, I can't believe I'm fucking this up."

[crystalmaster]

"Hey, the stuff you were making tasted great! Now you just know how to get the taste you were actually going for," Radley says.

[doubled_speed]

Well, that’s nice. Tommy smiles at the reinforcing that he’s not a fuck up.

“I hear some people get information on how to cook with this stuff from the datapoint. The datapoints don’t always work with my head right, I think it’s the whole speedster thing. I don’t get the cooking. So I’ve learned this all by practice. Ruined so many pots. But I make hella latkes.”

"Yeah, I'm not into the datapoint stuff. I don't want something messing around in my brain.

"Latkes, huh? That sounds great. I only had those a time or two."

[doubled_speed]

To each their own. Tommy's just got way too much to do to feed them all to not make use of it.

"If you want more, holiday's are coming up. I'll make a lot."

[crystalmaster]

"Cool! I'll look forward to it," Radley said.

[doubled_speed]

Tommy nods, because it's nice to have someone else to share those with.

"You don't have a problem with it, right?"

[crystalmaster]

"... A problem with what?" Radley is confused. "Latkes or the holidays?"

[doubled_speed]

"The holidays," Tommy said, his voice cautious. Some people could be like that. He didn't want to assume people here were like that at all.

[crystalmaster]

"I love the holidays," Radley smiled. "It would be like having a little piece of home back to celebrate them here."

[doubled_speed]

"Okay. Then you can join us," Tommy said. And he smiles. "Because it's nice, to have more people there. It's about togetherness and all that shit."

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, exactly," Radley said. "When are you planning your celebration?"

[doubled_speed]

"Well, Billy and I have a theory as to when Hanukkah is, so about then," Tommy answered. It was harder to be sure with the whole different length days here, but he tries.

[crystalmaster]

"Cool. But when's that?" Radley said. He would need to know when to plan on.

[doubled_speed]

"Uh, probably in December. You know, when it gets cold. I'd have to check the calendar I've been keeping," he notes.

[crystalmaster]

"Yeah, it's usually in December," Radley muses. "I'll just plan on trying to keep the whole month open for holidays."

[doubled_speed]

"Sometimes it's in late November I think. I'm still not great at the calendar. Or the language. Or so many things."

And he's lost his primary tutor but he's trying.

"It's not like it's a major enough thing that you need more than a few hours on some nights.

"Really?" Radley muses. He hadn't known that.

He smiles. "Cool. Well, I'll look forward to it."

"Awesome," TOmmy says with a smile. They won't have to be just him and Billy this year.
