Somewhat Secret Origins
Arrival
Going straight from sailing at high speeds on fog-covered seas to abruptly not will cause issues with momentum shift. Even more so when you're as, shall we say, top-heavy with rigging and vast tracts of land as Reno. There's a very surprised "Whoop" before she tumbles forward and plants face-first into the dirt, with all her arms and legs splayed out and flailing. Another moment and she's already pushing herself back up to her knees with a very harried "I'm alright! I can do this all day!" Indeed, she's perfectly fine aside from dirt and dust now distressing her uniform and nylons and embarrassment distressing her smile.
Just where did that ground come from though. The Eagle Union coastline was in the other direction, aaaaand... as her soft violet eyes widen even further, its quite apparent this is not the Eagle Union. "What... Where am I?"
Before anyone could respond, her eyes lock onto the data point. It didn't take any summoning at all, she's already up to her feet and dashing straight towards it. "Shiny technology," the shipgirl concludes out loud. "Yeah, this should tell me-"
Alright, maybe she shouldn't have been so loud about her intentions. The data dump sends her staggering back and landing flat on her rear, and she's flat there boggling for a good moment for anyone watching. Now might be a good time to get a word in!

Wooow, someone left their touchpad here!

"You haven't heard of the Eagle Union? We're one of the great nations of Earth! Wait. Are you from Earth? Maybe that's why I haven't seen your external feedback component!" Her curiousity is now in full sparkle force, she's never met a real alien before!
no subject
What the absolute hell.
"I'm from NYC, or Detroit, depending on the time frame. Was currently occupying Detroit, 2038 of the USA after moving there from NYC. You haven't seen my parts because you're not from my version of earth where there are fucking androids."
But apparently there were girls with battle accessories. Suddenly York felt pretty fucking normal.
no subject
"But, wait, if I'm not from your Earth and you're not from my Earth..."
no subject
"I wonder if your Eagle Union has a different name in my world. United States of America maybe? With a president as the head of state and the head of the government? The current president in my world is Cristina Warren."
no subject
Oh, right, she has an audience. A quick jazz hand towards her new friend, "Sorry! But, yeah, its America! I don't know who the President is, though, there was Mr. Roosevelt and then Mr. Truman... I don't know after that? Our orders come from the Commander and Enterprise, and they get theirs from Naval HQ. Above that..." She gives an awkward shrug. "I'm not really into politics?"
no subject
The gold turns back to teal but he scowls just a little. "Are you from some sort of military? Those are directly connected to politics?" And politics was something York paid attention to in his world, mostly because decisions could cause death with his own brethren if they were poorly made.
no subject
"I mean, there shouldn't be any politics in saving the planet but I've seen the movies. As far as I know, nobody's ever brought any of us in front of Congress!"
no subject
"You'd be surprised at what politics can involve. But if you're just taking orders, I guess it's easier to just do as your told instead of looking at what your higher ups are talking about." Which wasn't ideal, but York understood how some of the world worked. How many of those soldiers in Jericho had just been following orders? Too many in the android's opinion, and he had done his best to incapacitate as many as he could to save the others.
Not that it mattered since his home had been blown up anyways.
"Great, a military girl with an armory attached to her that's got more energy than an Irish trashcan drink. I guess you need all that energy to deal with aliens though. My world is starting to seem mundane compared to everyone else's. Fucking hell, didn't think I'd say shit like that."
no subject
And with those last words, however, its her turn to cast a tilt to her head. "What's your world like? It can't be that boring if it has androids! Robots make everything more awesome!"
no subject
He shoves his hands his in pockets, looking away from her. "Oh no, it's not boring. Just a revolution happening between humans and androids because the humans don't like it when we started becoming sentient and demanding to be treated as such. There are some humans that have experimented on other androids, some just get outright beaten, our safehouse home was exploded, but yeah. Totally awesome."
no subject
Great way to make a first impression, Reno. Where's Captain America to teach her a valuable life lesson when she needs him? "... If its anything, I'd never treat you like that. You're plenty sentient to me."
no subject
The android finally looks back to her, the scowl still there. "It's a tender subject." But no apology came because that's difficult to get out of him most of the time. He's just a prickly synthetic cactus. York points around. "Hotel is over there if you need a place to stay, diner over there if you need to eat. There's a library over there too, but it's fucking weird so I don't know if I recommend it."
no subject
There's a sympathetic nod, at that scowl, an acknowledgement that it won't be brought up again. "I'd ask if it has graphic novels and how-to books, but that doesn't sound like it does. Are there any workshops around? I'm also good at making things!" Both her palms are raised to York, fully revealing her metallic gloves with the circular light in the palm. "I made these myself!"
no subject
He reaches into his jeans pocket and pulls out his device. "You should have one of these. Has a map on it, will tell you where things are at." York is distracted by her gloves and he blinks.
Whoa. "...What does the light do?" Because they had to do something, right?
no subject
"And if I press this button, it goes 'kshaw ksshhew' and this one 'zzzzap!' They're not nearly as powerful as the real ones 'cause I don't have an arc reactor yet. I have been making some progress in anti-gravity though I don't know how useful that'd be other than maybe serving drinks or long-distance slaps..."
no subject
It reminds him of high tech toys for children in his world. He's more annoyed at himself for being curious about toy gloves now.
"A ship and a waitress all in one, what would we ever do without you in this crumbling fucking city." Absolutely dripping in sarcasm. He sighs out to vent his system and cool it down. "I think there's a bar in town, but I'm not sure where. It should at least be on your map."
no subject
"If I could find a real power supply, then I could come up with something to help carry supplies or materials? I don't think HQ is going to mind my power usage now."
no subject
"I didn't say 'bartender', I said 'waitress'," he points out. "Waitresses work in bars but don't have to be bartenders. Anyways, back to the point, I don't know what kind of power supply you need. One of those workshops I mentioned might have something you can use."
no subject
no subject
"You can check the device for a map to find out where the workshops are. Be a good starting point at least."
no subject
"Device? You mean this?" said as she held up her new device, marveling at it for a moment. Where did that come from? A couple pokes, "Huh, the writing is funny on it, but I think I can make out what they're trying to say! And there's the map!"
no subject
A pause. "And no, I don't know how to get 'home' because if I could, I'd be there and not here by now." Though little by little, it was proving to be nicer here than Detroit for certain.
