Somewhat Secret Origins
Arrival
Going straight from sailing at high speeds on fog-covered seas to abruptly not will cause issues with momentum shift. Even more so when you're as, shall we say, top-heavy with rigging and vast tracts of land as Reno. There's a very surprised "Whoop" before she tumbles forward and plants face-first into the dirt, with all her arms and legs splayed out and flailing. Another moment and she's already pushing herself back up to her knees with a very harried "I'm alright! I can do this all day!" Indeed, she's perfectly fine aside from dirt and dust now distressing her uniform and nylons and embarrassment distressing her smile.
Just where did that ground come from though. The Eagle Union coastline was in the other direction, aaaaand... as her soft violet eyes widen even further, its quite apparent this is not the Eagle Union. "What... Where am I?"
Before anyone could respond, her eyes lock onto the data point. It didn't take any summoning at all, she's already up to her feet and dashing straight towards it. "Shiny technology," the shipgirl concludes out loud. "Yeah, this should tell me-"
Alright, maybe she shouldn't have been so loud about her intentions. The data dump sends her staggering back and landing flat on her rear, and she's flat there boggling for a good moment for anyone watching. Now might be a good time to get a word in!
Network - Video
[The screen whirls around in a dramamine-inducing blur with unintelligible Reno sounds before settling down on the face of the now quite inquisitive kansen.]
Wooow, someone left their touchpad here!

Arrival
Only he didn't get that far. Instead, he sees a new face sitting on the asphalt like she had been pushed. Probably the data point. Shit, did this make him the welcome committee? He didn't have programming for that.
He secures his hoodie around his waist (never leaves home without it), which puts the glowing LED on his chest visible even under his shirt. "Yikes, that's quite an entrance. Landing flat on your ass like that. Hope you weren't transmitting to the network when you did that because that'd be pretty embarrassing." There's a tone and air of arrogance around him, this dark haired teenager that doesn't seem to stand any taller than 5'3".
Re: Arrival
Reno shakes her head for a moment, processing everything the data node had shoved into her little kansen brain. Alien planet? Energy storms? Mass devastation? Its a lot to take, so please forgive her, York, if its a few more moments before she realizes she's not alone.
A glance of surprise in his direction, and then another in a double-take with even wider eyes. "You-" Her eyes had fixated straight on his chest at first and second glance, but now at her third and that is not nearly enough facial hair for Tony Stark. "Is that a reactor?", she asks in awe, a shiny metal gloved finger pointing at his chest.
no subject
"No? It's my external feedback biocomponent. The fuck is an arc reactor?" He wanted to slap that pointing finger away, but for now crossed his arms over his chest. His teal eyes did watch her metal glove, wondering if it was in fact a glove or a metal arm.

"Yeah, it's a feedba-- I'm guessing the LEDs like this don't exist in your world."
He doesn't extend a hand at her greeting, keeping those arms still folded. "What's the Eagle Union? Never heard of it. Is it something from Earth?" Probably not Earth 2038.
no subject
"You haven't heard of the Eagle Union? We're one of the great nations of Earth! Wait. Are you from Earth? Maybe that's why I haven't seen your external feedback component!" Her curiousity is now in full sparkle force, she's never met a real alien before!
no subject
What the absolute hell.
"I'm from NYC, or Detroit, depending on the time frame. Was currently occupying Detroit, 2038 of the USA after moving there from NYC. You haven't seen my parts because you're not from my version of earth where there are fucking androids."
But apparently there were girls with battle accessories. Suddenly York felt pretty fucking normal.

"But, wait, if I'm not from your Earth and you're not from my Earth..."
no subject
"I wonder if your Eagle Union has a different name in my world. United States of America maybe? With a president as the head of state and the head of the government? The current president in my world is Cristina Warren."

It's probably yours.
Are you new?
"Its mine?"
[More whirling screen as it spins around in the girl's hands, then it resets back to an even more perplexed furrow to her brow.]
"It doesn't have my name on it and I would guess I'm new? I've never been on an alien planet before! I'm Reno, of the Eagle Union! Its a pleasure!"
[Text]
From my understanding, everyone who's brought here receives one. It's pretty useful.
I've never been on an alien planet until this place either. Still not sure if I like it or not, but most of the people have been all right. Can't say I've heard of the Eagle Union, but it's nice to meet you, Reno.
I'm Celty.
Re: [Text]
"You haven't heard of the Eagle Union either? I wonder if I'm the only kansen here! Where are you from?"
no subject
I'm from Japan. Ikebukurou, specifically.

Kansen in Japanese can stand for warship. It would make sense in the same application to your acronym. Are you...some kind of cyborg?
[... Is this girl...an otaku?]
Ah... Yes, I think that should probably be the least of your concerns here. You don't seem to be taking things too badly though.

Reno's effusive glow fades then, at a thought. "It is a long way from Earth and I don't even know when I'll be back. I won't be able to go toy shopping with Morrison or read bedtime stories to Juneau or keep San Diego away from my collectibles or- nngh!" A shake of her head, and the girl forces through a smile. "Its fine! There's hero-ing to be done here!"

Arrival
"Are you alright?"

"Is 'Eagle Union' your home planet or is it a sort of family name?"
no subject
no subject
"No, I'm not. I did not hear that planet's name until I was here either."
Well, the first time anyway.
"From what I have gathered it's not the same galaxy."

Thrawn didn't know what 'at attention' would look like for Reno, but his default was 'at ease' and would have told her she could do the same.
"I hope it is a favorable comparison?"
