Good afternoon dears.

[There's Lark, holding her phone in proper selfie-orientation, the background clearly indicating she's in the lobby of the Temba Hotel. Her free arm was wrapped around the big, cream colored, curly coated dog at her side, who looked very pleased just to see the picture moving on the screen. And behind her, just barely visible, is a large pack.]

It is starting to feel like late spring, or perhaps early summer. And this is a very important time. It is the time for me to head over to Sh'Ka to harvest things for pigments. Pigments for dyes, pigments for paints if people wish those, just plants that Moonshade and I discovered before.

Seems to me that it might be a good time to not only head over there for gathering, but I've got a list of foods to harvest and smoke or dry for the diner as well, per the young man there's request. It is a lot of work for one person, but I would not turn away from it. Especially as I'm hoping those bushes near that fancy building in the Northeast truly are berry bushes and if so, that I can get a good number of those for preserves, maybe even some leaves for tea.

This could be a good bit of work, so I wished to offer any who might join me an invitation now, so you can get things together and either join me by train, or if someone can fly on of the ships, transport that way.

What say you? I promise not to meddle with the network there either. I've taken Agriculture for the period of time I'll be over there, to make sure I only gather things that are safe to touch and consume.

Yeah, it seems to be a thing in a lot of universes we come from. Who knows, maybe where you come from will end up the same one day!

The order I am a part of is the Living Circle, and we have temple complex, where our dedicates and apprentices live. I myself live at the Winding Circle, we are the most renowned of the temples for teaching magic.

Ooh, magic! I can't do any magic myself, but one of my friends back home...kinda can? It's complicated, but she can do some neat stuff. Saved my life, actually. Well, kinda brought me back from the dead, if you wanna be exact about it, but...

[He still has nightmares time to time about it, but largely, it's something he's come to terms with. Lance is alive and well, after all, now.]

What kinda magic do you do?

Less dangerous magic than that. I'm a thread mage.

[Right. Oops. Probably something that shouldn't be brought up in casual talk with a person he just met, even if he tries to force it to be No Big Deal.]

Thread mage? I wanna make a joke about us calling those seamstresses or tailors back where I'm from, but I'm getting the feeling that it means something other than just sewing clothes or something.

I control and do magic with thread and fiber and cloth. That's what it means.

Oh! So I was kinda on the money with that! That's actually really cool. Can you still do that here?

Yes. My magic is part of me, and has not been taken away.

That's super cool to hear. I've always wondered what it was like to use magic... I'm super in the minority here just being a boring ol' human with no magic or cool superpowers or any special stuff aside from some talents.

[It's been rough on the inferiority complex that still lingers, if nowhere near as much as before, and is why he tends to push himself beyond his limits at times even if it's dangerous to him.]

The majority of people in my world are like you. And there is nothing wrong with lacking magic or ‘superpowers’. In fact, there is an advantage in not being torn by the forces of nature as magic users can be.

I mean, I guess. It does make you feel a bit useless when things get dangerous and all you have to rely on is your training and an average, unremarkable body. I was considering getting a techy magical implant or something back in the last place we were in before here, but I knew Keith wouldn't have really been happy about it, so...

[He gives a little shrug.]

Why should you be useless when things get dangerous? Training is all that makes a mage reliable in an emergency too. My body is mostly average, remarkable only for the fact that I used to be an acrobat. And I've no tech skills. Truly, are we so different?

I...guess not.

[He takes a deep breath.]

Sorry, I shouldn't have unloaded all that stuff like that. I know I'm being silly about it all, in the end.

It's okay. Sometimes you need someone to talk to. And we will have time. If you want, we can keep talking on the train.

[He still feels a bit guilty about all his rambling, but once he gets started, it's difficult to stop. And ever since he lost Biffy, it's been difficult to get that kind of situation that he can get out all of that with someone. Of course, there's Keith, but sometimes he doesn't want to bother him with everything. And he's still rebuilding his relationship with Shiro after so long.

So...it comes out here and there after keeping a lot of it in.]
