[Open] With All The Force Of A Great Typhoon

WHO: Lauri-Ell, Open
WHERE: Civics Center Gym and Training Rooms
WHAT: Feeling weak post storm and trying to fix that with workouts, come join her!
WHEN: Late February (before realizing the Tony/Beck mess)
WARNINGS: None

The storm had come and gone, and never before had Lauri-Ell, Kree Accuser and royal Bodyguard, ever felt so powerless. Her hammer had been useless, the Agrii weapons had not functioned, and when she needed it most, the strength she had thought so core to who she was had even failed. There was only, in her opinion, one reasonable response to the situation.

Become stronger. Be better able to protect those who would have need of her.

Patrols were abandoned right now, in favor of rising with the dawn, eating, and returning to the training space.

"You must be stronger, to protect him," she reminded herself as she entered and moved right to the weight lifting gear.

Her attention was almost completely taken by the work, but not so deep that she would fail to notice someone entering. At least, provided the person wasn't trying to stay hidden. Otherwise she might not notice them over the low grunts that came with her lifting the heaviest weights she had available.

"I," she panted and lifted the insanely heavy weights on the bench, punctuating each word with a lift, "Will. Be. Better."

"I would be pleased if you did," she answered with a smile, nodding her approval. "I have not had a dedicated training partner in a while."

This had Terra smile. "Regular training would be great, guess I never really thought about that, or having a partner to train with."

Sure he did back home with Aqua and Ven but that thought hadn't occurred to him to do while he was here. Well, this could be fun.

"Are you willing to spar against someone with a hammer?" She asked, rising to her feet and offering her hand out to him.

Terra took the offered hand and he nodded with a smile. "I'm going to say yes to the training, and avoid that hammer."

While he had complete faith in his abilities with a keyblade, he knew he could be crushed easily by Lauri-Ell and her hammer.

"One day I will find someone to spar me with it," she laughs, before gesturing to the bench.

"DO you wish to attempt lifting? I can adjust the weights for you if you desire."

"I can still give you a good fight." Terra offered. Besides fighting someone with a weapon he didn't know would give him experience if he needed it later on.

One never knew.

But he looked at the weights and considered a moment. "Sounds good, I haven't lifted weights in a long time." Ven didn't count as a weight, but Terra lifted him like one at times.

Yes, he probably could.

"You seem as if you would be quite strong," she says, immediately moving to start removing things. Better to start at a low weight and build up to find what he can handle.

"It just takes practice." Terra replied, because bragging wasn't his style at all. He could do what he could do and that's pretty much all there was to it in his eyes.

Still, he watched the weights that she was moving around but wasn't sure he should offer to help yet.

No, not yet. She was carrying around a fifty pound weight in each hand. She handled them as if they weighed nothing.

"Here," she said when she put them down. A nice fifty pounds total to start. "We shall add as you need. I shall 'spot' you."

The keyblade wielder smiled. "Great." He bent down to pick up the fifty pounds and didn't find it difficult. This was going to be a great way for him to make sure he stayed in shape. Plus with all of the other things in this place, there was no excuse for him not to train and work out when he had time.

"This isn't bad at all."

"Ah, then after a few repetitions we should increase the weight," Lauri-Ell says with a smile. "I believe you shall impress me with your lifting."

IT is good to inspire your parties by giving them encouraging words. This is her attempt.

"That's good." Terra replied, curling the weights pretty easily. And then he felt his face turn red as he got a compliment.

"I'll do my best." He highly doubted that he'd lift as much as her but he was going to try.

"Your best is going to be impressive," she promised. Not Kree levels, but her species evolved on a world that had twice the gravity.

"Do you lift weights often?"

"I..uh.." It was hard to explain.

"I actually lifted a friend of mine, we made a game out of it."

Aqua was too light and didn't enjoy the idea of being lifted like a weight. Ven however laughed and thought it was great.

"Lifted a friend?" Lauri asked, smiling. That was quite interesting. "That could be quite a bit of fun."

Terra smiled as he continued lifting what he had to warm up.

"Ya..we..Ven really had a good time with it. But actual weights are better because you can always go up or down with those pretty easily."

"That is correct. It is better balanced this way. But I have heard some people doing push ups with someone on your back."

Terra was quite wise, to notice how important that flexibility in weights was.

That comment about having someone on his back while doing push ups sounded amazing. "Really? People can do that?" He didn't know of anyone he could ask, but if he remembered this conversation when he got back home he could do that.

The weights were still comfortable, and he was still getting warmed up, so he was okay with what he had for now.

"Yes, I believe I could do that quite easily," she answered with a smile. They will have to find someone to try this with.

"I believe we should add more. You are not straining, which is good, but you are also not getting proper tension."

"Okay." Terra agreed. That was easily enough done, he hoped. That would be an awkward conversation he figured. But then he evaded more than a few of those in Greece.

Looking up at Lauri-Ell he nodded and set the weights down. "Ya, that was a good warm up. Let's see what else you've got there."

Oh come now, she understood wanting to be the best fighter you can be! That was clearly what he was thinking, right?

"Gladly," she smiles before going to reclaim more weights and affixing them onto the bar. "Not many people seem eager to do this here with me. Save for the new Warrior Glads."

She had definitely misheard his name.

"Glads?" Terra asked, running that name through his mind. He watched as Lauri-Ell set the new weights on and put a hand under his chin in thought. A new warrior.

"Are you talking about Gladio?"

"Ah, yes!" Lauri-Ell smiles. That seems right. "That one."

"Ah." Terra replied with a nod. "I've met him."

He seemed like a pretty nice guy, a little rough around the edges, but a good guy none the less. And somehow Terra wasn't surprised to hear the guy lifted weights.

Yes, he did seem to look like he lifted, didn't he? She was glad hat others got the use too though.

"He lifts in the mornings while I do my patrols. Or did my patrols."
