[Open] With All The Force Of A Great Typhoon

WHO: Lauri-Ell, Open
WHERE: Civics Center Gym and Training Rooms
WHAT: Feeling weak post storm and trying to fix that with workouts, come join her!
WHEN: Late February (before realizing the Tony/Beck mess)
WARNINGS: None

The storm had come and gone, and never before had Lauri-Ell, Kree Accuser and royal Bodyguard, ever felt so powerless. Her hammer had been useless, the Agrii weapons had not functioned, and when she needed it most, the strength she had thought so core to who she was had even failed. There was only, in her opinion, one reasonable response to the situation.

Become stronger. Be better able to protect those who would have need of her.

Patrols were abandoned right now, in favor of rising with the dawn, eating, and returning to the training space.

"You must be stronger, to protect him," she reminded herself as she entered and moved right to the weight lifting gear.

Her attention was almost completely taken by the work, but not so deep that she would fail to notice someone entering. At least, provided the person wasn't trying to stay hidden. Otherwise she might not notice them over the low grunts that came with her lifting the heaviest weights she had available.

"I," she panted and lifted the insanely heavy weights on the bench, punctuating each word with a lift, "Will. Be. Better."

Well now she's thoughtful. Someone to join her for that could be interesting.

"I have been doing them alone for so long."

"How come you've done them alone?" Terra asked as he lifted his weights. Maybe he shouldn't be asking that question but he was curious. And of course this was him completely overlooking the fact that he would do the same thing.

"Aeon left," Lauri-Ell answered. She had lost her companion for the work. It was just as well. "Many are not concerned with the security though."

He had no idea who Aeon was, but that didn't stop him from feeling bad for Lauri-Ell anyway. So he half scowled and continued to lift his weights until she said the part about the security.

"A patrol is pretty important. When did you do them? Were they done at a certain time of day?"

"Early in the morning, as many predator species seem to be active at that time. I could be wrong. But this place is too big to monitor all day by a single person."

And so she did the best she could.

He looked over at her and nodded. "The place is really huge and you're right, it is too big for one person."

So says the guy who didn't think of saving worlds doing it that very same way. But then again Aqua did show up and with Ven in tow at times. So technically he wasn't alone.

Sometimes.

"But no one's seen you and offered to help at all?" That surprised him.

"I work in the early hours," she said, and then shrugged. "And again, it's very large. I do not see many while I am out and about."

So it's not their fault. She doesn't ask for help either very often.

"Early like before there's any light?" Terra asked, giving himself a few more repetitions before pausing a moment to look at Lauri-Ell.

That early would explain not many people being around in his eyes.

"Yes," she answered with a smile and a nod of approval at how he's doing. Very good. "Well, the light is low at least.

He was about to protest at how dangerous that was and instead wisely chose to keep his mouth shut. That comment would just earn him a swift kick and he'd deserve it. He knew women could be tough, because Aqua never failed to remind him if he got out of line about that.

"Well more help is a good idea."

"More help would be very welcome," she answered with a smile. It was kind for him to imply he would assist her, even if he had not specifically agreed to do so yet.

"Alright." Terra replied with a nod. He did decide he was going to help, but these weights were a thing. Finally he set them down and looked at Lauri-Ell.

"Do you do your lifting after your rounds?"

"I do. And I train with any who come to seek it. Self defense, or strengthening, or anything else. I am a soldier, and did not know what else to do with myself."

But she was going to start learning medicine soon.

He smiled and looked over the weights, wondering how much more he should put on there. "That's not a bad idea, to continue to do something here that you're already good at or familiar with."

"I think it is also a good idea to improve. A very good thing, yes? To not be what we were made to be alone, but to be what we wish as well? To find our own wants?"

Terra smiled with a nod to her assessment to improve. That was something he'd always been trying to do back home. Like there was the time he entered Games just to see how good he was.

"So what did you always want to be when you grew up?" Might as well start that conversation since Lauri-Ell opened it up.

"I did not grow up in the sense you mean," Lauri-Ell answered quite honestly. "I suppose this is the reasonable point in my life for me to desire to be things in my future."

All she had ever been was a warrior.

He nodded. "Well then is there anything you ever wanted to try to be instead of a warrior?"

Terra wondered if there was anything he would be besides a keyblade master like he'd always wanted. It gave him a lot of pause as he turned to look at the weights.

"I wanted to read books, and see flowers, and help people," Lauri-Ell answered with a smile.

"Those sound great." Terra replied with a slight laugh and nod. He knew better than to comment that flowers sounded too girlish. The last time he made a comment like that, he was pretty sure Aqua was going to try and kick his ass.

"I can't say I've seen too many flowers here, but maybe I haven't been looking hard enough. Books though, I haven't seen."

Books were cool.

Lauri-Ell would have kicked his ass for that. Don't even go there.

"There is a library, but it does not have much in it."

"That almost sounds like an adventure, just to go see it." Terra smiled. "That last time I saw books.." He tried to think. "I saw a lot in a mysterious tower but that was a long time ago."

Back when he'd seen the king and didn't realize who it was, before meeting Master Yen Sid.

"You do not wish to go there," she said nervously. Lauri-Ell was still mostly scared of Jon after all. And it was his domain.

That kind of reaction was instantly noticed. Lauri-Ell never seemed afraid of anything. And yet her tone seemed to be just that.

"Why not?"

"The keeper of the place, he has powers."

And those powers scared her.
