Oops, Did I Do That?
WHO: Tommy Shepherd, OTA
WHERE: Network, Caves, Beach
WHAT: Tommy reacting to mintpocalypse, exploring a cave, and being TOO energetic
WHEN: Friday Oct 15th and Saturday Oct 16th
WARNINGS: n/a
Network - Friday Morning
this is so absolutely and completely not my fault at all so anyone who says so is an absolute liar
Network - Saturday Morning
okay but serious when am I getting my reward for a creative way of finding the beach?
Caves
So, hey, this was a thing. Tommy hadn't meant to, yanno, cover the whole damn place in mint. None of the species were supposed to be that bad, right? Not the earth ones. Maybe it was something about this world. What he knew is that he felt like shit on Friday morning. And then a lot more relaxed as he woke and found his way along the path on Saturday, a blur of motion and a whoop of joy as he found the ocean. Of course he took the moment to take credit before starting to explore. Not in the waves, not at all. No, Tommy instead heads along the shore until he finds a cave.
Tommy never would have considered his power related to energy, which is a mistake. If he had, he might have thought twice when he was using his phone as a light and it was SO bright. Then again, he wouldn't have put two and two together anyway. Just mused how it was interesting that the tunnel kept getting brighter rather than darker the further in he went. And if he had a sense of time like that of a normal human, he'd definitely have noticed how weird it was that the tunnel was passing by so quickly. As it was, Tommy was rushing through the caves at a break-neck pace, his hair shining with a soft white glow, and in the air behind him there was a lingering after image of white-green light. A pale mint trailing after him. Amusing, right?
So Tommy darts around, building up a charge, and not realizing that he might not be alone.
Beach
His body is screaming with energy, and there is so much that Tommy wants to do. He's well fed and he feels like he can take on the world. Probably can actually. He's got energy here, too much energy. Which means only one thing. Time for some damn FUN. He moves quickly, a burst of pale-mint colored light racing over the water, over the waves. And, when he realizes that there's a serious trail of light following him, Tommy's soon drawing patterns all over the waves, enjoying the way the light lingers and the shapes follow after him. His fingers trace his name in the air like the residual light of a sparkler, and his laughter follows him easily.
Then there he is, back on the shore, sparks dancing off his feet and hitting the sand, not that he notices. Instead he's busy chasing after the lobster-like creatures. Could probably eat those, right?
And when it's all done the young man, hair shining with an undeniable pale white light, eyes glowing green, stretched out on the sand and considering the sky. Nice. New thought, more time in the cave, because he's been feeling amazing ever since he went there.

Network - Voice;
[They had been speaking about finding the ocean, after all.]
No precarious journey through foreign territory either. Yay, you.
[His tone might be dry sarcasm, but he is genuinely pleased to have access to the ocean now. After all, it is a wealth of resources.]
Text
oh hey you it's life of the party guy
the oil is working out pretty well
except you know now I have WAY too much mint to work with
I was trying to be helpful
I know mint can be a bit of a thing back home but it doesn't breed like that
and no other plants have gone and escaped like that
guess I know why it was a chained off part of the greenhouse now
but hey there are glowy sheep
maybe we can make glowing clothes
Voice;
[He can't help but be amused.]
And I imagine we'll be able to, should we manage to keep a few of them. It's already getting colder, so warmer clothes for winter would be beneficial for all of us.

Beach
When he's finally settled in on the sand, Katara jogs down the hill and out across the beach, leaning over him to block his view of the sky.
"Hey, you! That was amazing!" she says, a wide grin on her face. "And... you're glowing! Is that normal?"
Re: Beach
"Glowing, huh? I guess not. It's Billy and my Mom who do all the glowing. But today's been weird."
no subject
"It reminds me of my friend Aang from back home, actually. He has these tattoos that glow when he goes into the Avatar state--that is, when he connects with all his past lives to access all his power. It's like nothing you've ever seen."
She looks out over the ocean, running her hands through the purple sand. "It's really beautiful here, isn't it? It's so easy to get caught up missing home, but sometimes it takes you by surprise."

But for now, he's kinda looking at Tommy with so much skepticism on his face. And maybe even the tiniest tinge of worry. "Are you... supposed to do that?"
no subject
"Do what, Cap Scruffy?"
Because really, he wants to hear someone else say it. Prove he isn't crazy right now.

Can I say that the weird lobster things are my idea? Because they’re freaking delicious.

Caves
When he did find it, he had the difficulty of light-based vision conflicting with an infrared vision since Tommy was glowing brightly but not giving off a matching level of heat. Thrawn had to stop and rub his eyes with one hand since he was getting a headache.
"Is there a reason you are glowing so brightly?"
no subject
"Yeah, I'm a Christmas tree."
Okay, that might be a bit too defensive. The kid moves to cross his arms over his chest, leaving an afterimage of the motion in minty green light.

Caves
The caves seem like the obvious place, definitely the sort of thing that would lure Tommy in, and once he's a little ways in he can feel the familiar sort of displacement his brother tends to leave in his wake.
Meanwhile, his powers have left him doubly affected, a familiar blue glow growing around him as he walks, though he can't figure out why. An unconscious spell maybe? Something to give him light? And then the sneezing starts, fingers letting loose an uncontrolled burst of electricity that startles him.
"...Never done that before."
And suddenly he's distracted by a light that's not his own, one that's speeding past him, but most definitely belongs to- "Tommy?"
Re: Caves
"Hey B, whatyadoing here?" he asks. Not like Tommy to have that much of a problem with controlling his rate of speech, not these days.

Beach
Right. This is weirdly making him miss Thor.
Once Tommy's still for a bit, he wanders by. "You seem in a fine mood."
Re: Beach
"I mean, yeah. I haven't had energy like this since I got here. It's frustrating, to have to be a snail all the time."

text - Friday morning
[Granted that the "containment protocol" is mostly a chain and a door, but even the weird mint from this planet doesn't sprout and take over that quickly under normal circumstances.]

someone broke the chains over the door
though the door is still closed
don't know why someone would do that at all
must have been a crazy person
but the greenhouse doesn't seen overrun
