[Winter and cold weather usually honestly, well, sucked for Lance. Growing up in Cuba, going to the Garrison in the middle of a desert, then a bunch of years in space... He wasn't used to the snow and the cold and the dark, so his mood had definitely suffered for it, no matter how novel snow tended to be. But despite spring still being a way's away, there was something bright happening now. A festival. Lance loved festivals and fairs and any sort of celebration, really, so something like this happening? Yeah, he was all over it.

The first thing he notices of course is the archery range. Though his marksmanship expertise lays in shooting, he's still been good at archery the times he's tried it, so he's eager to give this a shot. Literally. He's grinning as he ends up doing better than he thought, managing no small amount of bullseyes. Yeah, he definitely wants to practice some more with this stuff.

The treasure pit as well catches his eye. Who could say no to shinies? So he goes over, spending some time digging things up and collecting the prettiest rocks he can. Could be great for decoration, but even more than that, maybe he can utilize the prettiest one he finds to make a nice gift for Keith.

Once he's all tuckered out from running about from activity to activity, he'll hang out by the bonfire, sitting down and relaxing. Lance sips at one of the "potions" he'd made earlier, tossing bundles into the fire every so often to admire the sparkles and colors.

He knows that things are never peaceful for long, but right now, he'll enjoy it while it lasts.]

[Gladio definitely recognizes that name. What are the chances?]

Dude with dark hair, a bit of scowling, can summon a sword from sorta fist cuff thing?

That's exactly it! [He beams.] My lovely fiancé. Also, I've got one of those cool things too--it's called a bayard-- 'cept I can make it a rifle. And a sniper rifle. And a sword.

[Bit of bragging, yes, but Lance is extremely proud of being able to do that.]

Bayard.

[What a weird word. And it transformed? Even weirder.]

Your sword any bigger than his?

Yeah! ...Maybe. ...I dunno, honestly, I never paid that much attention.

[Gladio snorted at that, and, out of respect for the younger man, resisted the first joke that came to mind that he absolutely would have used with his friends.

Because a sword measuring joke was absolutely not out of place for the Chocobros.]

You got it with you? Been interested to see these things up closer.

Mmhmm! You never know what's going to happen, so...

[He unclips his red bayard from his belt, handing it over to Gladio. Though he's protective of it, of course, he trusts the people here--and Keith to help get it back if anything.]

[Gladio holds the thing carefully, respectfully even because he gets that it's a weapon. Twists it this way and that to inspect it. And then shrugs before passing it back.]

Yep, no clue how that thing works.

[He gets up for a second once he takes it back, holding it in his hand. In a glowy flash, it turns into a rifle, and Lance grins as he poses with it.]

Pretty cool, huh? It's a perk of being a paladin of Voltron.

Well that's interesting. Transforming weapon. He had seen Keith do the same, but he's intrigued by it anyway.

"You know, that's not going to stop being cool. Keith showed me his own, when he saw my weapon."

I mean, his sword is pretty cool, but is it as cool as this?

[Lance grins, and in another flash, his rifle turns into a broadsword. He brandishes it with an overdramatic pose, because, well, he's Lance.]

[It's pretty plan of a broadsword. In fact, Gladio summoned his greatsword, the massive thing nearly as large as Gladio was, forming out of glowing blue crystal shards. Then he smirked.]

I think mine trumps both of yours.

That...bwuh. That's not fair.

[Though Lance pouts, it's clear that he's absolutely fascinated by the sword.]

[Gladio laughs, moving to sink the sword into the ground so that Lance could look at it. Took a bit of will to have it remain when he didn't hold it, but there it was.]

Of course it is. You been working with greatswords since you were eight?

[In another flash, his own sword goes away, and he hooks his bayard back onto his belt before examining the greatsword with fascination.]

Nope. When I was eight, I was fighting my siblings with sticks from the yard. I didn't even hold a sword proper till I found out I could make the bayard into one. So I was like...seventeen or eighteen? Hard to track time in space.

I bet it is. Me, I've been training since I was young. Family legacy stuff. I also use a shield, big one. But this is my primary offensive weapon.

{And the blade with which he protected his king.]

Ooh, shields sound cool. Though I've never really used one, since I'm the marksman of the group. Kinda hard to shield when you usually need two hands on the gun.

Yeah, it can be. Though it's also hard to shield when you use two greatswords at once.

[Which would of course mean Gladio wielded the one between them with only a single hand.]

Yo. Yooooo, how strong are you?

[Talk about extra fascinated now. One greatsword is one thing, but dual wielding them?]

Strong enough to take down anything I need to in the line of duty. I was raised to be a protector. Strength became a goal of mine.
