WHO: Jon & You!
WHERE: Ren Fair
WHAT: REN FAIR!
WHEN: Ren Fair Event
WARNINGS: I dunno.
Research
Walking past those unmoving figures comes with an eerie sensation, one that isn't too unfamiliar to Jon, which results in him spending quite some time studying the projections or plain watching them. Where of course watching means he will outright stare at them, daring them to move or flicker.
They don't flicker.
Which is an interesting observation to make, given the effect his powers tend to have on electric devices. He isn't sure what he is looking at...
Of course he also gives the different food items a try. For science. And as he is looking at one of the still figures spread around the market and taking a bite of what at least looks like a flatbread covered with sour cream and some herbs, Jon can't help himself but make a small noise that is bordering disappointment at the person next to him. "And here I almost have forgotten about their weird endorsement of peanut butter."
Experiment
Well, making those candles hasn't been that bad, even if they turned out rather bland and uninspiring. They are functional and will do what a candle is supposed to do: Burn.
He has skipped the stands with the fabric and sewing materials, instead having moved on to the blacksmithing area and finds himself looking at the pile of colorful metal pieces before picking one up and contemplating this raw piece of- The Archivist has no idea what he is even looking at and that gives him pause.
Getting past that discovery of Not Knowing takes a moment and Jon turns his attention over to the fire before slowly and very carefully starting to work. No, he has no experience at all or any idea what he is even trying to make and the soft muttering is more directed at himself. "I had plenty of opportunity to have Tony show me how to do this, but have I ever asked him? Nooo, of course not..."
Evaluation Valentine's Special!
The bonfire is a nice place to relax and Jon can't help but wonder if the Agrii have added it in response to the little beach party their He-Rows had set up last summer. Not that he would mind. He does, however, frown a little at the piles of pink, purple and red glitter now setting the scene rather than the pink snow that had been present the previous day.
Scooping up a handful of it, Jon inspects the pieces as he lets them fall slowly back down to the ground. Sure they don't melt. Which will make cleaning up this mess even worse. It isn't like he hasn't still been finding glitter from last year in the library.
"At least the mothcats will have their fun with this..." He observes with a mild chuckle, letting the rest of the stuff drop and pulling a fortune cookie from his pocket. These have become a little ritual over the past few days: Every evening at the bonfire, Jon will open one - And then make fun of its prediction.

He takes a moment to look around the market. "So what do you think prompted them to do this?"
no subject
"Who knows, maybe they're trying to be helpful again. Last few weeks ago it was, what, gift giving like a late Dawning, and now this? Have they done something like this before? I mean, I know it didn't happen last time but there've been people before us."

Jon watches Cayde lift his hand back out of the wax with a small frown forming between his brows. "Please tell me you aren't planning to make candles of rude gestures."
no subject
"-golly, do you not know me by now, Jonathan?!" he sputters, pulling his hand out of another vat. Two fingers are held out, not one particular one. He grins crookedly then, pointing it off to the side. "Bang!"

He was clearly heartbroken at what had happened here with the peanut butter. Man, he didn't know how disappointed he could still be in the world.

Shrugging once, he looks over the rest of the fairground. "I will admit, however, that they seem to have tried to match the theme. They could have added clowns to it and I wouldn't be surprised."
no subject
"Not efficient at all. So I probably wouldn't try. With less people around to cook and grow things, we're going to go through the pre-made supplies faster. So busier TOmmy."
But yeah, the theme was okay here, and he had been interested by that.
"Dude, don't send in the clowns. If you say it, they might do it."

But that aside, Jon looks over to the greenhouse, very much visible from the market. "Is anyone helping you out at the diner at the moment anyway?" He can't help but wonder. And Tony making a mess out of the kitchen obviously hardly counts.
no subject
"Dude, we're always being watched. A lot. But I guess I've gotten used to that. And no, not really. Tony doesn't count, if you're wondering. Noctis does bring fish pretty regular though."
no subject
In regards of Tommy's observation, the Archivist simply smirks. "You aren't wrong. And while we all have gotten used to it, it remains something one can't entirely stop to be at least a little unsettled by. And believe me, I would know." He has to eat something, right?

2 Exos for the price of 1 - Experiment without hand candles
There seems to be a moment where he debates on leaving Jon to his work to return at another time, but curiosity wins out as he watches the Archivist struggle at fashioning...something.
no subject
But theoretical knowledge is, by nature, very different than having actual experience with crafting something. Adding to that is Jon's lacking physical strength, leaving the effect of his blows on the metal on a less impressive and Jon's attempt more on the unambitious side.
Noticing the well familiar sensation of being watched, Jon lifts his attention up from his work and over to the Exo, raising an inquisitive brow at him. "Can I help you?"
no subject
"I was just watching," the warlord replies once Jon addresses him. "What is it you intend to make?"
no subject
Which is hard, okay?
no subject
"It does take effort," he says. He's well aware that there are differences in human strength, just as Exo strength is vastly different from human strength. It is nothing to boast about, it is fact. "The metal is an unknown substance, but it has proven to shape well. It does need consistent application of heat to make it pliable.
"...if I hammered it thinner, perhaps it would be more workable for you."
no subject
"Have you done this before?" Jon inquires while stepping away from the anvil with a gesture for Felwinter to take over if he wishes to do so.

Evaluation
People seem to come and go a little more regularly from this one, but it's to be expected. She's sitting with her feet towards the flames and a thick blanket wrapped around her shoulders when she hears Jon muttering about the glitter. BB-8 actually "speaks" up first, warbling and chirping in an annoyed lilt before forcibly ejecting a puff of glitter from one of his vents.
Rey let out a laugh, shaking her head.
"BB-8 doesn't think it's very fun."
no subject
Jon lets his attention drift from BB-8 over to Rey, then inclines his head a little. "Is BB-8 doing alright with Poe gone?"
no subject
BB-8 beeps a response to Jon on his own, and Rey translates.
"Yes and no. He doesn't seem to remember being here with Poe, just ending up here with me. He misses him though."
no subject
When the droid answers him, Jon nods his understanding with a light smile. "I see." His next question is actually directed at the droid himself. "And do you remember me?"
no subject
In answer to Jon's question BB-8 shook his head "no" in a human way, letting out a low warble as he bows his head slightly. That doesn't really need a translation.
"It's like his memory was wiped, but I can't find any trace of it."
no subject
"It's been a while since a few of us actually met them. The Agrii. They seemed in many ways like children left without any adults. Though if they truly have left this planets a few hundred years ago, the ones we met may simply be a different generation of Agrii than the ones that originally lived here." He shrugs. "There are yet a lot of questions unanswered about them, unfortunately."
