Arrival Log & A Network Transmission
WHO: The Iron Bull (
theirondragon) and you
WHERE: The Fountain
WHAT: Arrival
WHEN: Saturday - Afternoon
WARNINGS: Bull is Bull, will warn as necessary.
The disorientation wore off faster than he would have thought possible. Looking around the place, it was kind of a shit hole, truth be told, but a vaguely familiar one. He couldn't quite put his finger on it as he stood, casting an intimidating shadow of muscles and horns, but the place just felt like he'd seen it before. It was like a dream, though, fleeting and dodgy any time he tried to focus on it. Instead, he followed his gut, which was telling him to touch that shiny thing over there. It was a weird dichotomy, honestly. His gut said to touch it, and his instinct told him it was probably magic or some other technological weird crap and that it would probably do something to him.
He touched it. His instincts were right. Agrii sounded familiar, too, and in that weird, half-dream sense as much as what the orb shoved into his head. That wasn't weird. That had happened a lot, he was pretty sure of it, but the big guy still shook his head, a hand on his forehead.
"Shit."
It was a lot, alright?
\\NETWORK - later\\
[The video feed comes on to show a grey-skinned man with sharp features, dark stubble, a scarred face with a fetching leather eyepatch (well, it at fetching according to at least one person who mattered), and what looked to be some hefty horns coming off his head. It was hard to tell their size from the feed, but they were definitely there.
He grins at the feed before he speaks, but it's a casual, good-natured thing. His voice is deep, too, earthy and rough. He speaks slowly like he has all the time in the world.]
Hey, folks. I just showed up, but I get the idea that's happened to a lot of you guys. I'm The Iron Bull. Any tips for the new guy? I'm open to all of it. Why don't we start with where to get a drink?
((OOC: For those of you continuing his TDM threads, responses are below from the latest tag!))

The Bull, it appeared, had an iridescent shaft strapped to his back when he hauled himself out of the fountain. It was topped with a diamond-shaped stone and looked like it might be some sort of mace.
"Yeah, okay. We'll work on that." That being her receptiveness to innuendo. they had time, though. "And if there are beasts around, know that the Bull is with you." He motioned to her hammer. "Or if you want to swing that thing at something that isn't trying to kill you."
no subject
Yes, he was definitely a warrior.
"I do not think I require additional work at combat, merely a sparring partner that is strong enough. I wonder if you are durable."
no subject
"Yeah, okay." He grinned at her comment, though. This was something he could handle, and something simple he could embrace with all the crazy crap around them. "There's always room for improvement, Lauri, but the world hasn't killed me yet. I can take a hit."
no subject
"You look as if you could. You look more like a Kree warrior than most humans do."
no subject
Bull was still proud of what he'd accomplished within his role in Qunari society, even though they'd forced him to betray his heritage for the sake of his boys. He'd saved a lot of lives, kept a lot of things in order in a place of chaos, and the Qun had brought him to the Inquisition. He'd never change that.
He grinned, even though the specifics of her words were lost on him.
"Maybe you can tell me about the Kree sometime, we can compare notes. Most humans are small next to Qunari. I don't hold it against them."
no subject
Which was something that could make her feel a touch isolated. But she tried her best. Her culture was not easily understood by humans she found.
"For now, perhaps you would like shown some of the rooms at what we call the hotel? They are good for temporary residences. Some stay long term. Or I can show you other things.
no subject
"Sounds like a plan, Lauri, and whatever else you think is important." What someone found important and what one didn't could tell someone a lot about a person.
no subject
"I shall show you that first," she decided, turning toward a very large building just away from the fountain. It was no real distance to travel in the grand scheme of things, but she still tried to keep herself slwo for him.
no subject
He followed after her, his gate fluid to spite the brace on his ankle. It was an old injury and the ache was a part of him now, gave him character. He embraced it. "You're the boss."
no subject
There she gestured to the grand steps and the implication of that which was above.
"Some rooms are kept, by agreement, neat on the first floor. This is because some of the smaller humans do not handle the stairs well. There is a store in the city with old furniture, built more to our scale, and if you require assistance, I will happily help you bring a bed here if you choose to remain here. I advise it at least some over the ships, as the bunks are not suitable for large people such as ourselves."
Needless to say his horns would be a problem.
"Do you know of electrical lighting? Not everyone does. I could demonstrate its function to you. Oh, and the rooms all have running water bathrooms, this is nice. But no baths. The ships have showers, and there is a cave with hot springs, that is better for use."
no subject
"Bed sounds good." So did the hotel. "And I...think I do." A thought occurred to him, related to people who knew his face here. "How, uh...if you were here before, how would you find out?"
no subject
"I can envision two methods. I would ask those who have been here a long time. Thomas and William have been here as long as the Agrii have brought people here, and before them I understand that some like Lance and Keith and Wanda were on the Fleet before that. If none of them have answers, one could ask the Agrii themselves. There is a function on the communicators to speak to them. They do not always answer."
no subject
"Right." He was beginning to think he might not want to know either way. "Thanks, I'll look into it. This who setup seems familiar, is all."
no subject
But there was a matter of easy answers here.
"They are friendly, if you meet them."
no subject
"With the communicator thing, right?"
no subject
"Yes, that is correct. I hear some met them in person, though."
no subject
"And I don't think I've seen this planet before, but...those ships look familiar. Some of them." But he'd never been outside of them, not looking at them the way he could now. "I think I rode around in 'em."
He breathed a sigh, shaking his head and grunting in annoyance. "This is weird shit."
no subject
"If you rode around in them, then you should speak to those who were here before. Wanda, Lance, Keith, and the Soldier."
Weird shit, yeah.
"This is all very strange. But we learn to work through it.
no subject
"Yeah, I know. You can adapt to anything, right?" He scoffed, shaking his head. "Lot of room to work it out if you can't, too." He gave her another look over. "You ever down for some training, the Bull is with you."
no subject
Adapt to anything? She raised an eyebrow at that.
"Kree are not Skrull. We cannot alter ourselves quickly. It is not in our genetics."
Ah, but training earned a grin from her.
"There has not been one of close to my size before. I worry, sometimes, in sparring with those who are smaller. I am much stronger."
no subject
"Uh...I mean in your mind, getting used to different situations." He had no idea what she might have meant otherwise.
"That's where trust comes in. You have to trust yourself to handle it, but yeah...I get it. I'm big even for a Qunari."
no subject
But the idea of trust makes her sigh.
"There have been those I have felt comfortable training with, but they are gone. It leaves me out of easy ability to train with others. And you do not seem so big."
no subject
He rolled his impressive shoulders in a shrug. "Not to you, but other people, yeah."
no subject
"Yes, many humans are very small."
no subject
That got a hearty laugh from the guy, a deep sound that resonated between the buildings as they moved along.
"Yeah, they are, but they don't let that hold them back. Shit, elves are even more tenacious and they're smaller."
